Charles Grassley to open Judiciary Committee investigation into James Comey’s firing
It is pretty clear that the Democrats’ plan to halt Donald Trump’s agenda through endless investigations is working fairly well. Even if nothing comes from the investigation the Democrats have already achieved a victory by basically neutering the President–the Congress is doing nothing of note and that is what the Democrats have hoped for. Sure they want to take down the President but if all they accomplish is halting his agenda I think they will be happy–other than the violent alt-left which seems to believe Republicans must die.
But the Democrats are not alone in this plan, they have allies in the Republican establishment who would like to see Donald Trump go down–John McCain comes to mind for one but there are others.
Can we add Charles Grassley to the mix? I am not sure, maybe he just succumbed to Democratic pressure, but today he announced the Senate Judiciary Committee would launch an investigation into James Comey’s firing. Here is more:
Republicans are wary of Sen. Chuck Grassley‘s (R-Iowa) decision to launch a Senate Judiciary Committee investigation into the firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
Grassley, the panel’s chairman, took the step this week partly at the urging of Democrats, but said that it’s his committee’s job to make sure there’s a firewall protecting the FBI from political influence.
“There should be no improper interference with FBI investigations to favor any elected official or candidate of either party,” Grassley wrote in a Wednesday letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee.
I agree there should be no “improper influence” with an FBI investigation by an elected official however James Comey already testified under oath that Donald Trump did not obstruct justice and the day before the former FBI director testified two or three others also testified they did not feel as if Donald Trump was trying to influence the investigation.
And as Orrin Hatch pointed out now that there is a special prosecutor investigating the Russia collusion scandal which is reportedly also looking into obstruction charges as well as whether or not Donald Trump tried to influence the investigation this Senate Committee investigation is not needed.
“I’m sure it’s being pushed rather hard by Democrats because I don’t know one Republican pushing that,” Hatch said of an investigation into Comey’s firing. “It’s not that they don’t want to have an investigation, they don’t see a need for it.”
They do not see the need for this investigation because it is already being investigated, as an anonymous Republican pointed out:
“We already have a special counsel. I don’t think we should have any more investigations. I don’t see how that doesn’t fall within his purview. That should all be left to the special counsel,”
Democrats may claim that Republicans are being hypocritical on this issue after they spent years investigating Barack Obama on a number of issues but I would remind them that a special prosecutor was never named so this is different.
Now that a special prosecutor has been named it is time for the Republicans in the Congress to let him do his job and it is time for them to start doing their job. But because they are not it leads one to wonder what goal they really are trying to accomplish…

I don’t recall any investigations into Obama and just nothing ones on Benghazi. So why doesn’t Grassley et al, start in on Hillary and her henchmen? Meanwhile Trump’s approval rating just hit 50…. that must really burn them.

There was Fast and Furious with Eric Holder which I think was closing in on Obama, I probably worded that wrong but yeah it was just a show investigation. I think most people other than the far left don’t care about this and are getting tired of it

If Grassley weren’t inline w/ the ‘traitorist media’ they would be investigating and reporting on him toot-sweet! (notice how that fits w/ the grass part 🙂). Maybe some of the ‘sane reporters’ could look into his connection (how much $$$ is he receiving on his food plate).

I honestly think McCain, Pelosi, and Waters are showing signs of their ages, not that they aren’t working for the globalists as well. There is no doubt the people behind the veil have their hands deep into our government and they are doing everything they can to take Trump down.
