Pennsylvania college students want to rename ‘Lynch Memorial Hall’ due to racial overtones

December 10, 2015

I have written several posts on how political correctness has run amok on college campuses all across the nation, a summary of which can be read here. And there is more but now we have another case. Students at a college in Pennsylvania, Lebanon Valley College, want to have Lynch Memorial Hall’s name changed due to racial undertones.

  Here is more:

Students at a small Pennsylvania college are demanding that administrators rename a building called “Lynch Memorial Hall” because of the racial overtones of the word “lynch.”

The building is named after Clyde A. Lynch, who was president of Lebanon Valley College from 1932 until his death in 1950.

Students want school officials to either rename the building entirely or add Lynch’s first name and middle initial, saying the word recalls the public executions of black men by white mobs in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

It was included on a list of demands that students presented to the school on Friday. Other demands include a more diverse curriculum, more sensitivity training for staff and regular surveys of the racial climate on campus.

Of course the name of this hall has nothing to do with race and is not a reference to lynchings, it is named in honor of a man who is a “very important figure” in the history of the college, it is simply naive and silly to equate the two, but that will not stop the politically correct police from acting on emotion rather than on the history of the school.

On a side note, I wonder how these students will react when they learn what the name of our Attorney General is?

There was a time when such people were either dismissed as hopeless neurotics or simply told to grow up. How did they ever achieve the credibility to make anyone listen to them?

Somehow over the years they have become the mainstream, I don’t know how it happened but I guess it happened so slowly that we didn’t notice it in time.

Decades ago this college was considered a small town conservative college. I had friends who attended. How and where they got this present student body tells us how in one generation we have succumbed to the Progressives.

Aren’t you all tired of everyone that is OFFENDED by who knows what? Every day it keeps getting more stupid (and you know what I think of stupid people), at what point will we not be able to open our mouths without offending someone? These schools are teaching that it is ok to be upset about almost anything and file a complaint. What is wrong with just “sucking it up” and dealing with something? Does it have to go VIRAL on the internet and have lawyers involved? What kind of adults are these kids going to be, that is IF they ever grow up? All this name changing of HISTORY has got to stop, as well. I know what they are doing, they will try and rewrite history as if things never happened. We are at that cross roads, I fear! Next they will be asking people to change their last names because they are offensive…yep, where does it end? I think the ADULTS need to take over, but I am just not too sure there are many of us left. I DO know they need to take over the White House and pretty damn quick.

Everyone is offended by everything today and I am offended at how easily offended people are! 😉 One of the problems with this is that by shielding these young ones from having to confront unpleasant (or perceived unpleasant) things when they are younger they are going to have no idea how to deal with difficult issues in the real world when they leave their little “safe place.”

You are so correct….couple that with the “participation” ribbons everyone gets at sports events and why would anyone want to excel in anything? We all have to be the same, so much for how we were taught.

That’s right Lou, everyone is a winner even if they lose. There is a car commercial out there, Kia maybe, where the father rips the participation sticker from his child’s trophy and writes champs in. It is a great commercial if you have not seen it.

I agree with the negros and negro lovers because as a non-black I am offended by many things named for blacks even though whites discovered them such as blackboards, black eyes, black and blue, Black Friday, Black Sabbath….oops- forget that one, black tie affairs, Orange Julius- Orange is the new black, black, little black books and Chicago Black. Hawks. I demand nuetral colors for all these things or my hurt feelings will never mend.

    OTOTOT:
I ran across this short video of Trey Gowdy questioning about the K1 Visa and Waivers programs. The lady he is questioning is an idiot, sorry to say that but she IS! If all she has to do is sit there and say she doesn’t have the information and doesn’t know anything and gets paid the big bucks, as I am sure she is…..SIGN ME UP FOR THAT JOB! It is unbelievable that this is what they send in to a committee for questioning! If I was one asking the questions and got the same answer over and over,I would be calling for someones head…this is so blatantly stupid and no one can do anything about it, apparently. I bet the administration is laughing about all of it, no doubt! This is just all a big game to them, isn’t it?

I am completely enamored with Trey Gowdy. Kind of like a school-girl crush. Sigh. 🙂

My mom loves Justified and Timothy Oliphant. Nick Searcy – he plays Art Mullen on the show – retweeted a couple of my tweets one time.

It must be frustrating Zip! She is going to a hearing and she has an idea of what kind of questions she is going to be asked and she has no information. Normally I would say she is incompetent but in this case I wonder if it was willful neglect on her part.

Not Zip posting this one but me. Lou. I ran across this and the previous video. It seems this is how the hearings go. I wish for once someone would smack down on these people that sit there are either act stupid (might not be an act) or have that smirk on their face, as if they know nothing will be done to them. It is like flunking a test when then are unprepared, but with no consequences. Like I said, this Administration must be getting a big laugh out of how they put one over on that Committee.

He always does…maybe President Trump will have a place for him in the upcoming new and improved Administration…well, either he will or Vice-president (President at a later date) Cruz will have a slot open.
