Jeff Sessions agrees to brief House Intelligence Committee on withheld Russian investigation documents

May 9, 2018

The House Intelligence Committee has been seeking some documents from the Justice Department related to the Russian investigation but to date Jeff Sessions has been unwilling to turn them over, siting national security.

Over the weekend Devin Nunes threatened to hold the Attorney General in Contempt of Congress if he does not comply and now it looks as if that threat might have worked. Today we learned that Jeff Sessions has agreed to brief the House Intelligence Committee on the documents, here is more:

The Justice Department has invited House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., and House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., to a classified briefing Thursday, a source familiar with the situation told the Washington Examiner.

The invitation comes after Nunes threatened to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt of Congress over the agency’s resistance related to the chairman’s efforts to obtain documents related to the Russia investigation.

It is being reported here that this deal might have been brokered by Donald Trump:

The White House and Justice Department leaders are racing to defuse an ugly confrontation with House Republicans over access to sensitive documents connected to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, according to four sources with knowledge of the discussions.

In a late Tuesday phone call with top GOP lawmakers, White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to meet with key House members at the Justice Department on Thursday to discuss the issue. But they stopped short of promising full access to the material they’re requesting, the sources said.

If that it true it shoots a hole in my theory that Devin Nunes was going to try to hold Jeff Sessions in contempt to give Donald Trump an excuse to fire the Attorney General.

If, as Jeff Session has stated, national security and the lives of some people would be in danger if these documents were released this would seem like a suitable compromise. However a briefing is not the same as viewing the documents. With the meeting being held in private with people who are authorized to view classified information why not let them see the documents at the meeting rather than tell them what is in them? This leaves open the possibility that something important could still be hidden from the House Intelligence Committee.

The news article cites Kelly and Rosenstein are to meet with House members. No where does it say AG. I still consider this stonewalling. Sessions needs to be removed if he feels the House Committee and its chairman are beneath his pay grade.

This secret classified information is over the top. So far none of the redacted information has needed to been redacted. How come every time I deal with the government I told they can real ease my email address, telephone number and so on.

Yeah, I king of screwed that up. Sessions is recused from the investigation, I should have written Department of Justice instead.

That is an interesting point – being recused of the “Russian” investigation. Does that absolve him of being the AG and as such being responsible for all of the Department’s documents? This is like your right hand not knowing what your left is doing.

He is not being asked to investigate or pass judgement on the document. He keeps using the DAG as an excuse.

I don’t know if it absolves him as being AG but it certainly does make him pretty useless to the President.

I still think they are stonewalling as well. They will give them some information hoping it will satisfy them and if it doesn’t they have bought more time.

I caught the video about Sessions refusing earlier to cough it up. I had seen the interview in real time and he looked like a total loser… I had wanted the video to post; At Gateway Pundit’

This is what you’d call “reading the tea leaves”.

Even the best of our politicians will never be completely truthful with us, so we have to take bits and pieces of the solid information we can get and figure out what the real picture is.

What missing pieces of information would reasonably fit with what we know to be true?

You have that right, even the most honest politician isn’t being fully honest. I guess honesty is relative nowadays.

“Honesty” is a quality that doesn’t come naturally to human nature. Its a godly quality, requiring a conscience and spirit to do ‘what’s right’.
Example: Food can lining. I picked up some canned beets and read this on the back of the can label (was all in caps): “Can lining produced without the intentional addition of BPA.” The word “intentional” caught my eye.
Even France has banned BPA: ‘prohibits the use of BPA in all packaging, containers and utensils intended to come into direct contact with food.’
Man-made industrial chemical BPA is nefarious, it alters brain and body cells development resulting in behavioral defects; bad for internal use period -causing numerous health problems [baby bottles made with it]. “May Cause Infertility in Men and Women”. Which brings us to the DePop Agenda and the deep state project which we’re ‘contending with’ in this posting.
What is the ‘intent’ behind this Russian investigation? and is it legitimate?
Just like physical contaminants [harmful and contrived chemicals], we have mental ones as well, that are deadly.
The very groups wasting time/energy in red herring investigations is like adding BPA to populous ‘thinking’ and ‘perspective’. Its defected & altering people’s “sense” of reality of what’s true and what isn’t (lies & fabrications ruling, twisted & distorting).
‘Acting prez Hussein’ was the one who put sanctions on Russia to ‘punish’ them for not complying/adhering to the NWO. Were these sections justified to begin with? Adding the spoof of the ‘BPA lining’ of the dem’s ‘Russian’s collaboration’ [factually proven to be a lie], designed to rid Trump, who doesn’t go with their NWO agenda.
Buzz words today we see everywhere: “Comply” “Submit” … or else ~

When I was reading what you wrote the word “intentionally” caught my eye also! It is their way of couching what they are saying and we see examples of this all the time.
I never thought of honesty not being a natural human attribute but with all the dishonesty in the world I have to think you are right. In ancient Greece Diogenes supposedly stated he was looking for an honest man and I don’t think he found one, I guess there is nothing new under the sun. (I am sure you caught the Ecclesiastes reference there. 🙂 )
