Former Facebook employees allegedly admit to suppressing conservative news stories

May 9, 2016

FacebookMany of us have grown tired of the bias in the mainstream media and have turned to the alternative media for getting information. I personally stopped watching the news on television, including Fox News, several years ago and rely on the internet for my information. I read my news from many sites, both liberal and conservative, and then I make a decision based on what I have read.

Many people get their news nowadays from social media and while I am on Facebook and Twitter I do not rely on these sites for news because many times it seems people post articles from sites which are less than trustworthy. It takes a discerning mind to sift through what is true and what is not on Facebook and Twitter because everyone on those sites has an agenda.

If this story is true my suspicions have been confirmed because some former Facebook employees are admitting they used their positions to stifle conservative posts while promoting liberal posts. Here is more:

Facebook workers routinely suppressed news stories of interest to conservative readers from the social network’s influential “trending” news section, according to a former journalist who worked on the project. This individual says that workers prevented stories about the right-wing CPAC gathering, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and other conservative topics from appearing in the highly-influential section, even though they were organically trending among the site’s users.

Several former Facebook “news curators,” as they were known internally, also told Gizmodo that they were instructed to artificially “inject” selected stories into the trending news module, even if they weren’t popular enough to warrant inclusion—or in some cases weren’t trending at all. The former curators, all of whom worked as contractors, also said they were directed not to include news about Facebook itself in the trending module.

In other words, Facebook’s news section operates like a traditional newsroom, reflecting the biases of its workers and the institutional imperatives of the corporation. Imposing human editorial values onto the lists of topics an algorithm spits out is by no means a bad thing—but it is in stark contrast to the company’s claims that the trending module simply lists “topics that have recently become popular on Facebook.”

In keeping with the theme of this post I would caution my readers to take this information for what you think it is worth because I have no idea how reliable Gizmodo is, but I personally would not be surprised if this is true…

Come on Steve, next you’ll tell me there is no such thing as a Unicorn? Then you’ll tell me Hill-a-beans cares about the small business owner. Enough already!

Facebook is a reflection of its owner Mark Zuckerberg a liberal. Why would he want to ensure a balanced approach to the news. Also Facebook has been mired in controversy since its creation. Many people I think have a love hate relationship with it.

Some of what passes for news is some writer’s personal view on an issue. All they seem to do is to take a quote out of context and surround it with opinions. This is true of both reporting on the left and right. Most Americans have not been trained to read critically.

That is exactly what I find with the memes that are constantly going around on FB, some of them are funny but they should not be taken as news.

In this society, we’ve been taught we need a balance which means an equal amount of truth and lies … is that what we REALLY need? The conniving liars think they have a right to spread more of their material -lies- and care nothing about there being a balance. They want all the marbles, and they’ll get them by hook or crook.
When Truth is not held in high regard, as it should be, this is what results.
Just like a septic tank, this social system requires a lot of pumping out and there’s ALOT of leaches in the leach field! Lies = waste. Trusting liars to be fair and do what’s right is equivalent to waste having value and that it doesn’t stink!

Ya Zip, i did. There is a “rain rail” under the rag top that water drains into, I found the drain tube (takes tiny hands to get down into it) and they were clogged, so any water that ran off the top, overflowed into the car….sucks! I cleaned the tubes out and the pinch weld drains and it seems to have worked, will see the next big rain we get. Up front was a different issue with the air conditioner and a stopped up drain there….guess I have been fortunate, the car is 17 years old and just now had an “issue”, I will not hold that against her….I am 62 and am having “issues”, too, haha….thanks for asking.

Guess it will depend on what schools and who their parents are, as to what they will listen and believe.

Of course the goal of the schools is to get the parents out of the education process altogether.

Maybe we, back then, were just too trusting! We have evolved since then. I pretty much trust NO ONE any more that I do not know.

