Ben Carson to announce his bid for the Presidency on May 4th?
Ben Carson will make a major announcement about what his intentions are in regards to running for the Presidency on May 4th. Here is more:
Ben Carson (R) will make an announcement about his presidential plans on May 4 in his hometown of Detroit.
Carson was the first serious Republican contender to launch a presidential exploratory committee, and he’s been staffing up, leading many to believe that he intends to launch his presidential campaign in the announcement at the Detroit Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts early next month.
It seems fairly obvious to me that he will announce his candidacy for the Presidency at that time. Why else would he allow the hype around his potential candidacy grow for two weeks only to announce he was not going to run? That would not make any sense to me.
To be honest I really do not know that much about Ben Carson and I have not been following him closely because he is not a politician so I do not have an educated opinion on him from a political perspective. I do know that he has given some speeches and made some comments which have riled up the left and of course I enjoy that, but that alone does not qualify him to be President. I will be watching and listening to him closely if he does announce that he is running, but until that time I will be withholding judgement.
Ben Carson is a true outsider having never run for office before and perhaps that is what we need at this point. Barack Obama ran as an outsider and it served him well, but I believe he was groomed for the job for many years before he even ran for the State Senate in Illinois.
In all honesty I do not think Ben Carson has any chance of winning the Republican nomination but at least he will lend another voice to the debate and I find his potential candidacy to be quite interesting indeed. And of course nothing is certain for most people had not heard of Barack Obama until his now infamous speech at the Democratic convention so I suppose anything is possible–at least until the establishment candidate, Jeb Bush, and its money enters the race…
Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

I don’t know much about his stance on the issues except he did say that he thinks people don’t need to own semi-autos. So, I crossed him off when he said that. Who knows though, maybe his stance on gun control has ‘evolved.’ 😉

If that is true I will cross him off my list as well! Too many people do not seem to understand that semi-automatic weapons are basically every single weapon with the exception of single shot shotguns and revolvers.

I’m going to look it up. It was in an interview and he said in heavily populated areas people shouldn’t be permitted to have semi-autos. He said they were okay in the country. :_

Found it, an interview with Glenn Beck, March 2013.
“Dr. Ben Carson says he believes in the 2nd amendment, but he also says that if you live in a populated area where your semi-auto weapon might fall in the hands of a crazy person, then he’d prefer you not have it. But if you live out in the sticks, then he’s all good with that.
He says it’s an issue for local governments to decide.”

Thanks Laura, looks like I have to cross him off the list!

Maybe not, Steve. Maybe he is different and understands that if elected he’s not being elected for his personal views, but only to execute the office of president – you know, carrying out only the powers delegated to the president by the Constitution….
Nah, never mind…. 😉

A truly superior physician who was proficient at neurosurgery.
What makes him (or anyone else) think that that qualifies him to be President? In fact, many of the doctors I’ve met are politically naive — but I don’t pay them for their political chops, I pay them for their medical expertise.
Given the enormous pressures of the office, I don’t really think that the Presidency can be filled by anyone other than an experienced and gifted politician. Although it’s useful for any officeholder to have some experience outside politics, Being a successful businessman alone, or military leader, or physician, do not give a candidate sufficient skills to successfully accomplish the job of President.
I feel badly for Dr. Carson, because based on some of the things he’s reported to have said, I’m afraid he’s going to make a fool of himself in front of the entire nation, and he really deserves better than that.
Take good care and may God bless us all!

I tend to agree with you here. He might have views which appeal to many people and he may be able to articulate them well but that does not qualify him to be President.

I AGREE, WE NEED TO TOLERATE AND ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THAN A REPLICA OF GENERAL PATTON, AND ONE WHO WOULD BE WILLING AND ABEL TO DISMANTLE THE BILDERBERGERS, ILLUMINATI, ETC…AND DO AWAY WITH CONSPIRACIES. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR AND NEED. SINCE THERE IS A 99.99…CHANCE THIS IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, AND WE SEE GLOBAL COMMUNISM ON STEROIDS, MY FRIENDS WE HAVE SOMETHING GREATER TO LOOK FORWARD TO, THAN ANY POLITICIAN OR ANY PRESENTLY GOVERNMENT CAN GIVE US, AND THAT IS THE RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST. WE WILL NOT NEED AN ELECTION THEN, AND JESUS CHRIST IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN GIVE ETERNAL LIFE.

To sell books. Simple.
Mr Carson is not running for President. Additionally, by keeping himself in the news cycle, Mr Carson is hoping to selected as a Vice President candidate.

Ema, sometimes the answers are so painfully obvious we overlook them. In this case, it’s “follow the money.”
Thanks giving us a reality check by pointing out this oh-so-obvious fact (well, it’s a fact IMHO).

I don’t know Ema, I have to say questioning Dr. Carson’s motivation seems a tad racist to me.

Well done. … Well done.
Only a “tad?”
Really?
Is questioning Mr. Paul’s motivation a tad bit male chauvinistic? Is questioning Ms. Clinton’s motivation anti-woman?

Now that I have given it a little more thought I realize you have a problem with all of the known Republican candidates and what do most of them have in common…
I think it is time for you to look into the mirror and do some real soul searching.
