Bill Nye is upset people are not talking about global warming over the Christmas holiday

December 25, 2015

I have been waiting for scientists, liberals, and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) to blame the warm Christmas weather on global warming but until recently I have been disappointed. But then a few days ago Bette Midler became the first celebrity to claim that global warming was the cause of the warm weather and now Bill Nye, The Science Guy, is lamenting the fact that people are not talking about this issue.

  Here is the interview:

“We have a situation where no one in regular television will say the phrase ‘climate change,'” Nye said.

“Nobody will mention this phrase. But the world’s getting warmer so when there’s an El Niño event, which is where the surface of the Pacific Ocean gets a little warmer, yes, you get these two things here in North America. You get more moisture in the atmosphere out west, which generally leads to more snow, which is what we have.”

“And then you get the warm weather back east … Since there’s more heat energy in the atmosphere, these two phenomena are amplified.”

He said the fact that “nobody will say anything about this” is what he would call “troubling.”

He loves to talk about science and yet he, like Bette Midler, is purposely ignoring the fact that NOAA recently admitted the warm Christmas weather was natural and not related to global warming and we know the reason why: this is a political issue and not an environmental issue, and he proves this by stating scientists have linked the economy, jobs. and terrorism to global warming. But of course they have, it is the best way thy believe they can gain enough support with the American people to push their radical agenda.

He then goes on to claim conservatives will lose the election if they deny global warming, and I suppose that if the left is successful at linking these unrelated issues to global warming he might be right, but I doubt people are saying to themselves “if we just do something about global warming I will be able to find a job.” I think this lame attempt will fail.  As if all of this was not a stretch in and of itself he also tries to link global warming to medical costs.

He also states that climate change is the perfect term because cold, warm, and extreme weather (all of which is natural) can be blamed on it, and that of course is why the term is now being used; the revolution will be complete when the language is perfect, but I digress…

Of course he does not leave big oil out of the equation, ignoring that NASA recently admitted that burning fossil fuels actually cools the planet

He is the one denying science by ignoring what NOAA recently said about the warm weather and what NASA recently said about burning fossil fuels while at the same time calling us the deniers. You cannot have it both ways, but then again maybe you can…at least if you are a global warming alarmist. Then you are allowed to ignore science when it is beneficial to your radical agenda.

It’s sad that Bill has drunk (wrote drank, but voc-check says that is the wrong tense of the perfect verb[wow]) deeply from the Kool-aid pitcher, but it looks like he is now Bill Nye, the sham guy.

It seems like “has drunk” is okay to me, without the “has” I would say “drank” is right but what do I know? 😉 Bill Nye is now just part of the propaganda machine.

You could rephrase it by taking out ‘has.’ It’s sad that Bill drank deeply from the kool-aid pitcher…

Or, you could use present tense. It’s sad that Bill is drinking deeply from the kool-aid pitcher…

Either way, I like your new name for him. 😉

Those darn conjugations always through me. I guess I was sick that year. But I did like to diagram sentences. Do they do that anymore?

I remember little ‘tricks’ from grade & middle school that I still use today. I, also, remember School House Rock, I loved watching it on Saturday mornings between cartoons!!!

I have no idea if schools still teach diagramming. My kids are long, long out of grade/middle school and I have no grandchildren, yet.

The internet is an awesome tool! I use it all the time to ‘refresh’ my memory on grammar rules. 😉

Hey, as long as WE know what we meant, does it really matter? I think we have more problems in the world to deal with than worrying about a “tense”, but then again who am I! Diagram sentences? I doubt it, Bruce! I had an 8th grade English teacher, that made us diagram every day! This is the same teacher that got his law degree years later. My best friend (another of his students) and I saw him at the court house one day and after talking to him, we BOTH mentioned how intimidating he still was, haha! Guess we were transported back to 8th grade. Are we better having done all that diagramming? Who the hell knows! Still, he did make an impression on us.

I mostly agree with your first two sentences – I am not a spelling or grammar nazi with anyone but myself (unless someone asks a question) – but we can’t lose the little things that keep us civilized.

Before I learned how to not correct other people – I was really, really bad when I was younger and with my ex-husband (one the things he really disliked and contributed to our divorce).

We are not progressing forward as a Country, we are regressing backwards – in many, many ways. We don’t educate – we indoctrinate with proven failed ideologies and reading, ‘riting, & ‘rithmetic is not taught anymore; religion is being suppressed – except for one that isn’t even a religion, but a complete political, social, and quasi-religious ideology; free speech has never been in such jeopardy in my lifetime (I know it’s only a 50 yr lifetime, hehehe); and our other Rights, freedoms, and liberties are being completely violated like I’ve only ever read about in history books.

I like to see people paying attention to the ‘little things’ – keeps hope alive for me….even if it’s just about grammar, lol. 🙂

Sorry, I got off on the diagramming a sentence and forgot to post that Bill Nye is an idiot…that is what I meant to say. Our kids are thinking he is a genius, we must go forth and spread the word that he is anything but that and is a stooge for the Climate Change People, whomever they be! Or is that whoever? Oh well, you understand!

I am pretty sure they do not diagram sentences any more but that is just a hunch. I wonder how many kids remember hims from his show, that isn’t on any more is it? If they do remember him then it gives them a “celebrity” who supposedly knows what he is talking about on this issue and gives it credibility in their minds.

