CNN claims to have confirmed some of the fake news Russian dossier

February 10, 2017

We all remember the fake news story Buzzfeed and CNN ran a short time ago about a Russian dossier–which Buzzfeed admitted when released it was not confirmed–which supposedly contained very damaging information about Donald Trump, including what he allegedly paid a Russian prostitute to do on a bed he believed Barack Obama once slept in.

Well CNN is back at it again in an article entitled US  investigators corroborate some aspects of the Russian dossier. Here is more:

For the first time, US investigators say they have corroborated some of the communications detailed in a 35-page dossier compiled by a former British intelligence agent, multiple current and former US law enforcement and intelligence officials tell CNN.

Between the title of the article and the first paragraph of the story it would like like on the surface as if this was going to be very damaging for Donald Trump but then the story continues thusly:

None of the newly learned information relates to the salacious allegations in the dossier. Rather it relates to conversations between foreign nationals. The dossier details about a dozen conversations between senior Russian officials and other Russian individuals. Sources would not confirm which specific conversations were intercepted or the content of those discussions due to the classified nature of US intelligence collection programs.
But the intercepts do confirm that some of the conversations described in the dossier took place between the same individuals on the same days and from the same locations as detailed in the dossier, according to the officials. CNN has not confirmed whether any content relates to then-candidate Trump.
None of the corroborated information is related to Donald Trump but rather to conversations held between foreign officials but that is not what one is led to believe by this obvious attempt at click-bait by CNN.
The so-called and self-named “most trusted name in news” organization was obviously trying to  make it appear to the casual glance as if Donald Trump had been implicated with this new information when clearly he was not in an attempt to bring the story back to life.
