Barack Obama claims 99.5% of scientists agree on global warming
Despite the fact that more and more scientists are beginning to question man-made global warming in the wake of the news that NASA has been changing historical global temperatures in order to hide the decline, the global warming alarmists continue to claim 97% of scientists believe global warming is a real problem. You would think that eventually the number would go down, but not Barack Obama.
Fresh off of his global warming summit Barack Obama made the claim that 99.5% of scientists believe global warming is a problem, here is more:
“Whoever is the next president of the United States, if they come in and they suggest somehow that that global consensus — not just 99.5% of scientists and experts, but 99% of world leaders — think this is really important, I think the president of the United States is going to need to think this is really important.”
First of all I think we need to take the notion that 99% of world leaders think this is a problem with a grain of salt. Who cares what they think because they are looking at this through a political prism and not through a scientific prism. They have an agenda that has nothing to do with saving the planet. I would love to know where Barack Obama came up with this new number all of a sudden, but of course he did not site a source he just threw that number out there.
While we are on the subject concerning the percentage of scientists who believe global warming is a problem I think we should take a moment to look at where the 97% number came in the first place. When we do this we find the number was flawed (purposely?) from the beginning.
The origin of the “97 percent” statistic has been traced back to a 2009 study by University of Illinois/Chicago graduate student Kendall Zimmerman, who sent a survey to 10,257 earth scientists asking them two questions:
“When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?” and
“Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?”
Eighty-two percent of the 3,146 scientists who completed the survey (a 30.7% response rate) answered “yes” to question 2.
So only 30.7% of the scientists who were surveyed bothered to answer the survey and of that 30.7% only 82% answered yes to the question of global warming being man-made, so where does the 97% number come from?
That figure included 75 of the 79 individuals (97.4%) who self-identified themselves as climate scientists.
The survey was sent to over 10,000 scientists and out of that group 79 of those who bothered to answer the survey identified themselves as climate scientists, and out of that number 75 of them said global warming was man-made. So it turns out for all the hoopla this whole notion that 97% of scientists believe global warming is man-made we are taking the word of 75 scientists out of a total of over 10,000 scientists.
The number was always fraudulent and now Barack Obama has increased the number in order to promote a crisis which does not exist so that it can be exploited for political purposes.

But tell us how you really feel, Steve! We are back to “Global Warming” again? Wasn’t it just “Climate Change: the last time I checked? And of course they tried “Global Cooling” for awhile, that didn’t go over too well. You now, the earth does what it wants, with or without us. We are inconsequential in the whole scope of things. Long after OUR species is gone, the earth will survive. However, if you buck the system, they go after you with everything they have got. That they have to take it to a percentage, tells me they got NOTHING! They can always pay someone for their “expert opinion” to sway the little people or use scare tactics, ya, they like to do that one the most. The UN is always lurking around in the background, so we know they have alot to do with this Warming thing. Plus, then we, the US, needs to give more money to some other country (their dictator will swallow most of it) to help them save the planet on their side of the globe. I am troubled and weary when it comes to “Climate or Global whatever it is”. Carry on, Steve!

Was it Dove or Ivory that was 99.9% pure?

Actually, it was Ivory and it was ONLY 99.44% pure!

So, climate change scientists are 0.06% more pure than Ivory was! I will rest easy now.

Coincidently speaking of 99% thats the same percentage of the 50% of the inner city black unemployed who voted for and still slobber over Barry Hussain Mohammed Bin Obama. The 99% pure white racist soap is Ivory.
P.S. i respected the black community and did not go shopping on their day. Remember when we had White Sales in January following the Christmas holiday? Well we now have MLK Day for shopping in January and Black History Month in February. Just ten more months to go…

Yep, let’s believe him – a liar who gets paid to lie for the world leader’s shadow gov. With whistleblowers being done away with or imprisoned, I guess the scientist figure they retire or go along with the lie programing.

Sadly I think too many people still do believe what he says!
I think many of the scientists who go along with it do it because they are afraid to lose grant money.

Good point Steve: “Dark Money” Funds Climate Change Denial Effort http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/dark-money-funds-climate-change-denial-effort/
Or Forbes: Sound Science And The U.S. Economy Victimized By The EPA’s CIA Fake, John Beale
Brings to mind the purposed release of contaminant water above Durango, CO by the EPA (I heard it happened again soon after but little news got out about it), goal = to get money. Like the solar panels Reid was involved in S. of Tonopah, NV – placing them where the clouds linger, while killing thousands of birds that take that route (eagles included) and the work was done by a Swiss group (not even an American Company). I’m glad to hear that it was his brother who knocked him around some and it wasn’t the alleged rubber band from his ‘exercise machine’ (which company he’s suing! link below this comment). It there was no money to come from it they’d go to where there was … maybe Putin could lure them to ‘his area’ and take care of them for us!

