The Freedom Caucus to support but not endorse Paul Ryan

October 22, 2015

Well that did not take long. I no sooner finished my post on the possibility that the Freedom Caucus was poised to end Paul Ryan’s bid to replace John Boehner as the Speaker of the House when the grumblings started that the Freedom Caucus was starting to waver.

In what seems like a very short period of time the Freedom Caucus member support climbed from somewhere around 25% to a super-majority of support after the Chamber of Commerce intervened. Here is more:

Hard-line conservatives cleared a path Wednesday for Rep. Paul Ryan to become House speaker when some of his most disgruntled fellow Republicans signaled that they would support his bid for the top job.

The decision to back Ryan by the House Freedom Caucus, a group of nearly 40 lawmakers that has risen in power and stature since its founding this year, came after the Ways and Means Committee chairman spent much of his day courting its support.

So a super-majority of these so-called “hard-line conservatives,” these men of strong conviction, suddenly changed their opposition to Paul Ryan after the Chamber of Commerce stepped in, and we are still supposed to believe the establishment Republicans give a damn about you or I or what we think about them? The Chamber of Commerce spoke and the Freedom Caucus fell in line.

However the Freedom Caucus stopped short of actually endorsing Paul Ryan:

The group stopped short of an official endorsement, which would have required 80 percent support, but members said a “supermajority” of the caucus would back a Ryan bid for speaker.

paul-ryan I see it thusly: the Freedom Caucus does not have the courage of its convictions. Having stated widespread opposition to Paul Ryan the Chamber of Commerce stepped in (probably in support of Paul Ryan because of his support of amnesty) and convinced enough members to support the former vice-president, but the Freedom Caucus purposely stopped short of the 80% threshold to avoid making a public and official statement of endorsement, hoping to keep it on the down-low. I cannot think of anything more cowardly…

Of course Paul Ryan said that without an official endorsement from the Freedom Caucus he would not run for the Speakership so now we will find out if he has more conviction than the so-called “hard-line conservatives” in the Freedom Caucus.

This is all a charade if you ask me; in this game Paul Ryan plays the role of reluctant leader who has to be persuaded to give up what he really wants to do in order to step up to the plate. Because he feels a duty and believes it is in the best interest of the United States he puts aside his personal aspirations. What a hero!

It is all a chess game being played behind the veil and we are all the pawns. The interesting thing about chess is that sometimes the pawns can be the most valuable pieces in the game because they can be moved into a position where they can be sacrificed for the greater good…

Doesn’t he also want to be a Speaker that can NOT be removed, as well? I read they were not going to support him and now they are. They are starting to sound like the other side,,,,oh wait, they are all ONE! So, now they will support him BUT will not endorse him,,,hmmmmm. In the end, isn’t it all one and the same? Is everyone else as sick as I am of all the crap that we are having to endure because stupid people wanted to feel good and elect Obama TWICE?

As long as people feel good about themselves Lou, isn’t that all it’s about! Irregardless of how immoral, unethical or perverted they are. From the top down it goes, the worse being on the top, in an upside down world that prefers the ‘lie’ over Truth (which doesn’t make them feel good about themselves because it shows their rotten to the core).

Exactly Zip, feeling good is all that matters to these people. But it is what is in the heart that matters: “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.”

Apropos Steve. And in this case it goes with: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
That’s why there is no transparency. Only fabrications and cover-ups.
OT, I see that Hilly is smiling like she knows she has the gold (presidency), regardless of the evident.

Thanks Zip. I watched a clip of her while she was reading one of the emails from Chris Stevens and she got this little smile on her face and then said she could see him laughing as he typed it because it was a joke. It was not a joke and she knows it but this falls into what you shared: her heart is deceitful!

They are one in the same to me Lou but they think they can sneak this through without us seeing what they are up to. They have disdain for the voters and they think we are too stupid to see through their game. They may be doing this behind the veil, but the veil is not that thick!

I guess he is in, well at least, he is running for Speaker and the 3 groups of Republicans, might not endorse, but will support him. Just another piece of the puzzle put in place for our control.

OT, does anyone own a Keurig? If so, was it fun to have to begin with and now not used much? I am pretty frugal with money and kind of want one, but need to justify getting it. I know this is not in with the problems of the day, but would like to know your thoughts, then I will get back to the important stuff.

Save your money Lou. I gave mine away. It’s expensive, it’s work and time consumingmaking one cup at a time. Paraphrasing BB King the thrill is gone rather quickly.

My son has one and he loves it because he likes different flavors of coffee so he can have a couple of cups of different brew depending on what he feels like and does not have to worry about making a pot. I use it when we run out of coffee but I am a plain old black coffee guy so I just use a regular coffee maker.

I was under the impression that Ryan was wanting the endorsement of all caucuses. The way things are shaping up with the Freedom caucus, he is not going to get their endorsement because too many of them oppose him. Is he backing down on the absolute position of unanimous endorsement?

OT, I am trying to listen to the questioning of Clinton while cooking…it is going “as usual”, Hillary is in such control and her cheering squad behind are smiling at times…Sheila Jackson-Lee is to her right (our left) watching or trying to be SEEN, she is such a camera hog. David Kendell, Clintons main attorney is to her left (our right). Cummings did not disappoint me in his ranking member opening speech, yuck. I imagine that nothing will come from this, the Republicans, so far, as being nice to her, well maybe Peter Roskam, from Illinois, was not letting her not answer questions. However, she rambles on and is using up time, figured that would happen.

This dog and pony show will seal the election for her…just as both sides planned it. This is important since Obama won’t have to plan in declaring Marshall law once he’s sure she has the election sewn up. Next stop: Von Ryan’s express.

I tried to hang in there off and on yesterday. She kept her cool and she had the total backing of the left. They apologized for that BAD RIGHT and talked off topic about other things. The Right was abusive and badgering, or so they say, but damn, they want the truth, that is not too much to ask. And, as usual Cumings pulled his “angry” face out. You know what pisses me off the most is the lives that were lost! The left is not concerned about them, only to protecting their queen. She lied and there are alot of “untruths”, but that will not matter. The media will come out in her favor, if they have not already this morning. Plus, Clinton said she does not care what anybody thinks of her. She is flying high today!!!!

In the video, Ryan begins by adopting a left-wing narrative about GOP voters and suggesting that their opposition to mass migration is fueled by “ignorance.” Ryan rejects the idea that America is “a country”— i.e. a land with a fixed border and heritage—but instead an “idea” since ideas don’t have borders. In the wide-ranging 53 minute video, which took place in Chicago, both Gutierrez and Ryan outline their shared plan for adopting open borders: that is, a national policy of allowing companies to bring in and hire as many foreign workers as they would like. This “free movement” of people across national boundaries is the centerpiece of the open borders ideology to which Ryan has devoted much of his career.

We want to have a system where people can come here and work– go back and forth if they want to… so that we have an open door to the people who want to come and contribute to our country, who want to come and make a difference in their families’ lives, and our economy… That’s why we have all of these various principles that we agree work if we put this together… and that’s why it’s very encouraging to see Republicans and Democrats coming together on this issue.

We are done. Sold out once more.

Yes, I guess we just need to shut up and take our medicine, right? Tell me how the Republicans (other than a handful) are any different than the Democrats? I guess we should say what Hillary said “at this point, what difference does it make?” That should cover our bases and we can stop wondering if we are going to pull out of this vast swirling, down the tubes spiral….I kind of think that answer will be a big NO!
I have friends that will not vote for Trump IF he is the candidate….so that pretty much sums it up, they would rather have Clinton and she WILL be the candidate, she has earned that right and it is hers for the taking. Sanders will have a nice cushy place in the Administration or at least be promised a place. However, in the end he will be shoved aside as a useful idiot that played their game, but it is a “no win”, so he will have been used and tossed, like numerous people in the Clintons past. I fail to see how others cannot remember this, but guess they have a very short attention span.

Clinton will be the nominee because that is who the establishment wants and in a normal election period Jeb would also be the nominee for the same reason. But Trump has changed the dynamics because he cannot be suffocated out of the race due to a lack of funds therefor he is in for the long term. Personally I don’t think Trump can win the Presidency but if enough people have finally said enough is enough he could pull it off.

If it is Trump, I WILL vote for him, at least he is forceful enough to maybe bring the USA back to its’ former status. We know what will happen with others. Cruz, I like and maybe for a VP at the moment. Carson, I still cannot see in the Presidential Category, but would love to have him in the Administration. West would be a plus as would Napolitano if we could ever get the Judge to commit to it. On the other side, it WILL be Clinton unless somehow they pull it off and jail that woman for all the stuff she has done. I do not see that happening, but will keep up with thinking it might. Even if we could pull off winning, there is still that pesky voter fraud that will pop its’ head out of works and start ticking up the votes that should never be. We have seen it before. I hesitate to say it, but wouldn’t it be nice if the Republicans played the same game that the Democrats play? I am not saying it is right, but at what point do you just throw in the towel and try and beat them at their OWN game? That may be the only way to do it.

I watched FOX news last night with Bret interviewing the 3 contractors that were there during Benghazi trying to help that wrote the book on the 13 hours of the attack. I still feel they are the ones telling the truth and NOT Clinton. Why do others not see it? You can see the pain as they speak, at least they still have feelings, unlike Clinton. I hope that Gowdy has something of a miracle up his sleeve that he has not played yet. I know at the hearing, right at the last he brought up about Sid Blumenthal and we had not heard the last about his emails, Clinton got a “look” on her face she tried to hide, but I think it might have been fear. We can only hope!

I know, Laura, as are most the rest of us. They are going to push until she has the Presidency, we know that. I like Trey Gowdy and Jim Jordan and Mike Pompeo and think they did a good job yesterday, but I was ready Drudge and he thinks Clinton was on some drugs to calm her down…guess that might be one reason she did not have an outburst. As someone sitting on the sidelines, I would have had alot more questions…they should have let the families of the VICTIMS come up with questions they wanted answered. I wonder if Clinton could have kept her cool then!

I started hearing a shit load of sirens sounding off and the husband had just left, so had to call him to make sure he was not in an accident. He answered, but said he saw alot of emergency vehicles headed towards our area….guess once an EMT always an EMT, my head starts swiveling and eyes and ears start scanning and listening to figure out what is happening…I still go into adrenaline rush mode.
