Bernie Sanders has Hillary Clinton’s campaign team worried about Iowa

July 6, 2015

Hillary Clinton might be downplaying Bernie Sanders and the surge he has been enjoying since he announced his candidacy but her campaign team is admitting they are worried about his growing popularity in Iowa.

  Here is more:

The ample crowds and unexpectedly strong showing garnered by Senator Bernie Sanders are setting off worry among advisers and allies of Hillary Rodham Clinton, who believe the Vermont senator could overtake her in Iowa polls by the fall and even defeat her in the nation’s first nominating contest there.

The enthusiasm that Mr. Sanders has generated — including a rally attended by 2,500 people in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Friday — has called into question Mrs. Clinton’s early strategy of focusing on a listening tour of small groups and wooing big donors in private settings. In May, Mrs. Clinton led with 60 percent support to Mr. Sanders’ 15 percent in a Quinnipiac poll. Last week the same poll showed Mrs. Clinton at 52 percent to Mr. Sanders’ 33 percent.

“We are worried about him, sure. He will be a serious force for the campaign, and I don’t think that will diminish,” Jennifer Palmieri, the Clinton campaign’s communications director, said Monday in an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Some of Mrs. Clinton’s advisers acknowledged that they were surprised by Mr. Sanders’ momentum and said there were enough liberal voters in Iowa, including many who supported Barack Obama or John Edwards in 2008, to create problems for her there.

“I think we underestimated that Sanders would quickly attract so many Democrats in Iowa who weren’t likely to support Hillary,” said one Clinton adviser, who like several others spoke on the condition of anonymity to candidly share views about the race. “It’s too early to change strategy because no one knows if Sanders will be able to hold on to these voters in the months ahead. We’re working hard to win them over, but yeah, it’s a real competition there.”

And I think they are right to be worried because this is beginning to sound quite a bit like the 2008 Presidential race: Hillary Clinton was widely thought to be the presumptive Democratic nominee before Barack Obama came out of nowhere to upset her in Iowa. I am sure her campaign is beginning to worry about 2016 becoming a repeat of the 2008 campaign.

Will Bernie Sanders continue to grow in popularity as the campaigns begin to get into full swing or is this just a temporary bump in the polls because voters are looking for a fresh face? I believe Bernie Sanders has a real opportunity to shake this race up because, among other things, Hillary Clinton just is not all that likable. Even her supporters do not seem to be all that fired up about her candidacy.

I saw this talked about on Hanity. I don’t think Hill-a-beans is worried about anything. She has the media and has sailed through every scandal with ease.
She know that the suicide wing of the Republican Party will cannibalize their own and hand her the election.

She does have everything going for her and this time she doesn’t have to worry about the people getting caught up in a personality and leaving her behind so the chances are she is going to be okay.

Well, you’re right that she doesn’t usually worry about much but I kinda disagree. I think she is absolutely rubbing her Rosary, getting her Chrystal’s together, talking with her physic reader, and rubbing Buddha’s tummy right now! And, for very good reason. 🙂 It will be interesting, however, to see what dirt she finds on Bernie, just sayin! 🙂

Oh yeah, you can bet she is digging and digging to come up with something just in case. This is going to get fun for a little while.

It is to bad that Hillary Clinton is not campaigning to end the most destructive problem we have which is destroying the middle class.

She is NOT saying that she will work to end Citizens United which allows corporations to give millions and millions of dollars to their favorite politicians in turn for special favors that help corporations make lots of money but make living conditions worse for U S Citizens.

She is NOT saying that she is FOR the financial REFORM of Wall Street
when Wall Street Corporate Greed is destroying the security of the American people, our country and our environment.

Corporate greed is the main reason that the Middle Class is in serious trouble and it has to stop now before it is to late.

Corporations give millions of dollars to politicians who in turn make it possible for the corporations to do what ever they want to do without any regard for the safety of people or the environment in our country and around the world.

    Doesn’t she care?

Lately she has been touching on these issues briefly because Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has forced her to address it.

But it is clear that she does not care to talk about it which makes me question that if she were the
president of the United States, will she just ignore it?

With all due respect, I can not support Hillary when she is not seriously addressing the most harmful problem that is crippling our democracy.

It is clear that she supports
corporations that put profit over the health and safety of the American people.

Bernie Sanders has been genuinely and seriously fighting for the financial reform of Wall Street for years and as President of the United States, he is our best chance.

Glen, it sounds like Bernie is your candidate. Why bother with Hillary or what she does or doesn’t stand for? Sanders is a man of conviction where Hillary is an opportunist. Sander has stayed true to his socialist views and is saying all the things you want from your candidate, no matter what the consequences. Young people seem to love this old guy, because they benefit most from a government controlled economy and government redistribution of wealth.
The Greeks seem to love communist Prime minister Alex Tsipras even though their economy is in collapse. Why look for anyone else?

You are right in your assessment of both Hillary and Bernie Bruce. The one thing we can say about Sanders is that this is who he is and he has never hidden from it whereas Hillary is just a person who will say whatever it takes to get elected.

With the majority of the people who want
taxes raised on millionaires and billionaires,
Hillary was asked today if she is going
to work to raise taxes on the rich.

        She completely ducked the question.

Bill and Hill are multi-millionaires, along with Gore, Kerry, Reid, Pelosi, and most of the rulers of the Democratic Party. They only want to tax someone else.
