Sunday, May 14th open thread: ‘There’s a Mother Always Waiting at Home’

May 14, 2017

open-threadHere is the open thread for Sunday, May 14th. Please feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever issues arise during the course of the day. Nothing is off-topic here.

Last week  we discussed 9 stories, did you miss any of them? If so there is an easy way to make sure it does not happen again. I understand that all of you are busy and cannot always find the time to check the blog for updates so why not subscribe to America’s Watchtower and receive email updates whenever I write a new post? That is the easiest way to follow the blog to ensure you never miss another post.

In addition to subscribing you can also follow America’s Watchtower on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the links on the right. But you will get more than that for I often post links to articles I probably will not be writing about so it is a great way to keep up with what is happening.

The Twitter widget in the sidebar is fully interactive. This widget updates my tweets in real time and allows you to respond to or retweet my tweets right from the blog. It also allows you to tweet me right from America’s Watchtower. How cool is that! If you do not have a Twitter account what better reason do you need to sign up for one!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers out there who read America’s Watchtower, here is Johnny Cash performing “There’s a Mother Always Waiting at home.”

Nice song Steve, a bit saddening since my mom has exited this plane of existence. But, I’m thankful for her and to God for giving her to be my mother! She was glad to have me as a daughter (most of the time 😌😉) – although I wish I’d been better at that. May we remember the better times though, for us who’s mother’s have passed on. May the Lord give them a hug of love for us, and for you whose mom’s are still alive, give those hugs in person if able, or at least with your words of love.
How fast the times go (albeit slow sometimes in the ‘now’), to share together things of quality and worth with those God has placed in our lives. The world portrays “life” and “living” as something more material, in a way that it profits the few (money-mongers) in charge, who run the “Game of Life”. No care or thought for the ‘Bigger picture’ Who really runs the breath and heartbeat of inhabitants. The love we share and give to our mother’s proves the importance of Love. A substance that can be felt and experience, inside and out. A gift from our Creator, a quality of Himself given to us to express and live. For God is Love. 1 John 4:16 Without God sharing that part of Himself, love wouldn’t exist in us to share. (How unPC is that!) 😊 Happy is the Mother whose GOD is the LORD of Glory!

Very well said Zip! So sorry your mom is not here any more but I know you are comforted in the fact that one day you will be together again.
Life is so much more than material things, it is too bad that so many people are obsessed with acquiring things that they miss out on the things that make life special. They are looking to fill a void in their lives and if only they would realize that void can be filled with God.

Thanks Steve. Yes, God made Mother’s special for sure and Dad’s. Love covers all, which is also comforting!
The physical things are nice at the time of receiving or giving. But, like fresh flowers – many will purchase to send to their Mother’s – will fade and be thrown away. Even ‘live’ plants don’t last forever. But God is forever and Love everlasting! So, best to go with Him, like you stated!