Speaking of solar panels: An acquaintance of mine, a roofer, was installing solar panels in residences in South Jersey. He said these Chines imported panels contain asbestos and if one goes into disrepair the homeowner is responsible for the servicing or removal which must be done by a certified asbestos removal company an incredibly expensive proposition shouldered by the home owner. I tend to believe him. This to sell excess power to power companies? Why bother.

Interesting Peter, sounds about right – causing more of a problem than solving it – esp. being from China (who’s buying up or own so much of America’s businesses already. Even Apple computers are made by them and shipped here!). With those panels in NV they have to be cleaned – using local water of course, in a high desert drought region. Most articles about this are written to positively support it, making the project ‘sound oh so good’ (cost close to 1 billion to build it). Crescent Dunes – even the name brings to mind the crescent moon and sand. Where’d they come up with that name. I’m trying to see where the power goes and who it supplies power to. My brother told me the farther they have to ship it the more it bleeds off. So, like you say, ‘why bother?’ $$$ and control.

“Did Harry Reid’s Brother Beat Him Up?”
http://www.fitsnews.com/2015/04/06/did-harry-reids-brother-beat-him-up/
They have one man stating he made it up – another paid off rat: ‘No, Harry Reid was not beaten up by his brother, says the man who concocted the false rumor to explain the Senate minority leader’s injuries after an exercise accident several months ago.’ by the Politico, of course: Las Vegas man admits concocting story about Harry Reid’s eye But the real story took place in Henderson at an AA meeting.
Parasite Reid in his pride (brings to mind Peter’s subject of the self-consuming nature of prideful and corrupt humankind) to cover himself is suing TheraBand for $50,000 – he’ll probably get it too (can’t take it with him though after someone else takes him out permanently).
As for the reason for him leaving his crony position: ‘A Republican Attorney General would be almost certain to initiate a criminal investigation into Reid’s abuse of his political power in a brazen intervention in the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) issuance of EB-5 visas to investors in a Las Vegas casino and hotel that was represented by his son, Rory Reid, as was highlighted in a report released by the Inspector General of DHS last week.’ HERE’S THE REAL REASON: Why Harry Reid Is Retiring – And It’s Definitely Worse Than a Black Eye by Clash Daily (March 28, ’15)

My question with all the global crap, will the next President be able to get us out of alot of this stuff that Obama has signed our name to? He has forced so much on the American people and I hope there are ways to cancel most of it after he has left office.

Peter, along with the dinosaurs, proving global warming, the “Ice age” does it for me.
Heck for all that ice to melt the earth had to warm up pretty good.
Umm, my only question is with all that ice around how did all the “Hummers/Suv’s” and their
Co2 belching combustible engines get around?
There had to be at least 187 Zillion Hummers to get that much Co2 in the air dontcha think? 🙂

I wondered that as well Lou, but Oblabla has proven all you need is a pen and cell phone to change law, so if we get a non-leftist president, maybe his pen and cell phone can save the day.

Steve, great post. Can you help me out here? I remember the exact thing happening after the first UN AGW report. They made it look great. But when you looked at the numbers and those that actually completed it, it was like “28” people. LOL No really it was that bad.
I did a few posts on it on another blog which I don’t have access anymore, and I’ve been Googling, and I swear that data has been wiped, or I just can’t find it.
So do you have any idea of what I’m talking about, and if so can you point me in the right direction to look at it again.
Thanks, Steve (Also) 🙂

Thanks Steve. I am sure it happened before as well but I am not sure if the numbers I used in this post were from the same report you are talking about or a different one. Another commenter here on another post, I think it was Laura, mentioned the small sample size of the study so maybe she can shed some light on this if she sees this comment.

Steve, it was definitely different, and even worse than this.
The first IPCC First Assessment Report was in 1990 I believe. I had found a copy on the net, and if memory serves it was something like of the 17,000 scientists that took the info packet, only maybe 25 completed the study. Out of the 25 I think only 17 yes 17 actually said man was responsible. 5 said man was not responsible, and 3 said it was happening, but could not assess blame.
You really had to dig down to find the details, but they touted it as a consensus of thousands of scientists even then.
I know I did posts on it on a blog I’m no longer affiliated with, and I will check there , but my ex partner may have deleted all my posts.
I’ve tried the net and it seems scrubbed. I have not tried wayback machine.
I’m on a quest, and if Laura see’s this can you please help.
Will let you know when I find it.
Steve
