Is Rand Paul building a grassroots fundraising juggernaut?

July 10, 2015

Rand PaulAll of the talk surrounding the Republican Presidential candidates lately has revolved around Donald Trump and some of the latest polls actually show him leading the field on a national level. This bothers the Republican establishment for obvious reasons because their chosen candidate is Jeb Bush.

While Donald Trump is getting all the headlines, and while Jeb Bush is sure to get all the establishment money, there is one candidate who quietly behind the scenes may be building a grassroots funding juggernaut and that person is my candidate of choice–the only Republican who does not seem to be a selective Constitutionalist, Rand Paul. He has raised $7 million in the last quarter alone and he has done it through grassroots fundraising.

  Here is more:

What’s perhaps more impressive than the dollar amount, however, is just how successful Paul has been with grassroots supporters: the total number of donations is comprised of 108,205 individual donors with an average of $65.

What’s more, a whopping 85 percent of all donations were for either $50 or less, and 96 percent of all donations were for $100 or less. Those numbers prove that Paul has raw grassroots support nationwide, and hardworking people who aren’t part of the permanent political class—the folks who can’t max out in thousands of dollars of donations to various political candidates—are doing whatever they can to help him out.

The numbers Paul’s campaign released to Breitbart News exclusively also show he is outpacing the contributions of almost every 2012 Republican campaign and has the resources to build a national campaign capable of competing through the convention. The last quarter’s $7 million of receipts come from the time frame of between April and June of this year.

Additionally, Paul’s campaign’s announcement of high levels of small dollar donors means he has strong support from real primary voters, not political insiders. His donors are activists who will continue to donate and, as engaged activists, they will drive others to give to and vote for Sen. Rand Paul

  And that is not all:

Polls continue to show Paul is the best-suited GOP candidate at this time when it comes to facing off against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical general election. He leads the field against Hillary Clinton nationally, according to Real Clear Politics’ average of polls. Also, he is the only candidate who polls ahead of Clinton in polls from key states Republicans need to win the White House, including Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Personally I do not think Donald Trump’s popularity will last but Jeb Bush’s establishment connections and the money it will bring in to the campaign may be too much to overcome but I do believe Donald Trump’s popularity and Rand Paul’s grassroots fundraising is proof that the Republican voters are finally growing tired of the Republican political class in Washington. And if this is true then maybe there is a chance at defeating the machine after all…

As I say, a Republican victory is possible if the suicide wing of the party will release it’s grip on the party. I have been a Paul follower for some time, but I would be as happy with Cruz, Rubio, and more and more, Fiorina.
Trump is today what Cristy was 5 years ago: an outspoken candidate willing to say what others won’t, but you are right Steve, that phenomenon will be short lived.

Trump could serve a purpose but I feel his end game is destroying the Republican candidates with guilt by associate, I just don’t trust him. I also like Cruz and Rubio but Paul is my first choice.

I’m still weighing the candidates (except for Bush. I think we’ve had more than enough of them). I’m not a single issue guy so I guess we’ll see. It chaps my a$$ the ‘establishment’ Republicans are in Bush’s corner.

I agree with you on Bush and it bothers the hell out of me that the establishment is jumping behind a candidate who I believe has no chance of winning!

Glad to hear his coffers are filling. Trump gave permission for others to voice what they are thinking. No I don’t trust him. At this point, if it looks like Bush has it I would rather go down swinging. This is our last train out IMO.

I agree with you; if the Republicans do not win this time they are through and in my opinion nominating Jeb will be the death sentence.

OT, it is raining again today, someone make it STOP! I need to get the grass cut, it is getting so tall I will have to go over it twice, but everything is so WET it just clumps! June was the wettest month it has ever been in Illinois. The garden is growing FAST, but so are the weeds. Seems like every day it is raining and not just a sprinkle. 😉

I am ready for fall now! These are just muggy nasty days with the humidity, so it is not the least bit enjoyable.

Last week we had 108 and 39% humidity. Thought I would die! Normal is about 20% and that is too much for me. I was working outside in Utah when it was about 6% and 118 and felt fine.

We haven’t even hit 90 yet this Summer and it is still getting unseasonably cool at night. It has been a strange Summer to this point, yesterday was the first day that really felt like the season. I have a feeling when it really gets here it is not going to let up for awhile.

OT, what entity gets on my computer and moves the desktop icons to different places? I have them where I want them and all of a sudden they are NOT in that spot?

It has been a long time since that has happened to me but I believe there is a setting somewhere called “auto align icons” or something like that, if that is checked it will move the icons around when you reboot the computer. Maybe that is your problem. Personally I don’t like any icons on the desktop so I pin all my programs to the task bar at the bottom so it keeps my desktop clean with the exception of the recycle bin.
