Scott Walker drops out of the Presidential race

September 21, 2015

I have to admit this news does not come as a surprise because he has not been able to either raise money or get his message out there but today Scott Walker became the second republican to announce he was dropping out of the Presidential race. Here is more:

During a press conference in Madison, Wisconsin, Walker delivered a short speech in which he announced that he is suspending his campaign. Walker referenced his respect for President Ronald Reagan “because he was an optimist.”

He said this presidential race and the previous GOP primary debate was “not focused on that optimistic view of America” and instead it has drifted into personal attacks.

Walker stated that Republican ideas will help make our country great again.

He decided to suspend his campaign in order to “clear the field in this race,” adding a positive conservative message and solutions need to rise to the top of the GOP field.

“I encourage other presidential candidates to do the same,” Walker said, stressing the need to limit the field in order to provide the voters an “alternative to the frontrunner,” a reference and a jab at GOP frontrunner Donald Trump.

Scott_Walker This is too bad because I wanted to hear more from him before I made my decision but it was all too clear he was not going to get that opportunity with Donald Trump dominating the headlines. As he alluded to; with this many candidates in the race they are splitting the vote and making it easier for someone like Donald Trump to march headlong into the nomination. If others follow his lead an alternative to Donald Trump could emerge from the pack but honestly I doubt it.

However the most logical candidate to emerge, if it does happen, will be Jeb Bush because he is the candidate the Republican establishment wants to win the nomination. The establishment will pump money into the Bush campaign in an attempt to offset Trump’s willingness to spend his own money in order to win the nomination and this will eventually strangle out all of the other candidates.

In my opinion neither of these candidates is acceptable albeit for different reasons but it is becoming clear to me these are our only options. If Scott Walker, who touts a conservative message and has proven he can withstand attacks from the left and win, cannot gain more than 2% in the polls and cannot get any momentum it seems highly unlikely to me that any candidate other than the two I mentioned above can either.

a serious man like Perry who fell victim to the reality of the State to National transition; if you can’t inspire from the podium, nobody pays attention to you, regardless of your message; you can get away with it at the State level, to just live off the ideas, but not in front of CNN; this is in no way beneficial towards picking our National leaders, but it is what it is

Now there’s no one in the race who I like….

I still like Rand Paul but it is pretty clear he is going nowhere.

He’s done things I don’t like, but he would be the only one left. I refuse to support those who aren’t Natural Born Citizens; I refuse to support rinos; I refuse to support people (Trump & Fiorino) I don’t trust.

I don’t care what anyone thinks of me or says about me, I won’t vote for the republican candidate just because he’s the republican candidate. I won’t compromise my principles just to get a republican elected. There’s no difference between the parties anymore, anyway.

Whatever they say about you they will have to say about me as well! I like Cruz but I don’t know if I can support him for the same reason as you. I am tired of the lesser of two evils and I am tired of voting for RINOs and I have pledged not to do it again.
It is sad that the only candidate (Paul) who seems to have a grasp on the Constitution cannot gain any traction from the voters of a party which claims to care about the Constitution.

        Good for you Laura!
I think a strong Constitutionalist would have to have his/her own protective army in order to stay alive long enough to win and hold the reins. The ‘cut throat bottom feeders’ shank out the worthy. That’s their MO.

Walker comes across as a nice guy. Scott Walker, from we have all read, seen and heard had tremendous successes in his home state but instead of screaming from the rooftops, ala Donald Trump, he chose the mister nice guy defending himself; at least that was the impression I got.
I feel this tact bit him in the ass.

Very true Peter, it seems as if people like the bombast more than anything else and I think that is because of the frustration they feel. They hear people like Carson and Walker talk and they don’t hear any passion and so they move on.

It is politics and politics eat nice people up with a passion. I had hoped Scott Walker would have been far more aggressive in his quest for the White House

I think you are right; he just was not aggressive enough to make any headway. Perhaps he will learn from this and try again.
