Open thread for Sunday, August 23rd: ‘Shake It’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, August 23rd. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 12 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.
In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.
The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
I could not decide what to share with you with this week’s musical selection so I dug deep into my CD collection and decided to throw a bit of a curveball at you with a little funk/rap: here is the Limbomaniacs performing “Shake It.”
Hello Steve, And All, I like when people try different mix of music remind me of

Good mix, SDL, good morning to you! Have heard the first song and love it, I can see John Cleese doing the skit in the second video (Fawlty Towers has always been one of my favorites so he would have played this part to a tee) and the violin is beautiful!

Led Zeppelin is my all-time favorite band. Here are five of my favorite songs.
How Many More Times
Bring It On Home
Misty Mountain Hop
Ramble On ( couldn’t find a live version)
Babe I’m Gonna Leave You
I can’t explain why they are my favorite. I think that each member is a musical genius in his own right. Put them together and, in my opinion, they are the greatest R&R band of all time. I know they ‘borrowed’ from others without giving credit, but, in my mind, that doesn’t detract from their genius. I didn’t became a fan of Zeppelin until I was in my 30s. That might be why I love them so much – I was an adult when I began to appreciate their music, lyrics, and talent.
Anyway…. 🙂

Truly a great band for sure! They all have wonderful backgrounds and are very talented! Too bad you did not enjoy them when they were “fresh”, what a band to hear and see. They are seasoned now! But then again, look at the Rolling Stones for example? When I see some of these groups, I have mixed emotions….on one hand, it takes me back to a more simpler time, but then again, I think “what the hell happened to this old guys?”,,,,then I look in the mirror and think “oh”….it is nice to close your eyes and listen and be back in your teens or 20’s, at least for awhile. Is this your #10, Laura? If it is, I am going to wonder what your #1 will be, this is a band that has few that would be considered their superior!n
Thanks for sharing today!

Zeppelin is my #1. Oh, dear, did I not follow the rules, again, lol??? 😉 😉
I do wish I had been a fan when I was growing up. I was born in ’66 and not really a ‘teen’ until ’79. In my house ‘bubble gum’ music was not allowed, lol. I listened to pop music growing up – only in my room, on my little radio. Of course, I knew Stairway To Heaven, but I wasn’t into ‘rock’ back then.
I do like other music besides classic rock. 🙂
This is the nephew of my sister’s husband on bass, co-founder and ‘chief music guy’ of cdza – he’s amazing!

Yeah you broke the rules again but we will let it go. 😉 Thanks for sharing that last video, they are really talented!

Those are some great tunes Laura! I love the entire first album, even though as you said they “borrowed” most of the tunes. I have always love the Immigrant Song and Communication Breakdown as well.

Immigrant Song is one of my favorites – I love the lyrics! Communication Breakdown is just ‘okay’ in my book – I like it, but it’s not a favorite. Of course, most of their songs are my ‘favorites’ – there are only a few that I don’t like and a few that I consider just ‘okay.’
What can I say? I’m peculiar… 🙂

Nothing wrong with being particular, there are songs by my favorite bands which I cannot stand. Hey, they can’t all be great right? 🙂

Some I’d not heard Laura! I listened to them in college. You could tell by the lead singers voice what band it was if there was any doubt! And, you’re right. They each had their musical gift to share and together they brought the music together!

Something about Trump: Donald Trump Is Just Another NWO Establishment Candidate Proof
So, ‘who know’ what he’s up to?

I don’t trust Trump at all and I believe the narrator is right when he says we are being played. Trump’s comments about Democrats at the beginning of this clip tell me all I need to know.

Yep Steve, he says all the things normal American’s want to hear but once again when the wind blows the other direction he says other things. Then the world rulers put their ‘plant’ in anyway.

I don’t trust Trump, either, Steve & Zip. He is saying things a lot of conservatives want to hear, but I think it’s just lip-service. I don’t know why he is in the race. Does he really want to be president? Does he really think he would make a good one? Does he really think he could be the nominee and then win????
To me, he’s a wild card. I read an interesting theory – the reason so many people have entered the race is to dilute the votes and ensure Bush gets the nomination. Don’t remember where I read that – it was a very detailed theory with much circumstantial ‘evidence.’
Regardless, I don’t trust Trump. Nope, nope, nope.

That theory holds water in my opinion. Bush is the guy the establishment wants in there and most of the candidates are establishment guys so I don’t doubt this might be the plan.
