Sunday, September 18th open thread: ‘Prayers for Rain’

September 18, 2016

open-threadHere is the open thread for Sunday, September 18th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week  we discussed 8 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

Most of you probably do not  know this but here in New England we are facing extreme drought conditions. Needless to say, people all over the area are having problems with their wells, so many in fact that the local high school has opened up its facilities to the public for anyone who wants to take a shower. We had our own scare last weekend but luckily for us it turned out to be a problem with the pressure switch and we got our water back after a visit by the well guy on Tuesday night. We are still holding our breath every time we run the water that our well will hold out until we get some rain. So for now we are praying for rain and putting our trust in the Living Water.

Here is The Cure performing “Prayers for Rain” live from 2008.

“Drearily and tired the hours all spent on killing time again all waiting for the rain”

haha. Well how NEAT is THAT! Thanks Swiss!
The REAL GREAT SPIRIT wills that all be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth! That’s HIS TRUTH, not the deceivers who help produce the drudges of society and keep those in the dark who are ignorant of the LORD and His Charity – Salvation by His Grace! As you know Swiss ‘believing and receiving’ God Truth is much different than the world’s! It’s LIFE, not death!

I was a boy in a foreign land. The weather was disgustingly hot and humid. Like most of us, we all wanted some relief from the miserable weather, only insects and snakes could love it. At Sunday Mass, the priest making light of the weather said we should ask the Lord for better weather, so everyone started to include a few words to the Big Guy, for some rain (and to speed up the calendar a bit so we could rotate back home). The uniform blouse stick to my skin like wallpaper. The T-shirt smelled horribly sour and like ammonia. My skin felt greasy and gritty. Red clay never came out of the knees and elbows, and the joke was that the laundry added the stains. Ran around without a shirt as much as possible, and putting on a T-shirt, it felt like a winter coat. It was January. The prayers for some rain, continued. In early April, the sky turned pewter and there was an unmistakable smell of rain in the air. After eight weeks InCountry, your nose adjusted and you could smell a human up to a quarter mile away. Vegetation aromatics became very distinct. Even earth, has an aroma. Now, we smelled rain. Then it started, in early April. Hot rain, that we joked could make soup. Then wet rain, yes, wet, that inescapable constant shower. Then it became heavy and some humidity passed, nights were wet and cold. Ninety degrees and poncho liners, quilted, were placed indie our ponchos. Okay, enough of the rain. It stopped momentarily and the temperature went to one-hundred, with oppressive humidity, then the rail started again. And it rained. And it poured. And everything was pasty thick mud. It rained until November.
Be careful what you ask the Big Guy, for in prayer, because He might just let you have it (and how!).

Yay, another good story for us, but a unpleasant experience for you! You sure know how to paint a picture to make us feel we’re right there too! hmmmm, sticky.
Sometimes in this worldly plane (the system of rule) only the snakes and spiders love it and to us it stinks and goes against what we know in our heart of hearts to be good and true. It’s ungodly and not what the Lover of our souls intended! BUT, like you coming thru that rain, we who believe the One who made heaven and earth (saved by His sacrifice- made clean by his Word) resting in His faithfulness, can be assured of a Refreshing Reign! All will be Blessed who long for the Giver of Life – to reclaim and reconcile as He promised, unto Himself. That Blessed Hope! You’ll have more to experience and stories to share 🙂 Thanks Brit!

Sometimes things, out of the blue, remind me of what took place so long ago, and out of the haze of memory, I remember. In the barroom where I go at times, all the older guys having a few beers and watching baseball. Somebody happens to say something, then three or four of us start smiling and laughing. The locals too young, think we are crazy.

Indie = tied around your waste with a piece of rope to stay warm but throw the poncho off in a firefight.

Rail = your on it and no getting off.

Two typos (sorry about that): waste = waist; Your = you’re.
Up at 03.45, brain a bit sluggish at times.

At least you have that amount to work with!! Sometimes it feels like were swimming upstream against a strong current, when trying to communicate rightly! But since we’re in the same stream our brains know the drift!

I try to be careful for other reasons. Alzheimer’s Disease runs in my mother’s side of the family, and my brain is not as sharp nor fast nor accurate, as it once was. The biggest one who talks about my mind, is my wife, and I told her to “knock it off”.

Watch out! she might just do that! I know what you mean Brit. Some is genetic, and some ’causes’ being added to our environment (food, air, water) to make us ‘forgetful’. Just as fluoride was used in prisoner camps to make them docile, so goes in a society! At least your wife keeps you ‘sharp’ and in the know!!

She used to move the furniture around and I would come in after a session at the bar, quietly walk in the house, not turning on lights to wake up the kids, then walk into everything.

I started barking, and she kept on moving furniture around. Stopped when I retired.
Now I go to the bar and am home when she gets in from work, then interrogates me about how much I drank. “Two beers” (then four shots of tequila, two more pints, another shot of tequila.)

Up until this year, she was a liberal Democrat, then smartened up. Now she’s Independent because she distrusts Hillary. I almost fell on the floor when she told me. I should have bought a lottery ticket that week.
Well, I drink 190-Proof (95% Alcohol) Everclear, which is legal moonshine. I am particularly fond of it in espresso coffee, and naturally I would like it, because I drink 16 cups of triple strength espresso every day. When riding a motorcycle or driving is required, I refuse to consume any alcohol. Same if I am at any function, as was the instance last Friday evening, where alcohol is involved, I do not drink. I will say this she’s a damned good cook. I think we had sex last time back in 1989, but I rarely miss meals unless busy with something.

Watched a B/W movie yesterday, Hired Wife, and the boss was complaining about her, how she was a liar, deceiver, on and on, BUT he loved her anyway. I think that ‘love’ pretty much rules over the obvious or logical, and that’s why we know it’s of God! Beyond our natural tendencies and desires, but fits.

Sorry to hear Steve about that. Water is such an important source for us in the physical as well as the spiritual realm! Good of Swiss to send you a rain dancer and Brit to remind you to not have him ‘over-do’ the request!

The first video pretty much sums up what is happening in the MSM today, doesn’t it? I didn’t know about the Bush family and the water, thanks for sharing it..
So far we have been lucky with the water but we need rain badly. It rained a little bit today and it is supposed to rain tomorrow so maybe things are going to start turning around.

#NYPD DEPLOYS 1,000 EXTRA TERROR POLICE FOR CHELSEA CLINTON DIAPER BOMB

HYPING people up again. And the news feeds like pharaohs in the water – fake blood ~ another PSYOP or FALSE FLAG? with real blood for the sake of the Agenda.

Gov. PSYOP political distraction, it just all sounds to timely and contrived – esp. when considering those behind the curtain and their goals.
With mainstream media being what it is there can be a video, within a video, within a video if not enacted in real time (staged event). How would we know? The closer to the fire, the hotter it gets.

This guy breaks it down a bit:
