Republicans delay Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation vote to allow the FBI to investigate

September 28, 2018

Earlier today the Judiciary Committee voted to send Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the full Senate for a test vote on Saturday with the intention that the official vote would take place on Tuesday. However while voting in favor of sending the nomination to the Senate Jeff Flake demanded an FBI investigation into the sexual misconduct charges which have been levied against the nominee.

Shortly thereafter the Republicans agreed to a one week delay to allow the FBI to investigate and the President has issued the order, although it appears as if the procedural vote will still happen on Saturday. Here is more:

Senate Republicans have agreed to delay a vote on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation for one week to allow for an FBI probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against the judge, according to a statement issued by the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday.

The committee requested that the White House “instruct the FBI to conduct a supplemental FBI background investigation with respect to” Kavanaugh’s nomination, the statement said.

The president agreed in short order. In a tweet posted by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders Friday afternoon, the president said had ordered a supplemental investigation that would be “limited in scope and completed in less than one week.”

I know conservatives are angry about this delay but at this point I do not see any other option. For his part Brett Kavanaugh said yesterday during the hearing he would testify to the FBI today if they wanted to talk to him, this does not sound like somebody who is afraid to me. It sounds like somebody who wants to clear his name and this is the best way to do it if he is telling the truth.

Of course even if the FBI clears Brett Kavanaugh the alt-left sky-screamers are not going to accept the investigation as legitimate and they will still riot, but the Republicans have nobody to blame but themselves for allowing it to get to this point in the first place.

Will the FBI investigate Ford?? Who on Rosenstein’s AAA team members will do it? I am about done. Why didn’t Grassly push for a vote at once instead of a 4 hour filibuster.

Good questions. The FBI should investigate Ford as well but I would make it a separate interview so this doesn’t get delayed any more than it already is.

Not one republican had the juevos to suggest never mind insist that the FBI investigate one of their own, the sainted madame Ford.

It was worse than Chinese water torture watching this charade today. The Dems once again play the carrot and the stick game with the. hapless republicans, who as you say are too scared to insist on investigating Shirley Temple who’s connection to the swamp run deep. She knows even if caught telling calculated lies no one will go after her. After all the right can’t run the risk of being tarred and feathered for being anti-woman. She’s more protected than a transsexual minority atheist.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch it because I know it would just make my blood boil but from what I have read about this whole situation the Republicans got bested at every turn. They are a joke and part of me wonders if they want to see this guy go down because they still don’t like Trump.

Will the FBI investigate this Ford woman and the activities of her lawyers and the Democrats?

They should but I would do it separately so this doesn’t get delayed any more than it already is. But they won’t though…

The ‘Lawless’ have to be scourged out of all departments before sanity and lawful thinking and behavior reigns.
Lawlessness is evident in many small communities, because of the “trickle down debauchery” effect, that’s polluted the whole – like leaven/1 rotten apple. It supports its own and fights dirty to stay in power. Filth doesn’t vote for cleanliness!
Need a “strong arm and hand” to ‘go to work!’

      “trickle down debauchery”
That pretty much suns it up, people see what others get away with it and decide that is the way to get ahead and it just keeps getting worse and worse.
