Chicago to end history classes?
As we have seen through the Spring and into the Summer our history has been under attack by the left. While our past certainly is not perfect it is our history and it is important that it be taught in the schools, both so that people learn how our country got to where we are today, and also so that we will not repeat the same mistakes we might have made along the way. But Chicago does not feel the same way, some in the Windy City who are unhappy with our history want to eliminate it altogether from the classrooms.

Chicago-area leaders urged the Illinois State Board of Education on Sunday to halt history classes that “unfairly” communicate history until an “alternative” can be found.
Democratic state Rep. LaShawn Ford of Chicago said the current state history curriculum leads to a “racist society” and may cause “white privilege” before a Sunday press conference in Evanston in a release obtained by NBC 5. In the release, Ford called to replace courses and books that “unfairly communicate” history until a “suitable alternative is developed.”
“When it comes to teaching history in Illinois, we need to end the miseducation of Illinoisans,” Ford said in the release. “I’m calling on the Illinois State Board of Education and local school districts to take immediate action by removing current history books and curriculum practices that unfairly communicate our history.”
“Until a suitable alternative is developed, we should instead devote greater attention toward civics and ensuring students understand our democratic processes and how they can be involved,” he continued.
I do agree with the need to teach civics in schools, I am not sure when that disappeared, however just because you might not like the history you are teaching does not mean it is not important to teach it.
The left laughs at people who are upset that they are tearing down statues and the left laughs at those who claim the left wants to erase history, but that was just the beginning and now we have seen it lead to a major city in America that really does want to erase our history in the classroom.

Orwell (Eric Blair) connected w/ Huxley who introduced him to the Fabian secret society, who were instrumental in the ‘Global Fascist Agenda – their ‘vision’. He became ‘disillusioned’ w/ them and wrote 1984 to “expose” their ‘agenda’ – which they own the copyright and his estate (2025)!

They never seem to delve in to specifics when criticizing current curriculum. Of course, current curriculum is the result of the last generation of leftists who took over our public schools and imprinted their version of “the truth”
Here is an ideal. This is what was done at my undergrad alma mater. Get rid of text books. Read primary sources. Create a reading list, read the books, write papers, discuss in seminars. That is education. But of course Chicago public schools will have to start by teaching kids to read. Not sure if the teachers’ unions would approve.

Years ago when my kids were in school, we had encyclopedias! We had 3 sets of them, that is when you still had to go to the library or hope someones parents had books at their house….we did. We always had kids in our familyroom doing papers on something. After they left home, we finally gave all the books to a resale book store. Now I wish we had kept them. I know there are probably alot out there, still. Would not be a bad idea to go pick up a set or two from the 40’s maybe thru the 70’s, after that they started messing with what was allowed to be in them. What was that movie about books? Fahrenheit 451? Does anyone remember seeing that? Another one like Animal Farm or 1984 that seemed so foreign at the time, but now???

Nineveh keeps coming to mind. Jonah hated them and didn’t want to go there and speak God’s Word of warning to them; lest they turn to God and confess they’d been following the ‘wrong god’! “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.” We’re not told of ‘what’ God told Jonah to say (preach) to them, which would be interesting to know – since the scene is similar to the world today. That city was huge – took him 3 days to walk from one end to the other. But when they ‘heard’ God’s Word (from this man who ‘hated them!’) “… the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.” That was the ‘culture’ back then – what would reverence, deep regret and remorse, look like today? Today, the ignorant ‘bend a knee’ to the very god enslaving them – putting everyone under its 👎
We weren’t taught “that” History in school. Those people couldn’t tell ‘their right hand from their left’. An interesting comparison, today’s culture and Nineveh’s culture. Nineveh was so bad Jonah refused to listen to God’s command to go there but he eventually did and the people listened. Hopefully the same can happen here, but right now the people’s heard are hardened.
