John Boehner announces he will resign at the end of October
Well this is old news by now and you all have heard it at this point in time but I would be remiss not to at least mention it: earlier today the man who simultaneously punished the conservatives in his own party while lying supinely on his back and prostrating himself to Barack Obama, (I think Laura will like those references!) John Boehner, has announced that he will resign his position as Speaker of the House and will abandon his House seat.
I have to admit that while I am happy with this turn of events it caught me totally by surprise. John Boehner, who in my opinion is nothing more than a Hegelian Dialectic change agent, has been punishing the conservatives within his own party for years because of their audacity to try to make good on campaign promises to cut spending and reduce the Federal deficit but I believe his downfall began when he took on the wrong man–Mark Meadows–for his vote against Obamatrade earlier this year.
Mark Meadows did not take the establishment bullshit lying down and fought back, eventually regaining his subcommittee chairmanship but he was not satisfied at what he obviously thought was a slight against him for voting his conscience and in recent weeks he has put together a coalition in an attempt to dethrone John Boehner.
That coalition has gained momentum over the weeks and John Boehner, who barely held on to his Speaker position the last time around, did what he does best when confronted by a strong foe–he gave in. And this shows us why he should not be Speaker…
Yet something does not seem right here to me and I cannot put my finger on it at this point. I can understand his decision to relinquish his leadership role in the throes of an uprising but to quit the House altogether? That does not make sense to me and I wonder if there is more going on behind the veil than we are being led to believe…
Malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
After my initial euphoria, I now find myself ‘waiting for the other shoe to drop.’

I knew you would, after all they come from your favorite speech! I also wonder what is next, something is not quite right here…

I have learned a long time ago not to ever ask if it can get any worse, Laura, and it sure as hell can. We have seen this first handed with this Administration, haven’t we?

Yeah, no matter how bad it is it always seems to get worse! If you don’t expect anything you will never be let down!

I’m not buying into any of it.
Rumor is, he’s made backroom deals with piglosi, possibly a cushy job on ‘K’ street, and a lifetime supply of scotch.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is more to this story than we are being told…

Boner’s sobbing countenance brings to my mind the 1963 hit song by Garnett Mimms, Cry Baby. Of course there is Julie London’s Cry Me A River unless one prefers Joe Cocker’s 1969 cover version.

This is a good thing, however, Kevin McCarthy is waiting to step into position and we need to make sure he doe NOT get that chance. There are actually CONSERVATIVES that are fully capable of doing that job far better than another RINO would do. We do not want to replace Boehner with another like minded butt kisser. But, that is just my opinion!
Has anyone been listening to the Value Voter Summit that is going on out East? Just in case you want to run it live in the background, it is worth hearing:

I have not seen any of the summit but I just went to the link you provided and they are on break. I will have to try again later. We need to get a real leader in there, but we also need to get someone in there who will oppose Obama, McCarthy is not that person.

As you may remember Lou that song is from his 1970 album Mad Dogs and Englishmen. I rcvd that album for Christmas, 1970, a classic which I still have in my extensive vinyl collection.

You just cannot beat those older songs and I think I have it in the vinyl collection I have as well, UNLESS my son “borrowed” it as he has been known to do. Don’t you love the sound of vinyl records?

What is this vinyl of which you speak? 😉

Steve,
The Go-Go dancers unable to afford leather boots would buy vinyl boots. This is the wonder material of which we speak.😎

You are being facetious, right Steve? On the chance that you are NOT, the vinyl of which we elders speak of are 33 1/3 records….I know that might be a foreign concept, but I still think you are pulling my leg, since you WINKED! You know they, the albums are making a comeback!!!!

Yes I am! Although I do not have a turntable or vinyl I know that there are quite a few audiophiles who still think vinyl is the best way to listen to music. My brother and my brother-in-law love vinyl and still buy it today.

The libs are quaking in their boots at the thought of a party that can actually run a government, abide the Constitution, and bring down the deficit.
The establishment GOP is quaking in their boots for the same reason.

We know there is not much difference if any between the liberals and the establishment republicans. Sad, right?

REAL sad, lou.
I love getting money calls from the GOP these days. I give them an earful. They have seen their last dime from me.
I just wish I could sue Bonehead for my contributions to him when I thought he was on OUR side !

Guess we get what we pay for and we have been supporting the wrong people for years….it is time to take them out and put some REAL Americans in those positions…as for your refund, GOOD LUCK, Terry!

Agreed Terry! Lou is right, there is little difference between the two establishment wings and they have had their shot and failed. It seems like the conservative branch is gaining momentum and if the establishment was smart they would pay attention to the election results instead of trying to bring the conservatives into the fold.

We still have that pesky problem of voter fraud, Steve….how we handle it I do not know. It seems when we KNOW it has happened, the Republicans just take it and don’t fight back…that is NOT what I am paying them to do, don’t they know that? Or, they are getting compensated very nicely to roll over…which is it?
