Gunrunner: Is John Boehner slowing down Darrell Issa’s investigation?

February 5, 2012

It is being reported on Sipsey Street Irregulars that Eric Holder and the “Justice” Department are not the only ones stonewalling the investigation into the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal. Eric Holder may have help in the form of none other than House Speaker John Boehner and the fix might already be in.

Here is the sad news told by someone in the know:

As for yesterday . . . (it was) a plea bargain of sorts where both sides save face. The Committee will accept the scalps of Breuer and Wienstein, DOJ will release enough of the (documents) to condemn them, claim cooperation (thus giving the appearance of recognizing congress’s oversight authority), and Holder will survive – looking like a “leader” for offering them up (along with a few lower level ATF and DOJ folk). The Committee will chalk one in the “Win” column for oversight and holding people accountable. DOJ will have the same for cooperating and accountability. All sides win, all checks and balance intact and working fine, all powers respected and then they move on to the next act of political theatre. The only ones left to sweep up the mess, are the American and Mexican peoples – ignorantly secure in our beliefs that the system works and that our government is actually for us, by us, and of us.

Another source confirmed the foot of Boehner on the brake pedal of the Issa Committee investigation and said, “the only thing that will stop him is if somebody chucks him out of the car.”

Is it possible that John Boehner and Eric Holder have already struck a deal to implicate “Justice” Department underlings and through this deal John Boehner is actually condoning–and encouraging–Eric Holder’s stonewalling tactics, while waiting for the proper time to release just the documents which will bring down nobody of import within the “Justice” Department and let Eric Holder save face?

So what would John Boehner get out of such a deal?

Asked by this reporter what Boehner would get from such a deal, called “logrolling” by the source, he said, “Whatever he wants most or fears most. Politicians do these deals all the time, but this one is unusual in its size and scope. . . and the fact that a whole lot of people are watching.”

In other words he could basically get whatever he wants in cutting a deal so large it could save Eric Holder and Barack Obama from a huge embarrassment in an election year. A spokesman for John Boehner is denying these claims saying “such speculation is absurd and untrue,” and claims that John Boehner believes the “Justice” Department must be held accountable. I guess his idea of accountability and mine are slightly different because I believe the head of an agency is responsible for the oversight of–and the actions of–the  agency that person is entrusted to lead, whereas John Boehner appears ready to cut Eric Holder some slack and let him off the hook.

John Boehner can deny these allegations all he wants, but why has he refused to state whether or not he supports Darrell Issa call for holding Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, why will he not state whether or not he supports Darrell Issa’s call for Eric Holder to apologize to all those people affected by the murders committed using Fast and Furious weapons, and why will he not state whether or not he supports the 103 House members who have called for Eric Holder’s resignation?

Why is he so silent on this issue, and why does he refuse to comment on this issue unless a deal has already been struck. Have Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley’s investigations been undermined by the leader of the Republican Speaker of the House? We will know for sure once we see who ends up taking the fall, but at this time it appears as if John Boehner is in cahoots with the people responsible for supplying weapons to criminals–weapons which ended up killing 300 Mexicans and two American heroes.

and the question is, what do they have on Boehner and Grassley? I recall they ran something up the flag about Issa a couple of months ago. Apparently it didnt stick.

B, I imagine at any given time they have a “list” on all the Congress members that can be brought out when needed. Didn’t that come out when Bill and Hillary were having issues? I think this is just another smoke screen for us to be watching while they do something else. Is that being cynical? Probably. I am pretty much losing faith in taking anyone out of office. Aren’t you?

I wanted this guy gone when the first tear fell. If Issa plays along with a scheme like this his career is over. He’ll look like a partisan politician that tried bring down an honorable Attorney General. I can’t see him going along willingly.

I was willing to give Boehner a chance, but he has been a failure and if this is true he must be voted out in November. I don’t see Issa going along with this, I hope that he is willing to fight against his party leaders and continue on.

If this is true he must go as soon as possible, to think he would sell out Brian Terry’s family for what he thinks is a little power is disgusting.

I’d like to think he’s saving his ammo for an “October Surprise,” but he’s been rolled by the Dems so many times already, I fear he’s too stupid to make actually hay from this.

Yeah, John Boehner is no leader and I wouldn’t expect him to make any political hay out of this. Is is becoming nothing more than a tool of the Democrats.

“Resignation” must be followed immediately by prosecution.

Resignation should only be the first step, I agree. This man should be prosecuted for his actions.

This administration does whatever it wants. Barack Obama and his lawyers had a subpoena in Georgia. He just didn’t show up and nothing was said I watched ABC NBC CNN and Fox read papers the New York Times Washington Post nothing complete disrespect for a subpoena that’s contempt of court is in it yet know buddy said nothing now this gun running thing two young men were killed this thing has been dragging out months they refused to give up e-mails I had my hopes up before thinking this time this man will have to answer for something he never does. Seems to me like Congress is afraid of all these gangsters in the White House I wrote hundreds of letters on post Congressman and senators Congress will now go on break John Boehner may be the biggest problem in Congress than anything else maybe Darrell ISsa should bring contempt charges to John boehner first and after he’s dealt with you can focus on Eric holder

John Boehner has been a disaster as Speaker. The Democrats have out flanked him on nearly every issue. He has been disappointing to say the least.
