Republican debate open thread
As most of you know I am in Illinois this week at a training seminar for work. I thought this meant that I would be missing the Republican debate on CNN tonight however I did watch the debate while sitting in the hotel bar and so I have a couple of thoughts on the debate.
First: I think it was quite evident what CNN’s objective was because I noticed that it seemed like every question was presented to the addressee by the moderator as something like this, “so and so Republican candidate said this about you so how do you respond?” We know what the intent here was…it was clearly to promote in-fighting.
Second: even though the polls most likely won’t show it, this was a very bad night for Donald Trump and it started when he ridiculed Jeb Bush for his comment about cutting funding for women’s healthcare. Mr. Bush said he misspoke, but Mr. Trump would have none of it and went so far as to say he heard what he heard and that Jeb Bush wouldn’t have said it if he did not mean it. However Carly Fiorina was then asked about what Donald Trump said about her looks and she took the high road saying the American people heard what they heard. The implication was clear: he wouldn’t have said it if he did not mean it. Trump’s response? Carly Fiorina is beautiful. Condescending and ineffective.
But what I found to be even worse for Donald Trump, and I think this is something that most people might have missed, is when Ben Carson stated that a graduated income tax was a socialist idea and Donald Trump said he did not believe it was. Perhaps Donald Trump should read Karl Marx…
Well those my my thoughts but, as I said, I was sitting in a bar listening to the debate so take it for what it is worth. This is a debate open thread, what did you guys think about what you heard?

Without patronizing you Steve let me say, my sentiments exactly. As a Trump supporter I was embarrassed for him more than once. On the other hand he and Ben Carson had an admirable exchange on the autism/vaccination issue.
On the whole the candidates showed these moderators to be little more than shills for the other side while each of them comported themselves admirably on the issues and none backed down from taking to task the anti-american failure in the White House on his destroy america agenda. On the whole Fiorino, Rubio, Cruz and Christie, yes Chris Christie, were the strongest while Rand Paul in particular did himself no favors last night. Ben Carson made, for me anyway, a major fraudian slip when advocating for an intellectual approach to solving the Middle East crisis; a kind of can’t we settle this as gentlemen approach. He is weak and he scares me! Trump was as always Trump. He comes across as a guy who can’t wait to get in there and fumigate Washington D.C. from top to bottom!

Thanks Peter. That was an interesting exchange over the vaccinations. I was impressed by Fiorina as well and I hate to admit it by Christie did well also. It was clear to me CNN wanted to get the candidates fighting with each other just by the way they asked the questions and it worked but they were going to do that anyway so I don’t know how much it mattered in the long run.

Good point Peter about the vaccines – glad that was brought up. Dr. Ben takes for granted these vaccines are safe, he needs to study up on that. They’re part of the Agenda take-over plan and he needs to see that. I agree w/ you too about ‘no weakness’ when dealing w/ middle east crises – or the crisis here in this country, manufactured by the ‘dark powers that be’. And, ANTI- AMERICAN’s in the WH is very much part of the ‘staged crises events’ to rewrite the Law of the Land.

‘Just as unavoidable mandatory brain eating vaccines are being forced on the American public, “shaken baby syndrome” which was the cover lie for vaccine damaged and killed children has been upped in force to “abusive head trauma”. Now, at least that is a more accurate description of what is really happening to vaccine damaged children, but with the goal of that statement being to shift blame for vaccine damage onto parents, to bury the truth that much harder, I think it is time to pay a visit to a past report – the testimony of a police officer who knew the vaccines were doing the damage and was forced to report that the parents were killing their children: “I was in the Queensland Police Service for 20 years and I saw first hand how the vaccines caused death and the police would investigate, and while supported by the medical system would prosecute the parents for the injuries and death caused by the vaccines.” Dr.Ben needs to educate himself on this vital matter!

I won’t watch the debates, they are useless. None of the candidates ever even mention the Constitutional powers and duties of the president.
The republican candidate will be chosen for us…the debates are a waste of time. What the People need to be doing is ripping the power away from political parties who have stolen the loyalty, obedience, and dependence of our representatives. Instead of a government of the people, by the people, for the people…we have a government of political parties, by political parties, for political parties. And let me tell you, political parties do not have our best interests at heart – they could not care less about the People.

Yep, I agree Laura, well stated. I’ll add, not only ‘for the political parties’ but for the ‘Bankers and Corporation heads’ – the global elites (the top dogs/sharks). As the Agenda is pushed ahead these debates keep people focused away from the real show or actions going on. It might be that the candidates don’t really want to talk about the Constitutional powers and duties, because they don’t want to be locked into that – just as this fraud sicko prez doesn’t adhere to that Law. Lawlessness is not the answer nor is having lawless leaders rewriting the social laws and contracts!

I didn’t listen to the first debate, and didn’t plan to listen last night, but I was working in the shop and it was on, both first and second.
Every single one of the candidates is better than Hill-a-beans, and I rather have any of them over another Dem. BUT WHO CAN GET THE BALL INTO THE END ZONE? Everyone on a team wants to win, and everyone thinks they can do the job. I agree with most of what was said. I would support any if they got the nomination. BUT WHO CAN BEAT THE EXTREMELY POWERFUL LEFT? I don’t know yet.

