Here is the open thread for Sunday, August 30th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Last week we covered 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. Another way to say that Swiss is: If you don’t stand with the truth you’ll fall for the lie. Someone’s ‘something’ can be another ‘anything’! Just another perspective!
But the Love factor (lasting and not fleeing) is significant isn’t it! Really Love and Truth hold hands.

Thanks for posting that Brittius – That would be interesting to see. That utube channel the article mentions has the long service versions – so they don’t show it. The newest is 2 wks old and this sound more resent. What a freaky thing. Well it sure wasn’t Christ ’embodying’ him to do that, but he’s not a Christ witness anyway. He has a twisted personal interpretation of the Gospel and prospers from it … A LOT! Can we say, ‘Osteen ‘crashes’ on stage’? Not to make light of his physical hurts, but he’s one of those gainsayers that Scripture warns against.

Probably because it’s recent.I’m not a fan of Joel at all – and not to say atheists don’t have some truth to present, but this article is pretty strange now that I think about it – why post something so outlandish? knowing there’s no backup info about it – esp. when stating all these people doing utube vids about it and there isn’t any. The only utube source promotes him and his teachings. Maybe something to keep an eye on – like you said – open case. [Reminds me about spreading of the lie, the more ‘outlandish’ it is the more people will be drawn to it – Hilter “Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it.”

It could also be that whoever posted that, believes that Olsteen is winning souls away from whatever the poster’s core beliefs are. I like Olsteen.

I liked him years ago, as I did the Copeland’s, Joyce Meyers and all them, but after learning about God’s Timeline and how we fit in His Plan & Purpose, I changed tracks. I’d watched ‘Forgotten Truths’ with Richard Jordan on WHT, and he explained some things, very simply, that made sense and put Grace back in the Grace Gospel! (putting people under man’s program). For Joel winning soul’s to God / Christ, most of these motivational ‘feel good’ speakers ‘use’ Scripture to motivate people to give them money more than to lead them to Christ – who IS the ONLY WAY to God and Salvation! OR entices them to be ‘all they can be in this world – successful and prosperous – rather than teaching God’s truth about what he thinks of money and the entrapment it brings). “But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction.” 1 Tim 6:9 And the Gospel of Grace (1 Cor 15:1-2) doesn’t say anything about us doing anything (works of the flesh), other than just ‘believe God’ and believe what He did to make it happen. In Paul’s writings (God inspired – Romans – Philemon) the LORD would have us prosper in His riches of Grace, His Wisdom and Understanding – considered more precious than gold and silver. Warning us against the entanglements and snares of this fallen world. Apostle Paul states he once profited in the Jews’ religion but when Christ opened his eyes & made him the Apostle for the Gentiles Paul left it all and did what was more pleasing to God, not himself or anyone else! http://thekingsbible.com/BibleText.aspx?bibleid=48001014# Joel talks about God looking at one’s heart. But God says looks to see if we are in Adam or in His Son, Christ, the Beloved. Mistyped something in this – wanted to correct it since it’s important to note the trickery, twisting and re-engineering of God’s Truth and Word that contributes to the false teaching – the subtle gainsayers. I meant that man’s program isn’t God’s Program – man manipulates and changes Scripture “(putting people under man’s program)” to gain control over and profit from. God’s Grace isn’t man’s idea, it’s Freeing and Liberating. It’s like GMO food, the teachings have been altered and are unhealthy!

