Then vs Now: Joe Biden on replacing a Supreme Court Justice during an election year

February 22, 2016

Joe Biden has gone on record as saying that the Republican calls for Barack Obama to not name a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia “do not make sense” at this “critical moment in American history.”

  Here is more:

Biden said in an interview with MPR News host Cathy Wurzer that calls from some Republicans for Obama to pass on nominating a new Supreme Court justice don’t make sense.

Some Republicans argue that a new justice shouldn’t replace Antonin Scalia, who died last weekend, until after a new president takes office in January.

“To leave the seat vacant at this critical moment in American history is a little bit like saying, ‘God forbid something happen to the president and the vice president, we’re not going to fill the presidency for another year and a half,'” Biden said.

But he did not always feel this way, back in 1992 when a Republican incumbent was running for reelection, he was singing a different tune. Here is the video:

Not only did he say George Bush the elder should not nominate a candidate but he went so far as to say that if he did the Senate should consider blocking the nominee until after the election. This is of course what the leadership in the Republican party today are proposing yet back then it would be protecting the institution but today is being labeled obstructionist. Isn’t it funny how things change…

Here is a good article that has an Obama video that will tell us all what he thinks about a vote for a SC justice:

The left is daring the right to say anything about them blocking SC justice votes. That was then, this is now and things are “different”? Right? Funny how THAT works, you are right!

And of course once we do say something it will be because we are racists…

They say payback is a bitch. Just wait until old Ruth pops her clogs. The wailing will not cease. The seat is “reserved” for a Jew they will shriek. If the Republicans control the Presidency they should not cave to the Jew/zionist lobbies.

CJ, you forgot, it has to be a FEMALE. some people are just more important than others….there will never be another Scalia, at least not if Obama, Clinton or Sanders have anything to do with it

I don’t think we are even going to see another Scalia ever again!

You know, there was a time I thought that Cruz would be the perfect candidate for a SC Justice…now I am not so sure with some of what he has pulled on the Candidates trail to the nomination. I guess I thought he was better than that, but guess they all can have that side of them that they don’t often show. I think he is a very smart and wise man, maybe he got bad advice along the way??

I clicked “send” too soon…had a bit more to say…..I do not trust Rubio, at ALL. When you look back at what he has done in the past, I fully believe he is FOR the illegals, no matter if he comes out and says he will send them all back. We know that is not possible at this point. It is no more possible than to totally disband Obamacare now. Once something gets a hold, it really is not able to be repealed. I know they will try, but there will be parts that will remain. The smart time was when they were trying to put it in force and it got voted in….look at how much time there was that it was NOT up and running we could have stopped it. I am sick of the Democrats AND the Republicans because they ALL knew they were selling us out and selling us a bunch of CRAP! It is a sad day that we, as citizens of the USA have less money/posessions and less worth, but the illegals and refugees are pure gold…we are here only for the money they can extract from us to take care of worthless pieces of crap that need to stay home and make something of their own Countries…it is NOT our problem. As we run out of money and they are bleeding us dry, our Country is taking a nose dive. We have seen this coming and have been unable to stop it, we thought we could by taking the HOUSE/SENATE back, but guess we were fooled.

Guess I am done, the power just went out and back on, time to go fire up the generator, just in case…we have 50+mph winds, that will make those wires dance out there.

Cruz has not handled these accusations well at all and it has hurt him and Rubio has already proven to me he cannot be trusted with the whole Gang of 8 fiasco!

Something that doesn’t happen in this society it seems, nor in it’s leaders: “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.” Today childish manners, thoughts and views are the norm. And change depending on which way the wind (the spirit of the god of this world) blows. But notice it never seems to blow the mature and grown-up way! That would bring competition.

Goes along with the “participation ribbons”! You have to grow up, but there is at least one generation of “adults” that get their feelings hurt, horribly. Then there are those of us that are made of steel, haha! My kids refer to “the look” that I get and they know better than to push me…guess I can thank my Pop, “the look” came from him! I am nice until and up to the point of having to stand my ground, kids now days need that SAFE SPACE….wow! Brown University, out East seems to be one of those places, what kind of kids are they graduating from there?

That’s right Zip, being “mature” today does not seem to mean the same thing it used to. I wonder if it is because we have things so easy today compared to generations past. They had to grow up early and go to work but nowadays it seems the younger generation is more coddled and not expected to grow up.