Control the language and you control the culture. If for no other reason I do want to keep the traditional language going. My mother’s pet peeve was “irregardless” so guess how I “got her goat”.

I grew up thinking ‘irregardless’ was not a word. Recently, I discovered it was a word, but it’s an erroneous word. The prefix and suffix are both negative and cancel each other out. So it actually means the opposite of what people think it means.

Many people think it is a synonym for irrespective. Which is a synonym for regardless.

It’s cute that you teased your mother that way. I hope she enjoyed it, too. I love when my kids and I have inside jokes like that.

“Irregardless” is a pet peeve of mine as well but my biggest one is “whole nother'” instead of another whole. it drives me crazy that we here news people use this term nowadays.
Bruce, you are right about controlling the language and that is what the whole PC movement is about.

So Laura, if I am adding a possessive to Bernie Sanders should I just add the apostrophe or should I add an additional s? I looked it up and it said both are acceptable but I prefer not adding the additional s, I think it looks funny.

I have always just added the ‘ without the additional s. I think it looks funny, too. I would, also, say ‘Bernie Sanders fault’ and not ‘Bernie Sanderses fault.’

        I know, I’m a contradiction. 🙂

If they’d would’ve turned around, walked thru the Bright Angel out to the S. Rim they would’ve really seen it! But, this group is blind to the beauty, loveliness and truth, they see what something isn’t and as a authority of what it is!

Even Drudge is in on ‘it’. ‘Drudge posted a huge headline about Christmas eve being as warm as July, and then linked to this temperature map, … But anyone who was not a victim of common core education ought to know this is normal, because the temperatures in coastal New England are almost entirely determined by the direction of the wind coming off the Atlantic. What Drudge has done is a clear cut example of hoax journalism, where just because one spot is warm it has to be abnormal all the while temperatures everywhere else are normal with a few areas colder than normal, which is normal.’

The el nino and la nina weather events are part of the Earth’s normal climate cycles. They are not caused by man. First recorded el nino was 1578.

(Gonna use a wikipedia source, but it cites it’s sources for these facts.)

They been occurring every 2-7 for the past 300 years.

Evidence is also strong for El Niño events during the early Holocene epoch 10,000 years ago.[86]

El Niño affected pre-Columbian Incas [87] and may have led to the demise of the Moche and other pre-Columbian Peruvian cultures.[88] A recent study suggests a strong El-Niño effect between 1789 and 1793 caused poor crop yields in Europe, which in turn helped touch off the French Revolution.[89] The extreme weather produced by El Niño in 1876–77 gave rise to the most deadly famines of the 19th century.[90] The 1876 famine alone in northern China killed up to 13 million people.[91]

An early recorded mention of the term “El Niño” to refer to climate occurred in 1892, when Captain Camilo Carrillo told the geographical society congress in Lima that Peruvian sailors named the warm north-flowing current “El Niño” because it was most noticeable around Christmas. The phenomenon had long been of interest because of its effects on the guano industry and other enterprises that depend on biological productivity of the sea.

Charles Todd, in 1893, suggested droughts in India and Australia tended to occur at the same time; Norman Lockyer noted the same in 1904. An El Niño connection with flooding was reported in 1895 by Pezet and Eguiguren. In 1924, Gilbert Walker (for whom the Walker circulation is named) coined the term “Southern Oscillation”. He and others (including one of the finest Norwegian-American meteorologists Jacob Bjerknes) are generally credited with identifying the El Niño effect.[92]

One MN season (early 2000s?) a gal I knew was riding her Hog (Harley) on Christmas day. Today in the high NV desert the bunnies and jacks have their winter coats & booties on – snow and colder than most central and N.E. areas!

Laura, forget about corrections, even your correction of the correction had a wrong spelling….Brit, Snopes is SO not going to ever tell us the truth IF it is in favor of Conservatism….Zip, what is going on with your computer??? Steve you are just confusing people, are you messing with them?
I, also read Drudge Report…but did anyone know there is a Drudge Retort, as well..it is views from the left, have not been on it in awhile, must go look.
Bruce, save yourself! If I started any of this with the Snopes comment, I apologize 🙂 IF I left anyone out, consider yourself lucky!

The owner of the Drudge Retort used to come by here once in awhile and drop bombs but he has not been here in a long time. Can’t say I miss him…

After reading over the “chain of events”, I have come to the conclusion that YES, it is Bruces’ fault OR Bruce was the one at fault OR we can just say we are blaming it on BRUCE!

Well, as “they” say, “Lie, deny and make them prove it”, right? On top of that, you have to consider what the meaning of “is”, “is”…..or in this case “it’s”….sorry, I had to stir the pot again!
Have a good evening, all, it felt good to just get a bit silly this evening….we need to blow off steam once in awhile!

OT, I ran across this article. We had been discussing awhile back the diseases that are coming to the US. This kind of expands what is going on…..

Well! I finally finished the article! It took me forever because I kept allowing myself to be distracted by other things.

Very good article! I am all in favor of completely closing our borders!!

Yep, it kind of consolidated it, maybe a bit long, but at least it gave the facts. The lying pieces of crap will never tell the truth of what is going on. All our kids are getting sick in the schools that are bringing the illegals in….that is not a coincidence and we know it.

I just cancelled my membership to the Planetary Society of which I have been a member since 1991. Bill Nye is of course the president of the Society. I refuse to donate my hard earned money to an organization that promotes wealth redistribution through the Climate Change Progressive agenda.
