New poll shows Donald Trump in the lead in six out of seven battleground counties across the nation
Recent polls have shown tight races in several battleground states which are considered vital to winning the Presidential election. As regular readers of America’s Watchtower know, I put more stock in individual state polls than I do in national polls because we do not have a national election as of yet.
A new poll is out which goes beyond state polling, it delves into the counties in several swing states which historically have decided the elections in those state so needless to say I find this poll intriguing.
Here is more:
Six out of seven counties surveyed nationally stand within the Trump column, according to a poll released Monday by Axiom Strategies and Remington Research Group. Luzerne County, Pennsylvania (Wilkes-Barre) shows Trump’s widest lead with a 23 point advantage. The Republican’s most slim margin comes from Jefferson County, Colorado (Golden).
Of the seven counties surveyed, presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton can only claim Loudon County, Virginia, populated by Washington, D.C. bedroom communities and is the third-largest county in the Commonwealth.
The poll, now with its second survey complete, shows an improvement for Trump, having flipped Jefferson County, CO to his column since early June. July topline numbers are provided below.
Hillsborough County, FL: Clinton 40% / Trump 43% (Trump +3)
Jefferson County, CO: Clinton 39% / Trump 40% (Trump +1)
Watauga County, NC: Clinton 39% / Trump 46% (Trump +7)
Sandusky County, OH: Clinton 31% / Trump 42% (Trump +11)
Luzerne County, PA: Clinton 32% / Trump 55% (Trump +23)
Loudon County, VA: Clinton 44% / Trump 41% (Clinton +3)
Washoe County, NV: Clinton 36% / Trump 48% (Trump +12)
Axiom Strategies explained that the seven counties were selected for their history of predicting a statewide result dating back to 2000. The outfit describes itself as “the largest Republican political consulting firm in the country.”
This comes from an outfit which describes itself as a Republican political consulting firm so take it for what it is worth, this could be another example of the media using the polls to create the news rather than report it but it is interesting nonetheless.
If this poll is accurate Hillary Clinton is only leading one battleground county and it is within the margin of error, While Donald Trump leads the other six with probably two within the margin of error. If we can trust this poll Donald Trump has a fairly large lead in the counties which historically decide the elections in Pennsylvania and Ohio and if this holds true he has a legitimate shot at winning the Presidency.
What I find most interesting about this poll is that Donald Trump has a twelve point lead over Hillary Clinton in Washoe County in Nevada, Harry Reid’s home state.
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

You just have to wonder what is going on, legally I’m SOOOO SURE, behind the scenes to try and stop the T-Train? Wouldn’t you love to be a bun on THAT wall?!

It looks like the last effort failed but I am sure they are not done trying.

In the last couple of weeks, Nate Silver has Trump going from 20% probability to 37%. However he noted that it appears to be due to Hillary losing ground to Johnson and Stein rather than Trump gaining. If that is the case, I would have to say that the email scandal is taking its toll.

I think the email scandal really is hurting her right now and most people understand that the FBI did not exonerate her. In fact the FBI’s investigation probably did more to harm her even without the charges and I think many of Sanders’ supporters who already felt like they got screwed over are looking at Johnson and Stein.

I really think that was the plan that Comey had, put it out there and let the people run with it…I do think it will be hanging on her shoe like toilet paper!

I think Comey was afraid, for obvious reasons, to recommend charges against Clinton so he did the next best thing. If this does end up costing her the election he had still better be watching his back.
