Are Democrats overplaying their hand with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
Ever since the stunning primary victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York we have seen members of the Democratic party trying to ride her alt-left coattails. I am of the belief that the Democrats are misreading the results of a local election with small voter turnout in a liberal state by taking it as a sign that the nation as a whole is ready to embrace democratic-socialism. I call this the “Cortez-Effect” and I think it is going to backfire.
While many of the Democratic leaders are all in on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez so far it has not played out with the voters the way the leaders had hoped it would. Since her victory Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been running around the country endorsing candidates and last week four of those candidates lost in grand style. Here is more:
… Ing, who bills himself as a democratic socialist, has seemingly found little traction among local voters in the race to fill the open seat for Hawaii’s 1st Congressional District.
Ing lagged far behind the leaders among likely Democratic voters in the poll.
Another publication indicated Ing came in fourth in a recent poll.
It turns out Cortez’s support did nothing for his chances, and in fact, it may have hurt them.
Returns published by the New York Times show Cortez’s preferred candidate, Kaniela Ing, came in a distant FIFTH in a field of seven candidates.
Ing captured a measly 6.1 percent of the vote, compared to the winner, Ed Case, who won 40.4 percent.
And here are two more:
Cortez held a whirl-wind tour of the U.S., stumping for Abdul El-Sayed for governor of Michigan, Fayrouz Saad in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st District, and was backing Congressional candidate Kaniela Ing in Hawaii.
El-Sayed lost his bid for the Democrat nomination for governor to 51.8 percent to 30.5 percent, according to numbers published by the New York Times.
Saad came in fourth in the five-way race, capturing only 18 percent of the vote.
Cori Bush lost her primary to William Lacy Clay, 56.7 percent to 36.9 percent, the Times results show.
I believe the Democrats are overplaying their hand based on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s victory, and if her brand of democratic-socialism is not playing well with the Democratic voters in places other than New York how is the fact that the leaders of the party are now fully behind democratic-socialism going to play in a general election?
malo periculosam libertatem quam quietum servitium
Alex from the Bronx is the face of the Bernie Sanders / George Soros wing of the Democratic Party. They call themselves Progressives, but they are really Communist. They want to take over the Democratic Party because the Old Guard Democrats are too white and do not have any ideas. Demographically she is the future prototypical candidate for any of the “blue islands” on the national election map. She is doing the job of keeping the Communist vision for America alive.

It used to be that the Democrats didn’t come right out and call themselves socialists but now they are no longer afraid of the term and use it boldly. They are no longer afraid to call themselves socialists which means they are really communists in disguise and I hope that people see how far left they are moving and reject them.

Playing w/ ‘fake marked cards’ and ‘fake hand.’ All illusionist.
They figured they’ve indoctrinated and “re-educated” [dumbed-down] enough of the masses to be ‘safe from harm’. Keeping the masses encapsulated in their web of deception: everyone asleep in the Lie Matrix.
Did you know in the Bible Matrix is another word for Womb? I thought that interesting.

You are right, they do feel as if the indoctrination has reached the point where they can come right out and say what they have been keeping hidden. Interesting about matrix, the lie being birthed from the left. I just happen to have a copy of an 1828 Webster’s dictionary (the one used in the definition in the link) that I use sometimes when reading history to see how words have changed.

Just like the Democrats the Republicans don’t have a response to Alex’s rhetoric. Too much of what I read on conservative blogs focuses on her appearance. They are attacking the person not the idea. This is similar to the Lefts attack on Palin.
The NY 14 District race should be used as a laboratory to find out how Republicans could win in an urban district. What message are the voters wanting to hear? Unfortunately the NY Rep party is controlled by Ed Cox, so I don’t think there is any innovation coming from him.

I agree, there is no need to attack her appearance and the focus should be on her politics. She has dangerous ideas and the Republicans need to come up with a candidate and a plan to defeat her but so far I think you are right in that they have nothing.

Ponder this: How long before the media explains her ineffective campaigning on misogyny and racism? Surely that should be enough for the media to get voters in line and voting for those whose goal it is to take away through the electorial process their rights as American citizens. I for one never underestimate the ignorant, stupid, lazy, apathetic and uneducated hoards in the cities who will run to pull the lever for the left come November. And then on the other hand one need only look at Bergen County, NJ, one of the richest in NJ, if not the country, where the rich and educated, election after election vote the blue line, an area which was solidly republican into the early 80’s. The democrats and the entire left are masters of incrementalism while the republicans, fighting a defensive battle rather than going on the offensive, are still unable to analyze and fight back against them. We can be pretty sure its not government entitlements driving the vote here in Bergen County. Once again quoting Pogo, We have met the enemy and they are us.

I seriously doubt the republicans have either the brains or the balls to run this in their election ads.

I would love to see this as an ad but I am with you on this, they do not have the guts to run something like this.

I am sure that is what the playbook will be!