I told all of you that I had cut ties with the cable company and just do Netflix streaming over the internet..also turned off the house phone thru the cable company and have a Magic Jack in its’ place….do I miss tv???? Well, I think at first I did, would turn on FOX news in the morning, I think, just for the noise while I was getting breakfast going. Now? Do not miss it, like you Steve, I get my “news” and “info” from the different blogs I look at each morning. I also told you that I have the talk streaming, so will catch up with Michael Savage, Joe Walsh and Chris Plant most the time during the day…then I catch others….I have turned off the local radio programming during the mornings, they still have Glen Beck on and I refuse to listen to him. I have about $120 more in my pocket by canceling the cable and phone, but sorry to say, they raised our medical insurance $100 a month, so there goes part of it and the insurance on bringing out the van from winter storage for our day trips with the neighbors eats up the rest….guess at least I did not have to find MORE money to pay for those things. I am a thrifty person and use and repurpose alot of what I find, but at what point will we run out of money???? The government and state keep wanting more and more in taxes, so your guess is as good as mine when that point will be reached.
It is a sunny day here so far this morning and wonderful temp….might get out and do some yard work…..

Makes one wonder about the ties those involved w/ the law and the kicks backs (stock or bennies) they receive from the insurance comps. Car insurance: if you have bad credit they charge you more. They don’t bother anymore driving records – traffic warrants or tickets – because they’re charged to access them, less costly to go by credit rating instead. Charge the poor (bad credit) more. There’s another example of ‘justice’ in the mind of this world’s system!
Yep, yard work can be therapeutic, esp. pulling weeds – very symbolic of this world – which are quick growers and choke out the good plants!

Was not aware they charge based on your credit score for insurance…we have had State Farm since before we were married, but they priced us right out of staying with them….8 rentals, our home, and 4 vehicles and an umbrella policy, think they would have appreciated us….no, just kepts going up. We have a better deal now with an agent we can deal with here in town. I guess getting older has one plus, if we are good drivers, our rates are a bit lower now. There are however alot of people in town that just don’t have or cannot afford insurance, so they drive anyway. On the back of the reg. for plates in Illinois we have to put proof of insurance with expiration of policy, but apparently they do not make them prove it….we also see alot of non-english speaking individuals that are in the DMV to get a license, guess you do not have to prove citizenship or prove you can read and understand English anymore….figures.

Yard work is a necessary evil to me, my husband keeps planting more flowers and I keep telling him NOOOO, you can imagine how that works out! I want less yardwork to do, he seems to think we need more “stuff” to do….I beg to differ!
Your symbolic comment stands true, Zip.

I’m terrifically happy with USAA and enthusiastically recommend it to everyone — it’s right up there with Amica. If you didn’t serve, see if you can enroll by being related to someone who did.

It’s true about credit scores and auto insurance — a scandal of major proportions, IMHO. When the insurance company is more concerned about whether I’ll pay my premiums on time than about whether I have a propensity to wrap the Mustang around a telephone pole, something has gone terribly wrong. Insurance is supposed to be primarily about risk-sharing, not profit-making. (I’m not anti-profit, but in many service industries, profit should only be a secondary goal after competent provision of the service.)

Have a marvelous day. Here’s to a very interesting upcoming six months!

And may God bless us all!

Steve, came across this and thought it important to share – also fits with the censoring of truth and speaking of poop-propaganda. Many still believe and think that former prez Bush was for us, even though evidence proves of his knowledge and playing his part of the inside 911 towers-down, used (false flag) to justify another war. This vid shows him droning on and on in support of the false information the Gov. feeds the new media to ‘feed’ to us. I hope those who still think the Bush’s are Pro-Us will have the veil lifted or the scales dropped from their eyes! Thanks!

That is a pretty blatant admission isn’t it? He justified using propaganda! I supported Bush at the time but now I look back at it and it wasn’t what we thought it was, he did give us the PATRIOT Act…

Me too Steve, I even went to see him when he was campaigning in this area. I was totally sucked in! I believed he was PRO-America and FOR us. BUT NOW … I wonder how I didn’t see him for who he was/is, how lying he was, how void of truth, & that he’s a part of the 1% of the 1% grp. taking down this Nation (following in his dad’s footsteps: 1 World Gov.). I thought this vid showed well his stammering thru his lies and is no better or worse than Bari – they’re both the same just different bodies! I see that now. Frauds & dangerous liars!

Yep! I won’t say I pick and choose my words wisely, but sometimes I leave out some of the more damaging things I do want to say…usually I just say it like I mean it. When we get to the point of having to censor ourselves, we have a reached a point that we need to change things drastically. That include putting new people in offices across the country. The way things have been going is not what the Founding Fathers had dreamed about happening. Oh,,,,gun shot just went off outside somewhere,,,hmmmm will go and investigate that one. Not hunting anything that I know of.
