Jeb Bush believes the NSA needs more power to spy on Americans
Earlier this year after the Senate failed to reach a compromise on the PATRIOT Act the NSA began winding down its illegal data-mining program handing Rand Paul a victory over the selective consitutionalist Republicans, the establishment, and Barack Obama.
Needless to say this did not sit well with most of the establishment and many of them voiced their displeasure that the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution was successfully defended. We can now add Presidential hopeful Jeb Bush to that list because he believes the NSA needs even more power.
Here is more:
Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush said Tuesday that the government should have broad surveillance powers of Americans and private technology firms should cooperate better with intelligence agencies to help combat “evildoers.”
At a national security forum in the early voting state of South Carolina, Bush put himself at odds with Republican congressional leaders who earlier this year voted to end the National Security Agency’s bulk collection of phone records.
The former Florida governor said Congress should revisit its changes to the Patriot Act, and he dismissed concerns from civil libertarians who say the program violated citizens’ constitutionally protected privacy rights.
“There’s a place to find common ground between personal civil liberties and NSA doing its job,” Bush said. “I think the balance has actually gone the wrong way.”
Yet another Republican who claims to care about the Constitution but somehow does not think the Fourth Amendment is all that important. When it comes time to vote I hope you all will remember this. If you support Jeb Bush you need to ask yourself how you can be both for the Constitution and a candidate who supports a program which has already been ruled illegal in the courts because if you are honest with yourself you cannot.
Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

Wow! What a woefully stupid statement by Mr. Jonathan Ellis Bush, Sr. on the National Security Agency. Said, apparently, with a straight face in South Carolina. Read on below. Thanks to my friend and fellow blogger America’s Watch Tower for the opportunity to share this posting…

The more I hear from Jeb, the less I like him. I’ll call him better than an outright Democrat, but that’s about it.

Well, he tends to lean more left than right, so call him what you will. I do NOT think anyone is entitled to their turn, like we hear so often….Romney….McCain….so is THIS Jeb’s turn up? I just cannot pull the lever, just because he is what the establishment wants in there….is he any different than what is there now?

Not that different. When I look at people like Dr. Carson, Col. West, Ted Cruz, Trey Gowdy, even Donald Trump, I see people who might actually make a beneficial difference for our country.
How many more with good potential can be named? Lots. Somewhere in the mess is someone we’ll be able to vote for with a clean conscience.
btw – My ultimate candidate, even though I know she won’t run, is Condoleeza Rice.

I do not think she will run, I imagine it would be alot of name calling going on since she is Republican and black. Just like they are doing to West and Carson…apparently you cannot be a black conservative….I have never seen it written down, so it must be a “given”. How stupid is that? There are alot of good men/women that care about this country, but we have the establishment shooting them down very quickly….there is part of the BIG problem along with the stupid people that will always vote the way they are told to.

Yeah Lou, the establishment like to tell us who’s turn it is and they throw money behind that candidate and basically chose who we will vote for. You know I am not a Trump fan but I think that his popularity has them concerned because he has the money to buck them.

I have to be honest Dr. Jeff, I do not know enough about Condi’s positions of the issues to have an opinion on her as a candidate. I do think however that it would be very tough for her to get elected because she was part of the Bush administration. That is not fair of course, but I do think she would be hurt by it even though it should be a plus.

‘Pull the level’ is right Lou – just like the old fashion one arm bandits that promise so much, but are set to play by the house rules – we don’t need that house ruling anymore!

I agree with you Dr. Jeff, I think he is more a Democrat than a Republican.

I call him a fool and anti-Constitutional. The republican and democrat parties/labels mean nothing anymore. Both constantly and consistently violate the Constitution and their constituents’ wishes.
I’ll just call him, and all the rest of them, law-breakers….

Laura, is your weather bad around you? We had some pretty bad storms last night with 70 mph winds, just wondering if that hit you, as well. We had a goodly amount of rain, as well. You said you live on the water so just wondering if it did any damage.

No, Lou. We had some rain, but nothing severe. 70 mph winds are really bad! Hope you had no damage. 🙂
We did have 3 days in the high 80s and very humid. My body just does not tolerate that kind of weather well at all. 😦

I am glad to hear that. No, so far our trees and shingles have taken on that kind of wind. We have had the high temps AND the high humidity, part of living in central Illinois. We have corn planted this year across from us in the fields, for some reason it is always more humid with corn than with soy beans, less breeze, too. One year they did sunflowers and it was beautiful, acres and acres of sunflowers, nice to wake up to.

Acres and acres of sunflowers sounds glorious! I would have loved that.
I lived in a rural area for several months. I was surrounded by corn fields. I noticed that, at times, it was unnaturally still, quiet, and eerie.

It is in the Fall when the corn is drying out that the rustling starts up and that is what is eerie 😉 I have done many search and rescues in corn fields at that stage, the novices wear t-shirts to go in, the more experienced wear gloves and long sleeves, even in the heat….the poor novices would come out sliced up from the leaves….we figured they would not do that the next time.

I agree 100% Laura and I think that is why Trump is doing so well at this point. People are sick of politicians and are looking elsewhere. Of course I think Trump is the wrong person but it does show us the frustration many people are feeling.

Trump, pffft. I don’t trust him as far as I could throw him. People may like what he is saying, but IMHO, he is not president material.

It’s hands off anti-american hate infected mosques and their radicalized sand monkeys but let’s violate the constitution and listen in on everyday Americans phone calls and pat down wheelchair bound 80 year old Irish catholic nuns at the airports. As for Jeb, Jesse Jackson had it right when he intoned “Get out da Bushes.”

You know Peter, one would think they were endangered species the way they are protected.

Exactly Peter. Why is it that law-abiding citizens are always the ones punished for the actions of the others? I guess the answer is because we are an easy target while those that carry out these types of acts are dangerous and we wouldn’t want to “offend” them.

They will be voting on this bill as soon as they return. The Bill is even worse than the previously passed bills. I am getting to like Jeb less and less, and it didn’t take much.

OT: I was looking at some you tube videos and this popped up. It is about the Arch in St. Louis. I grew up across the river in East St. Louis in Illinois and watched it being built. I do not know if anyone is interested or have the time to watch it, but it is interesting.

My mom loves the TV series ‘Defiance.’ It’s a sci-fi show set in the future when Earth has been ‘invaded’ by several different alien species.
Defiance is the name of a town that is where St. Louis used to be. Humans and aliens live together in Defiance, but there’s lots of racial tensions (true racial tensions, since it involves actual different races – humans and aliens). A couple of episodes ago alien terrorists blew up the Arch!!! It’s still standing, but it’s in two pieces now.

I visited it in 1969. Mexico should erect something comparable overlooking the Rio Grande to commemorate the Mexican people’s northern migration. 😎

But exactly where? The whole border is a “gateway” to the North, isn’t it?
