Sunday, March 12th open thread: ‘Shine’

March 12, 2017

open-thread  Here is the open thread for Sunday, March 12th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week  we discussed 6 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not”

Here is Mondo Cozmo performing “Shine” from December of last year, I love this song:

Stick with me Jesus through the comin’ storm
I’ve come to you in search of something I have lost
Shine down a light on me and show a path
I promise you I will return if you take me back

My friends are so alone and it breaks my heart
My friends don’t understand we all are lost
Shine down a light on them and show a path
I promise you they will return if you take ’em back

Come with me Mary through these modern lines
Stick with me Jesus til’ the end of time
Shine down a light on me and let me know
And take me in your arms and never let me go

There’s a stanza in this song that, “But other’s have known few battles are won alone.”
I like the open of the scene filmed around Ridgeway, CO w/ the mts in the background and the ranch.
“Ouray & Ridgway Colorado were home to the first “True Grit”

    (Some beautiful country to visit!)
There are spiritual battles that are manifested as earthly ones. Having others to help and us help them in these battle is fitting, but like the song you like Steve, there’s ONE who’s Greater that helps us in both! And He states: “…whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 So, there you go, Pilgrim!

Was it wrong for me to laugh when John Wayne smacked that guy with his gun? That last quote by John Wayne in the last video was awesome, you have to choose between right and wrong and then face the consequences but we are not alone, we just have to trust in God and do what is right even if it is unpopular.

haha. If you ever watched that movie, you’d see him justified in what he did and actually showing great restraint!
Jesus did right in the eyes of God, and he was misunderstood by most mankind. “And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” John 1:5. How sweet to know and experience God’s Blessing, especially in our times of need!

I” have to check it out sometime. I used the same John verse in my post because that is what the song I used reminded me of.