Guess there are good and bad, but that applies to everything. I used to believe only in the Catholic Church until all of the allegations and suits involving children. In fact, I am a touch deaf from beatings that I received by nuns because I was left handed. In one of the beatings, in church, while forced to kneel, I was told to look at Christ and figure out why I was being beaten. His right hand raised to the Almighty and left hand performing the miracle. Only Christ is perfect, only Christ can be left handed. Well, with a 25% hearing loss in the right ear (then), and a 20% hearing loss in the left ear (then), something went wrong. I am ambidexterous to this day. Write in print, script, throw a ball, catch a ball, shoot rifle, pistol, and shotgun, drive right hand cars, ride Harleys and old lefthand control Indian motorcycles, with equal skill either right or left hand. I happen to like Franklin Graham. The cheesy/oily persons that are on television asking for money, I have no use of, or value for. I also do not trust nor like this current pope. In fact, I only liked Pope John Paul-II. Padre Pio of Sicily, was someone I really don’t know what to make of. A very close friend had a job accident and six of his fingers (including both thumbs) were severed. His hands stopped working for ablout nine (?) years. He was in Sicily visiting relatives and they went to Padre Pio, who prayed over him and told him that his hands would work again very soon when he wakes up the next day. The next day, and what, maybe 15 years, until I lost track of him, his hands started working again, and some mobility is in the remaining four fingers. He drives, and shoots a rifle hunting deer. He also goes to church so the blessing does not leave. Mind over matter? Wishful thinking? On the streets, a few times, I saw similar, and two people swore that I (!) was an “angel”. Other cops just looked at me and wondered about what was said and I simply said, “Angel? Maybe closer to Saint Tony Soprano”, and everyone laughed. Original biblical angels were like the trenchcoat mafia types one would not want to meet in a dark alley. No wings. No harps. No halos. Maybe it’s all in what an individual believes? So, what happened, one child, and another time an old man, were pronounced dead at the scene. Something inside of me, the “voice” or feeling, who knows. I told them, “Wake up!”. They did. Maybe they weren’t fully gone but only their hearts stopped along with breathing. I just continued the rest of the tour, as normal, answering jobs. Motor vehicle accident. Domestic dispute. Burglary in the past. Oops.., somebody just ran a red light. What do we believe in? Thread question of love. I fell in love 42 years ago with my wife, but things expanded to my children and grandchildren. When my yellow Lab died at age 14, it was worse than my father’s funeral, and that, was something. He was loved by many.

Thanks for sharing Zip but I do have to say at this point that I have a personal issue with the creator of The DC Clothesline so I cannot bring myself to visit his site. I have no problem with you sharing his stuff but I refuse to visit his site personally because he was one of the founders of the New Federalist Party, which I was a founder of also.
After we made an official announcement of our intentions (on his site) he threw us under the bus and while we probably were not going to go anywhere anyway it left a bad taste in my mouth to see literally months of work thrown down the drain for what I believe was for personal gain.
Again, I have no problem with you sharing his stuff here because I think we all need to be heard from, the more voices of dissent the better! (I actually was a contributor to The DC Clothesline in the beginning.)

I just recently unsubscribed from DCC because Dean has just gotten too far out there. Too many of the ‘articles’ he posts are unbelievable. I had a soft spot for it cause it’s where I met you and the rest of the guys. 🙂
And, Steve, the New Federalist Party still could work. 😉

OH, I’m sorry to hear that Steve – such contention. I just happened across that posting – I don’t always go to the site for news. But, he laid it out pretty well and I thought it worthy to share. Thanks for clueing us in on that ‘situation’.

Same here Laura, we had a great bunch of people there who were concerned about the direction of the country and who decided to try to make a difference.
I printed out our platform and put it in a binder, I am extremely proud of that document and it is sitting on my computer desk. Every once in awhile I go through it again and wonder what could have been. I am still friends with Dean on Facebook because I want to see what he is up to and I have to say that people still visit the party page on Facebook so who knows what could happen in the future! 🙂

I’m still friends with Gary, Dann, and Bret on FB. Gary recommended a book for my son that he really liked. I have the most contact with you ’cause you write a really great blog that captured, and kept, my interest.
I know that people still visit the party page and it’s even gotten some ‘likes’ recently. Who knows??? 🙂

I still don’t even know how I was invited to join the party but, and this is ironic, it must have been Dean who invited me because I didn’t know anyone else before that.
Somebody from the party actually posted something there yesterday was that you? If not I am guessing it was Bret.
I still hold out hope that someday we might be able to make something happen as a party!

One of the guys started to make a website but it never got finished and it never went online. We do have a Facebook page but there is really nothing going on there although people still check it out from time to time.

Maybe it was not just a mind numbing program that you did not have to follow, sort of like the reality programs….PLUS, you actually learned something…I also like, but not as much NUMB3RS.
