Democratic leadership looking for alternative to Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders

  A fairly large portion of the Democratic voters have been looking for a viable alternative to the scandal-ridden former Secretary of State. The email scandal has no doubt played a role in her dwindling popularity but there was a portion of the Democratic voters who did not think Hillary Clinton was liberal enough from the beginning and these two issues have coalesced in the emergence of Bernie Sanders as a legitimate contender for the nomination of the Democratic party.

  But the Democratic voters are not the only ones worried about the direction this primary season is going; the leadership of the party is also worried and according to this story is actively scouting out candidates for a “Plan-B.”

If Hillary Rodham Clinton’s new apology for her private email server fails to reassure jittery supporters, it could amplify the chatter among some Democrats who have been casting about for a potential white knight to rescue the party from a beleaguered Clinton candidacy.

Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., Secretary of State John Kerry, Senator Elizabeth Warren, former Vice President Al Gore: Each has been discussed among party officials in recent weeks as an alternative to Mrs. Clinton if she does not regain her once-dominant standing in the 2016 presidential field and instead remains mired in the long-running email controversy, with its attendant investigations.

  But guess what? It is not only Hillary Clinton’s slide that has party officials worried; they are scared to death that Bernie Sanders will emerge as the only alternative to the former Secretary of State and they want no part of him being the Democratic nominee.

It is not just Mrs. Clinton’s weakness in the polls that has generated talk of other alternatives, but also the strength of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who is routinely drawing huge crowds at campaign events. That has been disconcerting to Democratic officials who believe that Mr. Sanders, a socialist, is so liberal that his presence at the top of the party’s ticket in 2016 would be disastrous.

“If party leaders see a scenario next winter where Bernie Sanders has a real chance at the Democratic nomination, I think there’s no question that leaders will reach out to Vice President Biden or Secretary of State Kerry or even Gore about entering the primaries,” said Garnet F. Coleman, a Texas state lawmaker and Democratic national committeeman.

  This is another example of the way the parties control the election and provide the American people with only the illusion of choice. You (meaning Democrat primary voters) were supposed to nominate Hillary Clinton while Martin O’Malley and Bernie Sanders played the role of controlled opposition, never to have a real shot at the crown. However, it has not worked out that way as of yet and now the party is worried because the voters might choose somebody the party does not want to see nominated and they cannot have that.

  The party is actively pursuing an alternative behind the scenes in an attempt to keep the illusion of real choice alive, they will add more candidates to the race if needs be to affect the outcome and the voters will think it is wonderful to have more choices but what it amounts to is this; at this point it is Hillary Clinton or nothing…or somebody that is  not in the race yet. But it won’t be Bernie Sanders if the party has anything to say about it.
