Sunday, November 15th open thread: ‘So Far Away’
Here is the open thread for Sunday, November 15th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
Well, this was more like a normal week with 10 stories covered, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!
I had my follow-up appointment with the neurologist last Monday and everything went well. First, as suspected, the tumor which was removed was benign! I have no restrictions other than not being able to lift more than 10 pounds and I can go back to work on December 1st. Once I get back to work I still cannot lift over 10 pounds for three months, which means no lifting for me until March. I feel great and I have no pain anymore, I have not had to take Tylenol in two days.

LFO were a British electronic music act on the Warp Records label.From Leeds
LFO were pioneers of the bass-heavy techno, IDM, and acid house music of the late 1980s to mid-1990s. Originally, the group was composed of Gez Varley (born 1971) and Mark Bell. (1971–2014)[1] After Varley left in 1996, LFO was Bell alone. Bell died in October 2014.
The group’s name is derived from the abbreviation for the term Low-Frequency Oscillator, a synthesizer function widely used in electronic music.
The Residents – The Sleeper (1980)
The Residents are an American art collective best known for avant-garde music and multimedia works. Since their first official release, Meet the Residents (1974), the group has released over sixty albums, numerous music videos and short films, three CD-ROM projects, and ten DVDs. They have undertaken seven major world tours and scored multiple films. Pioneers in exploring the potential of CD-ROM and similar technologies, the Residents have won several awards for their multimedia projects. Ralph Records, a record label focusing on avant-garde music, was started by the band.
Boston- More than A Feeling (1976)
Boston is an American rock band from Boston, Massachusetts, that achieved their most notable successes during the 1970s and 1980s. Centered on guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer Tom Scholz, the band is a staple of classic rock radio playlists.[1] Boston’s best-known works include the songs “More Than a Feeling”, “Peace of Mind”, “Foreplay/Long Time”, “Rock and Roll Band”, “Smokin'”, “Don’t Look Back”, and “Amanda”. They have sold over 31 million albums in the United States, of which 17 million were from their self-titled debut album and seven million were for its second album, Don’t Look Back. Altogether, the band has released six studio albums.

Boston – yep, big during the 70s when I heard them. Some of those songs were played so much I tired of them – but they had their message as well: And I begin dreaming (more than a feeling) … wanting a different reality in which to live.

I liked Bernard Lavilliers’ Swiss. Music – the universal language. I’ve heard the Canned Heat song too many times! … driving from college in a friend’s car who played that and Grateful Dead (over and over), to visit our parents! But they did a good job of it.
Liked your comment about ‘a haven reality’ or ‘heavenly reality’! That desire is deep inside of our being, like a flicker of a flame that burns for Home – a God given hope of a reality where we’re given a freshness, a new nature, perfect, a free spirit and a joy to live and create!
Some in Philosophy have called it Utopia. But, the reality of the sin nature doesn’t make that possible for ALL, just the select FEW who rule. This Eternal reality that you long for has to be REAL or you wouldn’t long for it (none of us would!), or even consider it exists! If something is ‘there’ it came from a source, in this case, Someone made it or it wouldn’t have being. Sounds like you want to join in the fun of creating too! in one with the Divine Nature – sonship, adult child of inheritance [Ephesian 1:11]. Thanks for your kind friendship too Swiss! A 😊to you to fill your day and put a log on the fire of your God given Eternal flame!

Songs from my past! Brings back good and bad memories, some bitter sweet ones, but am sure everyone else has those kind of songs, as well. Hope you are well, SDL, I have been pretty preoccupied around here, so have not had time to post much OR read….will have to make time, I feel I miss out on alot when I cannot see what my friends are posting here! Sometimes it is just easier to make it thru the day when I know there are like minds and sometimes ones that are not so alike, but still willing to listen to others. We have never met, but still we become friends, wonder how that works??

Thanks for sharing. That first video really makes me mad! To see people who are willing to twist the Word and use it for their own benefit while taking advantage of the people who follow them really gets under my skin!

I agree Steve. It’s sickening and repulsive! But, those who follow them are so caught up by the lie they will ignorantly and emotionally defend them and even pay to go see them! It’s a spiritual blindness that’s preyed upon. I’ve lost friends because of this. They won’t hear the truth – it’s like a ‘liberal’ mentality – believing the lie over the truth. ‘Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Thanks Zip. Everyone who saw the CAT scans and the MRIs said that it was almost certain to be benign but until they actually got it out and tested it nothing was certain so it feels good to now know 100% that it was benign.

Ok, great to hear you are mending well. 100% is the best it gets, so you should be able to put it behind you, still take it slow (imagine your wife will see to that) and finally heave that sigh of relief that you were waiting to do….what was that movie, oh ya, Waiting to Exhale. Imagine that some higher power might have had a hand in it as well! 🙂

Thanks Lou, I am going slow but it isn’t easy because I feel good. No lifting until March seems like overkill but I will try to do what I am told.

It is not easy when you are trying to keep a positive outlook and you have something that could be “nothing” or really “something”. It is something you cannot get away from. I have gone thru that and besides it being a massive relief, you also have that feeling you get when you have been trying to be strong and finally you can let it out. Guess that is what we have our support group for, right? It makes things easier to deal with when you know others are worrying right along with you.
I am so, so glad that everything came out the best of the best for you. Now you have a new chapter to write and what I refer to as “a new lease on life”! The petty stuff just seems less important, doesn’t it?
