In 2013 speech Hillary Clinton said she wanted more successful businessmen to run for office because they can’t be bought

October 15, 2016

Thanks to Wikileaks were are now beginning to learn some of what Hillary Clinton said in speeches she gave to Goldman Sachs. Of course the former Secretary of State has been reluctant to release the transcripts of those speeches and now we might have an inkling as to why that is.

Back in 2013 while answering a question at a private event Hillary Clinton had this to say about successful businessmen running for political office:

“Madame President,” a male attendee asked Clinton: “My question is, as entrepreneurs, we risk a lot. And Mike Bloomberg had 30 billion other reasons than to take office. Do we need a wholesale change in Washington that has more to do with people that don’t need the job than have the job?”

“That’s a really interesting question,” Clinton replied. “You know, I would like to see more successful business people run for office. I really would like to see that because I do think, you know, you don’t have to have $30 billion, but you have a certain level of freedom. And there’s that memorable phrase from a former member of the Senate: ‘You can be maybe rented but never bought.’ And I think it’s important to have people with those experiences.”

I thought successful businessmen were the enemy of the left. I guess they are unless you are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to speak in front of them, in that case you pander to them just like any other special interest group.

But now she is running for President against a successful businessman, isn’t this deliciously ironic?! I wonder if she is having second thoughts about that statement…

malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium

THANKFULLY this while miserable thing is almost over. Looking forward to the debate as much as I would look to watching a Christian fed to a lion. This time it is our Republic.

Sadly even after it is over it is just the beginning. It just makes me weary at times…

Bunker, I have to agree with you, I am not looking forward to watching the debate. We know that the Clintons will stop at nothing to win. Of course Trump is cut from the same cloth, so guess it will really be a battle. We know there is alot of voter fraud and who is the best at that fraud??? The left! I am hoping that Trump will be getting alot of good advice as to what to do, but is there really any right thing to do with the Clintons? We also know that the media will cover whatever they have to cover. I do not trust Chris Wallace any more than the other moderators….guess my question is why Trump is not requesting some like Varney or Cavuto to moderate? The deck is stacked and as usual they are allowed to do this….fair is not a word I would associate with the debates.
I was at my brothers yesterday as I am every Saturday, he had MSNBC on and it was ALL negative on Trump, so if that is what people are watching, you know what they “think”…it made me sick and I wanted to say something to my brother, but in the physical and mental state he is in, it would be a moot point….I believe there is no swaying a Democrat if they are not willing to listen. I cannot say that Trump will be “all that”, but at least he might give us 4 more years of NOT being put in a Socialist State….

I have asked casually some people I run into, just in everyday conversation what they think of wiki leaks? Nada. Either never heard of it, or just more nonsense.

If the main stream media doesn’t report on it, it didn’t happen to most of the lofo voters. Makes you wonder why they vote when they really know nothing about what is going on, other than what they are told.

Well Lou, I have to be honest, I am not going to watch the debate. I cannot bring myself to do it.

That’s sad Bunkerville and it shows us the way the MSM is able to shape the news. I believe fewer and fewer people are watching TV for their news but most of the older people probably are. The younger people probably get their news from the internet and from social media but that still is a problem because many of them probably don’t realize much of what they are reading there is opinion and not news.

Lou, I think they vote only because they feel they are supposed to and they think they are informed because of the indoctrination they are receiving.

Bunker, they are keeping Wikileaks off the main news as much as possible. Then you have Chris Cuomo??? telling people it is illegal for them to go on the Wikileaks website and read for themselves…that THEY will tell them everything that they need to know….hmmmm!
Steve, we have the neighbors in back that we take on the days trips, have told you about them before…he said he just cannot vote for Trump, will not vote for Clinton either…he has trouble understanding how Trump could say what he did, but just doesn’t bring up Clinton much. I have told him that Trump is pro-life, as is this man, but still he cannot vote for him. He wonders what will become of his grandkids and great-grandkids, but still he cannot get past Trump and what he said….not thinking it was a private conversation, illegally recorded. I am not thrilled with it, but reality tells us that we have NO chance if Clinton gets in.
If we could only get the media to change their ways and actually start reporting on what the TRUTH is, Clinton would never have made it this far. If I remember, the last 2 elections, the Republicans were screaming at the Candidate to stand up and fight, not to roll over….now that we have someone fighting back, they have changed their minds? You cannot have it both ways…I think that Trump will do the 4 years and turn the next election over to Pense, he has bigger and better things to move on to, but maybe he can make some headway towards putting things back on the right track, since Obama and his pack have been in office.
I am hoping that some of the FBI agents will hold their ground and fight,,,as I hope that Wikileaks and Drudge put out the info…I am not holding my breath that anything will change the fact that Clinton is going to do whatever it takes to get into the White House.
We are going to the Republican Committee headquarters tomorrow night to watch the debate AND have pizza,,,it will remain to be seen what happens…we can hope that Trump hits hard, very hard!

Lou, I have to admit that I have not been able to come to terms with voting for Trump either but it has nothing to do with what he said. I have never liked the guy and I don’t trust him because he has only recently come around to the positions he now holds.
If the media was fair much more attention would be paid to Wikileaks than what Trump said, it is a much bigger story but of course they are suppressing it. When I hear Trump talk now it sounds to me like he has already determined he is going to lose. It saddens me that this is what it has come down to.
