Donald Trump issues an Executive Order to help lower Obamacare premiums

October 12, 2017

Earlier today Donald Trump signed an Executive Order which he claims will help to lower premiums and make more options available in counties where the options have been dwindling. Here is more:

President Donald Trump took his first steps Thursday toward fulfilling his vow to dismantle Obamacare, signing an executive order that he says will bring affordable health insurance to millions more people.

The order broadly tasks the administration with developing policies to increase health care competition and choice in order to improve the quality of health care and lower prices.

The order, Trump said from the Roosevelt Room of the White House, would give “millions of Americans with Obamacare relief.” It would “cost the United States government virtually nothing and people will have great great health care. And when I say people, I mean by the millions and millions.”

Specifically, the President is directing the Labor Department to study how to make it easier for small businesses, and possibly individuals, to join together and buy health insurance through nationwide association health plans. The department could give employers in the same industries more flexibility to offer group coverage across state lines, providing them with a broader range of policies at lower rates.

First of all, I disagree with CNN’s claim this is the beginning of his plan to “dismantle” Obamacare. It looks more like he is trying to improve it and haven’t the Democrats been saying they want to work with the President to improve Obamacare’s flaws? But let that go…

I love the idea of letting small businesses, and possibly individuals, pool together to get lower rate which are more comparable to what is offered to larger companies. Honestly, I am not sure why this was not part of Obamacare in the first place.

At first glance this appears to be a big step in the right direction, and although I would rather see this done through the legislative process, Rand Paul is on board with this so I have to believe Donald Trump has not overstepped his bounds with this Executive Order. Now if only the Republicans could get their act together…

First of all the GOPers have had eight years to do the right thing but lobbiest payola and bending over for fear of democrat reprisals has resulted in their betraying their constituents in matters of healthcare. It’s anybodies gu s as to Trump has pissed ft more, the RINO’s or the democrats. We can only hope this is the first step in the right direction rather than another false start.

I believe he is probably more upset with the RINOs because he knew what he was getting with the Democrats. Now I am reading he is getting rid of the subsidies so it looks like we are starting to move in the right direction on Obamacare.

It wasn’t done years ago because up until the Obama fiasco things were going not badly…Obamacare screwed the healthcare system up and of course it was designed to fail so single payer would come into being. Just one person’s opinion.

By allowing smaller group plans to exist the issue of pre existing conditions may be reduced. Large group plans currently allow open enrollment and thus avoid the pre existing barrier.

That is interesting, thanks for that info. This is where the Democrats will probably attack this move.

If ‘the god of $$$$’ wasn’t such a big deal in this worldly realm this won’t be an issue. BUT reality, there are many “gods” that dictate legislation and none of them for our good! That’s why the God of the BIBLE isn’t invited to the discussion table … “Love one another” doesn’t fill their greed account.
