House Republicans release Obamacare replacement plan

March 6, 2017

The House Republicans have released their Obamacare replacement plan. Some of the features include doing away with the individual mandate, “strengthening” Medicare, keeping the child under 26 provision, and not allowing insurance companies to deny coverage for pre-existing conditions. It also includes cutting  taxes, establishing a  Patient and State Stability Fund of $100 billion, and expanding Health Savings Accounts. (Not sure where that $100 billion big government program is going to get its money…)

It will be interesting to see how this goes. Rand Paul, for one, is opposed to the plan. He called it Obamacare-lite. I like some of what I am reading but I do not like other parts of what I see here. This is probably a jumping off point but I believe the two most popular aspects of Obamacare–the under 26 provision and the pre-existing conditions provisions–are going to survive the final cut.

I have been saying for quite awhile now that Obamacare will never be fully repealed because it is too entrenched in the system already and the establishment Republicans do not have the will to repeal it and they never did, they just talk a good game during election cycles. This could be the best we can hope for but the jury is still out…

Yeah, I haven’t heard anything about whether or not those are still in there. I have not looked at the whole thing yet but I glanced at it.

I don’t know how they expect it to work with the no denial of preexisting conditions without the individual mandate. The insurance companies insisted on those two aspects go together.

I’m not sure why the mandate would have to stay, but maybe it is to offset the costs of insuring pre-existing conditions by forcing others who would not buy health insurance to do so?

You many not want to repeal the ACA because of the unknown attachments and consequences of a repeal. Removal of laws and administrative rules in medical and health insurance industry is far more important. the cost of a health insurance plan. We keep wanting the Government to fix things when we know they will only make it worse.

Here are some ideas from a paper written by the Association of American Physicans and Surgeons

“A vibrant competitive market could develop rapidly if permitted. Some of the needed conditions are listed below. Some would require federal or state legislation, but many could be achieved or facilitated through executive action at the regulatory level:

    * Honest pricing. All facilities should be encouraged to post their prices—it should be clear that there are NO antitrust constraints for doing this…
    * Honesty in reimbursement. Patients should demand access to information…
    * Tax fairness. Individually owned policies should receive the same tax treatment as employer-owned policies …
    * Removal of barriers to competition. This includes certificate-of-need laws[hospitals], attempts to regulate direct primary care practices or health sharing organizations …
    * Group plans available through associations, not just employers.
    * Repeal of insurance mandates that require all to pay for costly coverage they do not need or want.
    * Repeal of antitrust exemptions for the “business of insurance” (McCarran-Ferguson).
    * Enforcement of antitrust law against hospital systems …
    * Repeal of all laws and regulations such as the HMO Act that protect or favor managed-care …
    * Fair trade and nondiscrimination. Insurance collusion with physicians…
    * Streamlining regulatory procedures …
    * Streamlining licensure of physicians …
    * Removal of barriers to self-funded plans. Their..”

From my experience children normally don’t raise the cost of an insurance plan. Most young people only need a catastrophic (high deductible) health insurance and a medical savings account. I suspect preexisting conditions is due to your doctor reporting your conditions to the insurance company. Parents need to be aware of what their docs are doing.

There are some good things there, thanks for sharing. It always makes me nervous when the government tries to fix something, that is how we got Obamacare in the first place…

Appreciate your clear thinking sanity CJ (they’ve not ‘churned your mind’ w/ their brainwashing chemicals yet!) and shared ‘constructive’ info!

That is why everyone is dragging their feet on this “repeal”. The House and Senate do not care because we keep reelecting them. The 2018 election needs to turn into a total blood bath for all incumbents if ACA is not amended and major reforms are undertaken

I agree 100%! They really don’t care about repeal, they just talked a good game during the election cycles but now that they have the chance to actually repeal it we are finding out the truth about them. They are all still misreading the last election, they do not learn.

Revealed: The Man Who Wrote Obamacare ~ Robert Creamer, a federal felon
‘He counseled Democrats that to win complete control of America, they must “not just generate understanding, but emotion—fear, revulsion, anger, disgust.”
    She’s reading from: http://www.westernjournalism.com/revealed-man-wrote-obamacare/

Brings to mind: Clinton health care plan of 1993 ~ “Clinton health plan required each US citizen and permanent resident alien to become enrolled in a qualified health plan on his or her own or through programs mandated to be offered by businesses with more than 5,000 full-time employees.”
The Global rulers had this ‘mandatory single pay’ in mind for some time [it’s all about the $$$$$$] trail thinking. They benefit for the insurance and big Pharm not doubt.
Since the ‘search engines’ have been ‘taken over’ it’s more difficult to fine info that shows the ‘progression of their depraved and orchestrated planning’ – restrict and control the information and communication and you have the masses confined and bundled together like a tightly tied shoe.

I know he went to prison, and I think it was for fraud, and while in jail it appears as if he wrote the ultimate fraud!

They could at least scrub the fake name ‘Obama’ off of it = “The Enemy UnHealth Care ACT”. It is quite the ‘act’, being conned by the sinister using a ‘arrogant dummy’!

OT but in the same vein of thinking. Follow the donkey trail:
