Supreme Court blocks Andrew Cuomo’s COVID-19 church restrictions

November 26, 2020

While Bill de Blasio’s Brown Shirts are going to be out in full force over the holiday season stopping people with out-of-State plates and asking to see their papers we did get a little bit of good news last night.

It is being reported here that last might the Supreme Court temporarily blocked Herr Cuomo’s COVID-19 church restrictions. Here is more:

The Supreme Court late Wednesday temporarily blocked Gov. Andrew Cuomo from setting capacity limits at houses of worship in certain state-designated coronavirus hot spots.

In a 5-4 decision, the nation’s highest court sided with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Orthodox Jewish synagogues that sued the governor over the state-imposed caps in areas declared red and orange zones.

Here is part of the opinion given in the decision:

“Even in a pandemic, the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten,” the unsigned opinion said.

“The restrictions at issue here, by effectively barring many from attending religious services, strike at the very heart of the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty.”

The idea that a dictator such as Andrew Cuomo has the authority to stop people from attending Church services is so overtly unconstitutional that it is scary sign of the times this had to go all the way to the Supreme Court to be reaffirmed. It is almost as scary that this was a 5-4 decision.

Newly-minted Justice Amy Coney Barrett sided with the majority and the Constitution while Chief Justice John Roberts joined the other three liberal justices on the side of der führer.

Roberts is a progressive and was appointed by a progressive, GWB. He is the gift that keeps on giving. And progressives would beg to differ with this statement:

“Even in a pandemic, the Constitution cannot be put away and forgotten,”

Quite the contrary. In the view of progressives the Constitution is simply an archaic impediment to their self=regulated definition of progress. One hundred and twenty five thousand Americans of Japanese ancestry will vouch for that.

“…archaic impediment..”. So true, so sad. I’m not interested enough to read about it but sure wonder why Roberts feels that Churches can be told what to do, and how to behave. We hear far too much about freedom from religion. What I wish we heard about if freedom from government.

You are right, Roberts is and always will be a liberal and he is Bush’s lasting legacy. The one thing we can be most thankful for his Trump’s effort to remake all the courts.

Had the Muslims joined the petition it might have been 9-0 upholding the constitution. Roberts is a selfish pig.
