December 13th open thread: Change (In the House of Flies)
Here is the open thread for Sunday, December 13th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.
I always consider it to be a mixed blessing when we get to double digit posts because while it means America’s Watchtower was active it also means the Federal government was as well; this week we covered 11 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? It worked after I clicked on going to youtube to watch the video.
I read about the 4 terrorists there, I just do not think this is going to end well for any of us. Our countries need to become more aggressive with taking the cells out. Wish we had some of the “old” leaders from the past, they did not take any crap from anyone. Now we have to be politically correct, at all cost and that cost will be lives.

Interesting Swiss ~ as usual.
The foot on the grapes – right there an illustration of Creation. The complexity of a foot, the toes, heel, the bones, muscles, tendons, the intricacies of it all and the functioning ability – really quite a wonder! But us humans get drawn and pulled into the mire of dark thoughts and complexities that divert our thinking from anything wondrous and fine, rather our attentions go to the opposite. It’s our nature, a constant battle to not drown in the sorrows of life … the vale of tears and the valley of the shadow of death. That’s where Psalms 23 comes in and Phil 4:19 where the Good News overrides the bad – if only we’d believe that, if only we could remember before we’re sucked down into despair and ruin! Oh, to view the world and wonders thru the eyes of a child, but conduct ourselves in the manner of a mature and moral adult! Well … that song sure stirred up the brewing pot on the back burner didn’t it!

Same here SDL, I had to click on a link to view it on Youtube but it did work. I think Lou is spot on, this sounds quite a bit like Cohen and I liked it quite a bit.

I have not been able to figure it out either Zip. I heard this song the other day and decided to post it so I looked up the lyrics as well. It almost sounds as if it is about a person who forces someone to change and then laughs at the change even though it might not be for the best. As I said it is a very dark song and you have to wonder if there is a deeper meaning to the change he is talking about. It is definitely a metaphoric.

Symbolically flies are considered dirty and the pulling off of the wings doesn’t change it to be something it isn’t – other than wingless and bound. ‘… feel so alive …’ because of the change? Maybe to the one who sadistically deformed it. The reference to the ‘cross’, again a misunderstanding of what that means and the true freedom gained by one’s act of dying for all (whoso ever will believe and receive). Lots of dissonant sounds as well. We agree that it’s not a Happy Song! 😊

There is allot of symbolism in this song (and I knew when I posted it that you would see the symbolism and I hoped you would read the lyrics and give your input because I find this very interesting!) especially how he absolves himself from blame.
He looks away after he changes her and he also looks away from the cross. The reference to the cross is interesting because while we sin and we are forgiven if we ask for it, it still does not mean we are not responsible for our actions or how our actions have affected others.

*Didn’t see this in my notification box, just happened to catch it now! Glad you figured I’d look up the lyrics and have some thoughts Steve – making me work like that! What comes to mind about the cross is, to some it means Life and payment for their debt, but to others it means guilt, blame, one day a ‘final judgement’ and exposure – their life is over, no more time for them to fulfill/act out their sickness. The verse that comes to mind (two, just to explain it better!) ‘But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 1 Cor 2:7-8

God tripped up the crafty and used them for His own Live giving purpose!
Those “princes of this world” are still in positions of power today (different people filling the role) – same source inspiring them ‘In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.’ 2 Cor 4:4

Another thought came to mind Steve. Considering the caterpillar that becomes a butterfly. The beauty of that metamorphosis, is similar to when a person changes – is saved – when they come to believe the truth of Christ – they transformed by the power of God. And the more one feeds on the Word of Life the more alive they become. The adversary determines to strip the believer of their wings (their new found freedom and liberty) and encage them, making them dysfunctional – which gives a sense of power and life to the adversary. BUT when a believer wears the ‘armor of God’ they are protected by and empowered by God’s Word and the Truth that resides in them. That’s why the adversary writes conflicting bibles and has preachers preach wrongly God’s word making it void and of no effect. So, that song of sickness can reflect very well the perversion that goes on in the spiritual realm – ‘For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.’ Ephesians 6:12

Very interesting thoughts Zip! I guess that makes me a butterfly now! The cross should not be seen as guilt and blame because it is the cross which redeems us if we accept it.
I love the way you used the analogy of the fly as a way to describe temptation and people trying to bring us down and to try to take away our redemption. By the way, I apologize for making you work. 🙂

What I meant about the cross is that he does speak of ‘sin’. The guy in the song ‘looks away’ from it, he doesn’t acknowledge it for what it is – what it stands for, he rejects it. For those who look to the cross as the necessary ‘finished work’ the Lord preformed for ‘all who believe’ (upon his shed blood for the forgiveness of sin) it’s stating that guilt was paid for there. Acknowledging the ‘reason’ for why Jesus had to die on the cross, in fulfillment of the sin debt being paid, to us who believe is new life (change) to those who turn from the cross they’re already dead (in their sins) spiritually.
Yes, maybe better to do an easier one next time 😊

He also absolves himself from whatever blame he has in the change by looking away. It is also interesting that after this change occurs he says it was like the person never had wings, it is like whatever this change is it is complete and the old person is gone forever.

Okay, I’ll bit again on this Steve! We have to quit coming up with such interesting thoughts and analogies!!
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Just as one man brought in sin, one man pays the debt, nails it to the cross, and brings in New Life – making a ‘new creature’ and forming the Body of Christ.
One more thought – just as Eve was taken out of the first man, the new creature is placed into the Body of Christ – called the church (not of a human made building but a work of the Holy Spirit)! God’s will and purpose coming to fullness, His desire from the first!

Could only play the first one Swiss- the other is banned in the US. I have some vids that are banned in Germany – esp. those that speak to things like ‘War for Profit’ or other one’s because of a song (Dan Fogelberg’s ‘Longer’) Let’s see if you can watch it where you are:
That first vid does show the times does it Swiss. I was just watching an old Doris Day musical, ‘Moonlight Bay’ and the songs they sung totally different from today’s!

Interesting videos Zip, thanks for sharing them. That first one is spot on; they are trying to destroy nationalism and pride in culture in an attempt to homogenize the whole human race because this will destroy the need for borders and help the globalists achieve their goals.
