House Democrat ends prayer with ‘amen and a-women’
Last week Nancy Pelosi took political correctness to a whole new level when she banned the use of “gendered terms” in the House so when I read this story earlier today I thought it was a joke, a spoof on Nancy Pelosi, but it turns out it is not.
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, Democrat, offered the opening House prayer and after a prayer to a “monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths” (as if that were not politically correct enough) he ended his prayer with an “amen and a-woman.”
In a demonstration of political correctness run amok, Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) offered the opening prayer of the 117th Congress on Sunday — ending the invocation with “amen and a-woman.”
“We ask [these things] in the name of the monotheistic god, Brahma, and god known by many names by many different faiths. Amen and a-woman,” Cleaver said to end the prayer.
We do not even need to go into the fact that “amen” has nothing to do with gender, but as long as this is the path America is on I would like to put aside the absurdity of this to ask a serious question. Shouldn’t Emanuel Cleaver be scolded by his fellow Democrats for using heteronormative language and for only including two genders…

What I learned in parochial school: Amen means “And so be it” The term has nothing to do with gender. Not unless you have dropped one too many tabs of bath tub acid. Then it can mean ‘Unicorns spotted on the dark side of the moon.’ Or ‘A Women.’

I am so sick of all this nonsensical terminology which only adds to the confusion and is a complete waste of time and for Nancy’s actions, taxpayer dollars. Hearing today that DC called out the National Guard against the election fraud protestors but wouldn’t consider it when BLM was looting and burning…I’ve had it. I’ve now decided to refuse. I refuse their new agenda. I refuse to participate in idiocy and fall prey to their false and ridiculous narrative. I refuse to follow the rest of the sheep while Nancy and the far Left lead them over the cliff.

Yesterday, I spent a few depressing hours going through some Liberal web sites; Jezebel.com, Jalopnik.com and AVClub.com and some other related sites that are part of a conglomerate. The ignorance displayed and their belief in forcing those ignorant ideas on all of us is downright scary.
Even more scary is their distortion of language and application of new and made up terms to describe their ideas. Newspeak is becoming very real.

I can’t even stomach 1 minute of NPR anymore…an interview use to be interesting a long, long time ago before the false narrative became their standard.

The places I listed above and their related blogs are more of a formalized social media for the Woke
When I started reading them, I learned things about the current generation of Liberals that I wouldn’t have believed any significant number of people could believe. Among the younger and more Liberal crowd, these people are apparently considered normal, philosophers to learn from.
These guys are on the other side of the looking glass. Reading their stuff is spooky. It might not be pleasant, but check a few of them anyway.

Stupid is as stupid does. At best it’s a childish joke. More likely, the Dems are pandering to their Woke base who will think it’s some sort of revolutionary breakthrough for gender equality.
Seriously, I’m not expecting the GOP to win in Georgia and I’m seriously depressed at the prospects of what will come out of that. That’s not just a concern for the welfare of our country, but me personally as well. I’ve made many comments and mini editorials that are pro Conservative/Libertarian and against the Libs, which has probably put me on several sh!t lists.
Here in Los Angeles, that could be a problem. During the Obama years when the IRS was targeting conservatives I had some odd things happen with my tax returns. They never amounted to anything, but were still a hassle. What’s going to come now that the Wokists start enforcing their idea of social justice?

I was thinking it could have been a joke as well but then I thought because this was a Democrat he had to be serious, he would not have dared to joke about something like this. If a Republican had done it it would have been to show how ridiculous the Dems have become.

I think with our country in crisis, our democracy in peril, and a lunatic sitting in the White House becoming more delusional day by day because he didn’t win and this is what you choose to get upset about? Exactly Dr. Jeff! This is but a microcosm what is going on, and actually more than being upset at it I find it kind of a bit of comic relief. Although the fact that we have people in positions of power who don’t know what they are talking about really is nothing to laugh at.

Hi Steve – I just re read Maggie’s remarks. She wrote as if she had read none of the previous exchanges and simply dismissed the whole thing as pointless with parting shots at Trump and the rest of us.
Hey Maggie – Why don’t you hang around, follow some of the commentaries, add a few ideas of your own (ad hominem attacks don’t count) and see what happens? Sometimes, you’ll even find yourself in a real debate with different opinions citing different bits of history and such. Or not. Some discussions are more gossip and venting.
Respond to what you consider interesting or important. You might have noticed that some of us can actually write in complete sentences and even count beyond 10 without taking off our shoes.
In the worst case, you’ll learn something about the variety of opinions of your opposition. What do you say?

I have debated on several platforms over the last year. This is just my opinion on this subject. I don’t think it has any momentum or any substance given everything else that’s going on in the country. Don’t confuse my generalities with not being informed with the intricacies of things going on in our country. That would be a mistake. Have a nice day.

You were given an open and honest invitation. Since you have more interest in arrogantly dismissing it, with a veiled threat on top, I assure you, you will not be missed. Someone else here may have a different opinion, but that’s mine.
I am quite fed up with arrogant Liberals who can’t attribute any worth to an opposing idea. Ideas such as Hillary’s “basket of deplorables” and Obama’s “bitter clingers” take away our humanity just as much as calling a Jew a “k1ke” or calling a Black person a “n1gger” takes away their humanity and I’m sick of it.
If we ever meet again, don’t expect me to be friendly.
