Joe Biden says he wants to ban some 9mm handguns

July 22, 2021

During a townhall style event yesterday Joe Biden was blathering on about gun control and the President actually admitted that he would ban some 9mm handguns. Here is what he had to say:

“I’m the only guy that ever got passed legislation when I was a Senator to make sure we eliminated assault weapons. The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a, wherwherwher whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, it is ridiculous. I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things…”

After bragging about being the only Senator to successfully trample on the Second Amendment (doesn’t it take more than one vote in the Senate to pass legislation?) he went on to stumble towards the point that he would like to ban 9mm handguns if he considered the magazine to be high capacity.

We can either chalk this up to Joe Biden jumbling his thoughts together and not really talking about 9mm handguns, or we can chalk it up to his not having any idea what he is talking about, or we can take him at his word that he really does want to ban 9mm handguns.

Because this is the first time we have heard any serious politician talk about banning 9mm handguns I think we had better take it at face value because even if he did misspeak other Democrats are now going to jump on the bandwagon.

LOL, this is coming from the man who said that for home defense you should either fire your shotgun into the air or fire it through a closed door even if you didn’t know who was on the other side.

Assuming he even manages to get legislation passed banning 9mm handguns with large capacity magazines, I can’t see it lasting very long, even with a Liberal judge.

The real question is going to be what kind of gun control monstrosity do they have in the works. There’s a Democrat in the White House and they have to at least try banning some kind of firearm while they’re in control. Appointing a gun ban advocate to head the BATFE is a hint.

I have never met, corresponded with or seen any gun control advocates who had anything except fear or greed as their driving force. Power hungry politicians have their own motives, but the general people who support gun control are mostly clueless about firearms, clueless about the Bill of Rights, clueless about being a good citizen in general and are primarily motivated by fear.

Around forty years ago, my Hollywood Cousin, the screenwriter, wrote a short firm about a man who is given a present of a very nice, nickel plated, Colt Single Action. Most of the film is about him having nightmares about killing his daughter by “mistake”. The closing scene is the man cutting up the gun with a hacksaw. I pointed out to my cousin that while there are moral issues with firearms, fear was not a moral statement. It took him close to 20 years to figure that one out.

He’s still working on the idea that machines don’t make moral choices, only people do. He mostly writes for Super Hero children’s TV shows (never made the big league with Marvel or DC). That’s his mental speed.

I remember when he said those things, I wish I thought of it when I wrote this post. I would have included that.
There is also the possibility that the left throws stuff like this out there to set an extreme example so that what they do pass does not seem as bad as what they threw out there. That way we sit there and say, “this isn’t so bad, I thought it would be worse.”

Democrat ideas about “sensible” gun control laws can be strange. You probably heard that the Dems jammed through a law requiring you to register as a buyer of ammunition and you can only buy from a registered dealer. If you go hunting in Arizona and you have half a box of shells left over that you bought in Arizona, you cannot legally bring them back to California.

That little nightmare was part of a package of 5 gun control laws. The other 4 laws made no functional difference in anything. They just did stuff like clarify a definition that was pretty clear in the first place.

Functionally, the only law they passed was the ammo purchase law.

Still it gave the Dems bragging rights on passing 5 gun control laws instead of one.

…and it gave the rest of us a royal pain with a side of paranoia when we want to buy a couple of boxes of ammo.

That’s my report from behind enemy lines in Los Angeles, California.

The are hell bent on making all gun owners criminals and I think this ammo law is a perfect example. It would be very easy to break this law unknowingly or unwittingly and you can bet they will throw the book at you if you do.
Personally I don’t think there is such a thing as common sense gun laws, every single gun law is unconstitutional.

This is consistent behavior from a hack politician who has never been right on any major issue but has been right where the money flows. Hacks like this do not only bend with prevailing winds they bow to the prevailing wind. Someone from the Giffords or Brady or Bloomberg crews slipped him a fractional talking point and he is now bloviating on it. And from those of us who cling to our natural rights, the answer is a simple one. No. Joe, the answer is no. Thank you.

That’s pretty much it when you come down to it. Politicians like Joe have no core beliefs and now political opinions until the money starts coming in and that is where their loyalty lies.

The thing with Joe Biden is that he’s a nice face. If he were your neighbor, you would always invite him to your barbecues.

Just as you guys are saying, he has no guiding principles beyond power and money and he’s less interested in the power than the money.

He’s a distraction. Who is pulling the strings right now and what is their agenda?
