Newt Gingrich is worried the Trump regime will ‘lose their nerve’

January 1, 2017

Newt Gingrich appeared on This Week earlier today and he stated he was worried the Trump regime would “lose their nerve” once they get to Washington and realize how bad the problem really is. Here is more:

When asked what he fears the most during the Trump presidency Gingrich said,”That they will lose their nerve. I mean, look, they’re going to arrive in Washington and for them to be successful, they have to stake out positions that Donna will not like and the left will hate. My deepest concern is that they’re going to arrive, you’re going to have the greens going crazy over at EPA and Interior. You’re going to have the government employees going crazy about civil service reform. You’re going to have the teachers union going crazy over school choice. And these are pretty nonnegotiable. I mean, if you’re serious about school choice, there is no agreement with the teachers union.”

He added, “I’m worried when they realize how big the problem is that they decide that they’re just going to do the best they can and give in.”

I think Newt Gingrich is justified in being concerned about how much of his agenda Donald Trump will be able to accomplish; after all the President-elect made many campaign promises and no President actually accomplishes everything they set out to do. However the former Speaker of the House seems to be raising questions about how hard Donald Trump will actually fight to achieve his agenda and that is troubling.

I too have serious questions about how much Donald Trump will be able to accomplish, especially with John McCain and Mitch McConnell already positioning themselves as opponents to the soon to be President, and I also wonder how hard he will fight but for a different reason than Newt Gingrich–I still am not sure how wedded Donald Trump is to conservatism because, after all, he is a recent convert.

I am going to give him a chance but I hope he does not let me down.

Newt would do well to acentuate the positive for now rather than feed into the left’s destroy Trump agenda. Of course he has always believed he is smarter than the rest of us so it’s duty to point out the obvious. What’s his next stop the View, where he can oogle Whoopi’s disgustingly ugly shoes?

And he always thinks that what he says is somehow profound. Perhaps he thinks he is helping Trump by giving him unofficial advice but if Trump had wanted it he would have been in the cabinet.

It doesn’t seem that Trump wants to waste time ‘humming and hawing’ over about “what to do.” The ship’s already leaving harbor! But, we’ll see.
