Donald Trump might lose all his South Carolina delegates
Donald Trump held a town hall event earlier this week on CNN and he apparently mused about not supporting the eventual GOP nominee if it is not he. With the way the Republican establishment is maneuvering to stop him from becoming the nominee (and putting aside my theory that Donald Trump is purposely trying to get Hillary Clinton elected President for the sake of this post) I would probably also be reluctant to support the eventual nominee if I were in his shoes.
However, it appears as if the billionaire businessman might have fallen into a carefully laid trap by CNN and the Republican establishment because it turns out that South Carolina requires all candidates to pledge allegiance to the eventual nominee as a condition to appear on the primary ballot in that state. As a result of his statement there is now a movement afoot to take away the 50 delegates he won in South Carolina.

Donald Trump’s announcement that he no longer stands by a pledge to support the GOP has thrown his hold on South Carolina’s 50 delegates in doubt.
The Palmetto State was one of several that required candidates to pledge their loyalty to the party’s eventual nominee in order to secure a slot on the primary ballot. Though Trump won all of the state’s delegates in the Feb. 20 primary, anti-Trump forces are plotting to contest their binding to Trump because of his threat on the pledge Tuesday.
It turns out that this pledge is nothing new in South Carolina so this was not merely an attempt by the Republican establishment at forcing Donald Trump to swear off a third party run, and is more likely a scenario where the Republican establishment is taking advantage of an already existing stipulation.
The loyalty pledge is nothing new in South Carolina, where it has been required for decades, but took on new focus in light of Trump’s public musings about a third party run or withdrawing his support from the eventual nominee if he is stopped at a contested convention.
The article I linked to above claims there are several states which require this pledge but it does not say how many or which states they are. It is possible these other states were “persuaded” by the Republican establishment to add the pledge this year for the very purpose of bringing Donald Trump into line in the case they screw him out of the nomination but that is just speculation on my part.
One thing is certain to me and that is that Donald Trump either needs to have better people advising him or he needs to start listening to the ones he currently has because this new development is a product of his own doing. He can be his own worst enemy at times as we saw with him taking three different positions on abortion (which were all contrary to his original position) just yesterday.

The more I watch and hear the Donald, the less credibility he has. On balance, I’d much prefer him over the thuggish felon, Hillary, or Bernie, the communist curmudgeon.
(Hell, rather than Hillary or Bernie, I’d trust my senile grandmother more.) The short of it is that Donald needs to get serious and less stuck on himself and his brilliance; he needs to become intelligently conversant on the issues. Finally, he needs to stop sounding like a 5-yr old in his interactions with fellow candidates.

I’ll take your grandmother of any of them, including Trump! As time goes on I think he is showing us he doesn’t have all the issues down pat and it should be the other way around.

I am so sick of ALL of them at the moment. Of course none of us really have a say, unless we can become Delegates and Super-delegates. All of this is just a formality. We will get in office who “they” want us to have.

Yeah, we are seeing the power both sides have over the election process. They have their preferred candidates and they will do what it takes to get them in there. This is all just a show at this point and we are just pawns in the game.

I think Trump exceeded his own expectations. It started as a lark. You can’t tell me that the man doesn’t know he is not being a serious candidate by not studying the issues. He can’t be this way in his business dealings. I tend to agree now that he is the GOP spoiler. Disgusting along with Kasich.

Trump’s problem is he is an extreme extrovert. These type of people externalize their thought process. They speak first and obtain feedback. Trump has been the only candidate to address policy issues that will affect the direction of the U.S. Get out of NATO and close our foreign military bases, scrap the F35, get out of the Middle East, trade and tariffs, healthcare. Yes he is scattered in his thinking and has said a lot of stupid things. Cruz and Kasich are neocons. They might be against abortion but they see no problem with killing thousands for Americas imperial interest.
Thanks to Chris Matthews and his need to feel a tingle up his leg a presidential election has caused this election process to become mired in the abortion issue. DA Matthews does not realize that 38 have laws that make it illegal to kill an unborn. Technically a women can be prosecuted for an illegal abortion under these laws. By the way these are women who are going to Mexico or online to buy drugs to induce an abortion.

I have been thinking along those same lines Bunkerville; it seems as if he didn’t really expect to go anywhere so he got in the race for a little attention and now that he has taken off he needs to study the issues a little more closely.

OT! I am steaming today! Oh, not from politics, but from my CABLE bill. We have the Triple play, phone, internet and cable. It was “once” reasonable, but now???? Let’s say I have cut what I could and it is up now to $171 a month…no extra movie channels OR sports channels…so I called last month before this happened as I have been doing on a monthly basis, because it just keeps going up….was supposed to be $150, oh, NO,,,,it isn’t! So, this morning, I called Verizon and am porting the home number we have had for 29 years to my cell phone, will lose my old number, but what the heck…next step is taking ALL the boxes back to them and keeping internet only, for around $83 until I can find something less. We can use the ethernet hard wired cables and use our Netflix…I am tired of all the talking heads anyway. Our taxes and fees average $20 on the bill….stupid. Rarely do we get calls on the home phone and if need be, will get a Magic Jack and install….so in the next week or so, I am cutting ties with TV, and the phone hook up…they have screwed me one too many times. Anyone else doing without TV and home phone?

One more thing: we have had an unlisted phone number since 1987. This last year, I just happened to look in the new phone book that was left out front and guess what I found? MY NUMBER AND ADDRESS! I went to the cable office and they said “their mistake” and would I like to keep paying the $3.95 a month to keep it unlisted?? I stood looking at the lady and asked her if I looked stupid??? She said, “no”, (good answer on her part), but that it is already out in the phonebook so WHY would I keep giving them more money now? I think the logic was lost on her…oh well!

Yeah Lou $200+ is the norm. That gets you On Demand but no extra crap. When we first got cable in 1984 in Jersey City, NJ it was $11.00 p/mo. Ah, the good old days.

Well, there is Comcast and AT&T that have high speed internet around here, the others are about as fast as dial up was….Verizon is supposed to be bringing in a high speed, but who knows when. It seems that the first 2 control the market, so they control the prices….Charter cable is further south, down by St. Louis, so no go on that….only thing I really care about is the internet, not the phone and not the tube! So, you have Comcast, if it is O Demand, right? Yep, the good old days, Peter!

But do you have movie channels extra or sports, etc? It just keeps going up and our income is not going up, so something has to go. I do not care about the tv and most the time our calls come in on the cell phones, so no great loss there, but I will keep the number, all the same. I am just making sure it doesn’t get to $200, not sure how you fit that into a budget….is that normal for your areas?

We have the triple play as well, and HBO for “Game of Thrones.” I also have NFL Redzone so I suppose that means I have some special package. I don’t really watch any TV other than Blacklist, Game of Thrones, and TCM and everyone we want to talk to reaches us on our cellphones so we don’t really need a landline anymore, but we have had it since we got married so we will probably keep it.
