Minneapolis City Council votes to defund and replace the police department
There has been a growing movement on the left which has reached the halls of the Congress. Knowing how radical the idea sounds the leftists are playing the semantics game, the way they always do, saying they do not want to defund the police but want to reallocate the monies used to fund the police.
Now the movement has actually taken another step forward in Minneapolis, the city council had taken the first step to defund the police and now they are moving to replace the police department. Here is more:
The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously passed a resolution to pursue a community-led public safety system to replace the police department following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the city’s police.
The move comes days after a veto-proof majority of the council voted to disband the police department after the country erupted in protest over the killing of Floyd
“The murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, by Minneapolis police officers is a tragedy that shows that no amount of reforms will prevent lethal violence and abuse by some members of the Police Department against members of our community, especially Black people and people of color,” five council members wrote in the resolution.
According to the above-linked article this movement started before the George Floyd murder but has gained momentum after the killing and now we have reached this point. This is just the beginning step, the article states this sets up a year-long review because nobody knows what is actually going to replace the police department.
I have to believe that in a year from now tensions would have died down and clearer heads will have prevailed, but the Democrats do have this penchant for taking things too far and this could be another example. I believe taking this to this extreme is going to backfire on them but this is just the beginning so strap yourselves in and prepare for a long and bumpy ride.

I have to believe that the people we have put in the House/Senate have added to all of this. The left is able to say negative and most the time, false statements about this President AND the Republicans in general and the right does not shut them down quickly. We have elected people that think there is a level playing field and the other side will play fairly. This is NOT the case, as we see over and over. The States and Counties take their que from what is coming out of Washington DC. If the situation was flipped, it would be a different ball game. Now, I know all of you reading this and on this blog know everything I already said. The problem is that we have a lot of do-gooders on the right that think things will work out in the end. They are seriously wrong if all they do is hope for the best and see the good in people. The left is out to destroy the right, at all costs. The schools have indoctrinated our children from the first day they walk into school. We, as aware parents have seen this and fight against it, but there are parents that think the schools have the best interest of the students at heart and believe everything they are being told. Oh boy! It seems it has happened so fast, but if you look, you can see it has been in place for years and has been plugging along.
My Dad and brother were both police officers, so I was a “cops kid”. It was and still is an honorable job, but so many people have vilified the position that there is not much respect for the police, now. Of course when there is trouble, who is the first phone call to? 911, right? Then when they show up, there are cellphone cameras going from the beginning. They are being watched and scrutinized from the start. I wish they would ALL have their cams turned on as soon as they pull up on the scene, but sometimes that doesn’t happen or they do not have them issued. Are there bad cops? Surely, as there are bad people in every job position. Should they all be guilty by association? Absolutely not! Do the liberal cities that are pulling this wipe out of police think they are doing the right thing by removing them? I guess they believe they are. I think they have not thought this through, but I also think it is going to come back and bite them in the butt. Most these cities and states have been run by liberals for years and we can see what it has done to taxes, for just one example. I am from Illinois. If I need to say any more than that, you have not been paying attention. I am no longer residing in Illinois. I miss my home and my family, but we faced reality that Illinois will never turn for the good of those living there. So, I am now a “Damn Yankee” in the state I reside because I am a transplant. I do not know what the outcome will be in the end. I am hoping that sane people prevail, but that hope is very slight. Every day I read the blogs, it an eye opener and I have to sit and wonder CAN it get any worse….yes, I believe it can. And, it most surely will. When you empower people that are doing nothing but the biding of evil minds, you get what they have been paid for and then some. Besides the paid people, then you get the ones out just to have “fun” and loot. It is a ball rolling down the hill. I find myself just shaking my head and wonder where the level headed people have gone! How many have you seen lately? I am hoping enough of us have raised a generation of kids that know right from wrong and good from evil and have the ability to take it head on. In my mid 60’s now, I can still fight, but time is running out……sorry so long, it has been awhile since I have commented anywhere. Be safe and keep up the good fight…we still need to be voices of reason.

Welcome back Lou, it’s probably been a few years! I am so glad that you are okay! I think you bring up a great point about our side trying to play be the rules when the other side does not think there are any rules. You would think by now Republicans would say all bets are off and sink to their level, sometimes you have to before you can get things back to where they should be, but I think they know the media would not be on their side and would use them using the Democrats’ tactics to bring them down even more.

I think it is wrong that a group of council people can shut down a police system. They are either clueless OR really screwed up mentally to think there does not need to be some sort of checks and balances in a country/state/county level for wrong doing. Do they really believe that all people will do the right thing all the time? It just does not happen. That perfect place that Antifa has created is already crumbling…

At this point everything we see on television is an illusion and I cannot believe people still take it seriously but they do! I guess if that is all you watch you would have no way of figuring it out especially when there is no critical thinking any more.

My older brother that passed away a couple years ago only watched MSNBC, Joy Reid. I would go every Saturday to take care of him over a 2 year period and that is what he had on the tube. I finally had to ask him to turn it off. I knew what she was saying was false, but he, even being an educated man, could not see thru it. At what point does an intelligent person believe the hype without questioning it? There are a lot of brainwashed people walking around and you have to wonder if they even know it. The Media is issued their talking points and no matter what liberal station/channel you turn to, you hear the same garbage. This is what the Media has become, there are a few that will speak truth and they are shut down quickly. I rarely watch tv anymore. I prefer to read, I think you can get more out of doing that than sitting in a vegetative state in front of people on the news that have info they have to get out to the masses from their leaders. This is what America journalism has become! When you read, you tend to form you own opinions of what it was you just read, instead of just absorbing the hype.

The media no longer reports the news and lets the people decide how to feel about it, they now tell people how they should feel about what they are showing them. It is sad that so many people do not question anything any more and I can understand it with the younger people because they have been indoctrinated in the schools for so long. They just don’t know any better at this point.

Not knowing any better just cannot be an excuse now! The Republic is at stake. Ordinarily I would just keep my opinion to myself just to keep the peace around family, but we have run out of time! At this point it is everyone on deck and they may not like what I have to say, but it must be said. It may not make a difference, but we have to try!