The one candidate who does talk about the Constitution consistently is Rand Paul but of course he had a limited amount of time because of where he stands in the polls. People like Carson and Trump use it from time to time but honestly I think it is just for political reasons. Trump uses it for birthright citizenship and it is true that amendment has been (purposely?) misinterpreted for political reasons but other than that nobody really seems to care about it.
And you are right, the parties will each choose the candidate for us and we will be under the illusion we made the choice on our own.

I watched the 1st debate of the 4 underlings, uneventful! I had higher hopes for the 2nd debate, but all I saw was loaded questions to get fights started and to give the left ammo for commercials. What is wrong with having Republican moderators? Is there a law against that? Or is that only Democrats can have Democrat moderators? Hmmmm. Trump and Bush came out swinging and Trump is the stronger of the two. I just had my fill of watching Bush tilt his head from side to side in the first few minutes. Ben Carson is a soft spoken man, but I do not think he is presidential material maybe surgeon general, the vaccine issue is BIG to me and he seems to think they are ok, but spread further apart, maybe? How about not at ALL!! Carly Fiorina is good at repeating what she has been told on stats and she did hold her own, so she is an IF! John Kasich, well, I just cannot stand to see all the grimacing he does and all of the chest pounding he was spewing…let him take care of his state of Ohio and leave the Presidency alone. Chris Christy did ok, that is all. Scott Walker did not do much other than brag about his state of Wisconsin and the union take down he is so proud of , I think there is more to the Presidency than that. Ok, on to the other side….Marco Rubio is still young and intelligent, but his comment about spanish speaking turned me off, how about ENGLISH??? Rand Paul needs to go the way of Rick Perry and just disappear, I appreciate his filibuster he did on the Senate floor, but, no, not Presidential….I liked what Mike Huckabee had to say, he does have a voice of reason and has good morals, but didn’t he run before and fizzed out then and will again???….Ted Cruz, if he had been given a chance might have had more intelligent information for the American people, but he was cut off pretty quickly, he scares the left, so he has to be minimized, I think. Jake Tapper lost control, or did he,,,,maybe he was setting it up to make it a free for all to who ever had the biggest voice! Dana Bash,,who?? Hugh Hewitt doesn’t like Trump and I read he was out to get him last night….SOOOOOOOOOO, this was a “take Trump out of the race” debate, at all cost….I think the others know as long as he is there, they will be forced to talk about things they do not want to….if he has done nothing else for the Republican party, he has made them own up to what is going on it the world and how it affects US. I do not say that Trump is the best candidate for the Republican Party, but I think he is the best we have at the moment, followed by Cruz, Carson and Fiorina…but I want to be able to change my mind at any time, so this is my tentative assessment….what we have is not working, so we need to do a 180 (others will say a 360, haha) and shake things up…that 360 would not work out so well, would it?

Donald did seem a bit off his game, but guess you might tire of what is going on, when you not only have the moderators going after you, but your own party members, as well…3 hours was way too long to stand on a stage for bogus questions! I want a “fighter” in my corner and so far he seems to be the only one that is not afraid to buck the system and it NEEDS to be bucked drastically.

It doesn’t help that he looked like he was sitting on the toilet all night! I really do not like this man and I was glad to see him taken down a notch. The sad part is that Bush will end up gaining the most by this even if it doesn’t show up in the polls.

He exudes arrogance and there is alot I do not like about him, but I am not willing to let Bush take the candidacy any more than I want Clinton in there. I like a few of the others, as I have said, but not sure that they will have the staying power or backbone to stand up to what will be coming at them. My thoughts are IF Trump wins and picks a strong VP, he will be in there for 4 years and turn the reins over to the VP after that….I know that it might be a pipe dream, but I know we are sunk if a Democrat gets in. Does anyone think that Cruz or Fiorina or Rubio are up to standing against the evil that will come their way because I just do not think that. Trump has his own back and short of the establishment taking him down, I do not think the Democrats have the ability to do that. He will fight voter fraud unlike what we have been trying to get into office AND he will fight dirty and I think we are ready for some DIRT SLINGING this time around. Just my opinion….I respect what all of you have to say, as well…

It is a good point about him fighting dirty, that is probably what it is going to take to win. We know the Democrats will do it but the Republicans have been unwilling to but the one thing we know about Trump is that he will not back down.

That is exactly what CNN was up to last night and it was obvious. They were not really interested in the issues, only in getting the candidates to fight.

I like Carly for sure as well, well more although I read she aligned with McCain and CofC. But that’s just what’s written in some places on the internet. Same places say CofC for open borders and all for Jeb. Although I wish we had different CIC now, thank goodness we can have time to learn more.

I saw Carly at a New Hampshire event last week (got my picture take with her) and I can tell you that everything she said last might she said at that town hall meeting. It was effective but she is going to have to change it up a bit in the next debate.
