Florida COVID-19 test results are skewed

July 14, 2020

Over the last week or so Florida has become the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. The media was all aflutter with the news that the Sunshine State had the highest number of single day positive tests and the Democrats were thrilled at the prospect that they might be able to cripple the economy once again.

However, if this story is correct there are errors with the reporting and the numbers are being skewed. Here is more:

After FOX 35 News noticed errors in the state’s report on positivity rates, the Florida Department of Health said that some laboratories have not been reporting negative test result data to the state.

FOX 35 News went on to speak with the Florida Department of Health on Tuesday. They confirmed that although private and public laboratories are required to report positive and negative results to the state immediately, some have not. Specifically, they said that some smaller, private labs were not reporting negative test result data to the state.

You will note here that Florida’s Health Department admitted not all negative test results were not reported. That seems very odd, why would you not report certain results, but that is not all:

Countless labs have reported a 100 percent positivity rate, which means every single person tested was positive.

Timeout. Did the article really just explain to the readers what a 100% positive rate mean? Anyway, I digress, let me start that over.

Countless labs have reported a 100 percent positivity rate, which means every single person tested was positive. Other labs had very high positivity rates. FOX 35 News found that testing sites like one local Centra Care reported that 83 people were tested and all tested positive. Then, NCF Diagnostics in Alachua reported 88 percent of tests were positive.

How could that be? FOX 35 News investigated these astronomical numbers, contacting every local location mentioned in the report.

The report showed that Orlando Health had a 98 percent positivity rate. However, when FOX 35 News contacted the hospital, they confirmed errors in the report. Orlando Health’s positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as in the report.

That is quite a difference is it not! And here is more:

The report also showed that the Orlando Veteran’s Medical Center had a positivity rate of 76 percent. A spokesperson for the VA told FOX 35 News on Tuesday that this does not reflect their numbers and that the positivity rate for the center is actually 6 percent.

So some labs are not reporting the negative test results even though they are required to do so, while other labs are over-reporting the positive test results by a factor of ten and we are supposed to believe that these are just honest mistakes and the data is not being purposely manipulated for political gain?

Just add it to the list of reasons to vote a straight GOP ticket in November.

We’re well beyond the point where the statistics have much meaning. Wuhan Virus is often asymptomatic, highly infectious and very persistent. No country in the world outside of the island of New Zealand has been able to eliminate the virus. Even the countries with the best records, like Germany and South Korea, have been able to hold the numbers down, but they can’t eliminate it.

The shutdown isn’t sustainable. If we don’t get back to work fairly soon, the economic consequences alone will be lethal for a lot of people.

That leaves distance, masks and sanitizer as the only useful tools in dealing with Wuhan. The bad news there is that a number of us will get sick. The good news is that the docs are getting pretty good with their treatments and the mortality rate is way down.

We are simply going to have to live with it as a fact of life, just as my generation grew up with Measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox, Scarlet Fever and Polio. Especially with Scarlet Fever and Polio on that last, the current virus doesn’t look that mean.

Especially with Polio, we were pretty happy to have a vaccine, but before the vaccine, life had to go on.

Unfortunately they have managed to scare the hell out of so many people that many of them are afraid to go back to work and look at it as if we are the bad guys for wanting to get life back to normal. It is going to be hard to fight this mindset.

Dr. J, I read that they want us older people to take a MMR shot, like they want the 40ish kids to get boosters. Yes, most of us had all the nasty childhood illnesses, I think I am probably good. I will not take a shingles shot or a pneumonia shot, either. My choice, or at least for now. I do not trust the flu vaccines, either, do they ever hit the right strain? I think it is just another way of control. On a side note, I do not know if they will ever have an actual accurate account of who really had the virus. The WHO, CDC, you name it, have skewered the numbers up so badly, that any ones guess is as good as the next. People get sick, they can either fight it off, or they cannot. Meds are out there, but most are not politically usable. To shut the economy down is not the way to do it, but shut it down they did and want to do again.

The CDC has been inflating the CoVid numbers also…

Let’s hope some “pink slips” go out!
