Obamacare repeal-only bill fails in the Senate

July 26, 2017

Yesterday, by a razor-thin margin with Mike Pence breaking the stalemate, the Senate voted to advance Obamacare repeal and replace legislation. This opened up the bill for debate and amendments. The first amendment brought to the table was to repeal Obamacare over a two year period without replacement legislation in place. In theory this would give Washington time to introduce a replacement but we all know how Washington works…

    Repeal without replacement failed today.

Personally, and I am by no means an expert on this subject, I think that if Obamacare is going to be repealed there must be a replacement bill in place that can be debated and as I understand it that is what is now going to take place. I believe that without a replacement bill in place it would lead to market uncertainty.

Having said that I must call out the hypocrisy of some of the Republican members of the Senate who in 2015 voted and approved a repeal only bill with the same exact wording and sent it to Barack Obama’s desk.

Susan Collins is an exception, she voted against the amendment today and she voted against the bill in 2015, at least she is being consistent. The others, with the exception of a couple of Republican Senators who were not there in 2015, not so much…

It is obvious now that back in 2015 these Republicans voted for repeal because they knew Barack Obama would veto it. It was good politics for them at that time and they took advantage of it, promising to repeal Obamacare while running for reelection. But when push came to shove and they actually had the chance to make good on something they have been promising for SEVEN YEARS they wavered because they actually had no intention of repealing the bill in the first place, they were simply playing a political game known as the Hegelian Dialectic.

What a band of frauds, liars, and hypocrites!

The perfect plan or nearly perfect plan would be for the healthcare business being returned to the private sector and allow the free market to do what it does best: a competitive product at a competitive price for the market and a fair return for the providers. We full we’ll know we are on our way to single payer with the blessings of both parties. The former Soviet Union, today’s UK and other examples of the failed socialist healthcare model is causing hardly a ripple here amongst those who stand to lose the most. And our feckless politicians are more than happy to take us down the road to perdition.

https://polldaddy.com/js/rating/rating.jsA free market solution won’t work because there are too many laws and rules at the state and federal level that interfere with the operation of a free market.

In another Mises’ article “Here’s an Easy Way to Add Some Market Competition Back into Healthcare” they suggest the following
It could be as simple as providing a waiver for people who wished to operate in a parallel healthcare system. This would involve the following:
Unlimited tax credits for catastrophic health insurance.
Unlimited tax deductions for prepaid health savings accounts and out-of-pocket medical expenditures.
Leave everything else the same (except the added waiver from the ACA).

Yep…. thats the way but clearly the GOP wants single payer. The dirty little secret is that the Insurance companies have been subsidizing Medicaid and Medicare by receiving higher reimbursements for exactly the same services. Thus we as buyers of Healthcare insurance have been carrying the load. It all worked (at least for the time being it was) until Obama upset the apple cart.

Single payer is the end game and it always has been. The little secret is that the establishment Republicans are on board with it as well.

How is this going to cost less than what people are paying in health insurance now? So instead of paying an insurance company $5,000 a year you get to pay the government $10,000 in taxes for third world care if that. There are not enough working Americans to pay for the FSA. Defined benefit plans are based on a large healthy work force to a small number of ill beneficiaries. All you have to do is look at SS, Medicare and Medicaid to see failing systems.

They all seem to be a bunch of thieves! Terrible. Need to remove those who “don’t represent the People” and get in individuals who will!

It won’t cost the people less, they just won’t see the costs as healthcare costs because they will be in the form of taxes.

I agree Zip, they do not represent us. They represent their own interests as well as special interest groups. They all must go!

Also, the name should be changed to Unaffordable Care and get Bari’s name out of it period. He didn’t write, think of it or ‘build it’ he just happen to be the ‘hand puppet’ to sign “the con” into being. Plus Obama Sr. (who isn’t his dad) stands for the 3rd world ‘image’ (Kenya) the ‘evil and insane powers’ that be want to make of this Nation ~ enslaving or killing the people (which ever is necessary to achieve their World Tower of Power Utopia). I’d like to see Pres.Trump have the funds the Insurance Comps have stolen from the people “returned” and penalize them for their thievery – which none in the Senate or Congress want to happen (probably have stock dividends and interest in them).
