Gunrunner: GOP to drop Fast and Furious investigation for fear of Holder playing the race card?
If this report is true than it is truly a sad day for the families of Brian Terry, Jaime Zapata, countless families of murdered Mexican nationals, justice seeking Americans, accountability in government, and for law and order. If the story is true John Boehner is prepared to drop the Fast and Furious investigation and stop contempt hearings against Eric Holder because he is afraid he will play the race card. John Boehner apparently feels as if the Republicans will face a lesser political hit for dropping the investigation than they will if they move forward and Eric Holder plays the race card.
they (the GOP leadership) don’t think that they will suffer for [that] failure to follow through. They’re scared of Holder’s race card. . . they’re scared of Trayvon. They think if they let Issa fail, that it will only be a story in the blogosphere for a day . . . that they can weather it.
If this is true–and it is unconfirmed–it appears as if Boehner is making a decision based on politics instead of basing his decision on the facts uncovered in the investigation or doing what is right, and it is a shame that Darrell Issa and Charles Grassley have been sold down the river so that John Boehner can do what he thinks is more politically expedient.
I have nothing else to add to this story at this time other than to state I am totally disgusted with the Republican leadership, and if they are all voted out in November they deserve it for they have let the American people down because they don’t have the courage to do what is right. Why should we trust them any more than Barack Obama to make the tough decisions moving forward if they are to look at everything through a political prism before making a decision? That is how we got into this mess in the first place and if politics trumps everything else when making a decision we have already lost this country.

I hope so too, but in the end it looks like Boehner did what all politicians in Washington do and that is whatever is in their best interest to get reelected. It really is never going to change no matter what any of them tell us while running for office.

Not too sure about the credibility of the source in that link, but I wouldn’t put anything past Boehner. At the same time, I can’t see the Repubs alienating voters they already have in the bag just to appease voters they’ll never have. It doesn’t make sense to drop it if they’re looking at it politically. of course, it shouldn’t be political at all.

Mike Vanderboegh owns the Sipsey Street blog and has been on top of this story from the beginning. He is the one who broke the story of Boehner slowing down the investigation. He could be wrong and I hope he is because this did kind of come out of the blue.

If the Republican party continues to cave in on the major issues like Fast and Furious then what’s the point of supporting them. Do we go back to the days when we blindly supported the party no matter how much their establishment policies contradicted conservative principles. I say no. I say it’s time to let the RNC know how we feel and how they’re on the verge of losing our support permanently. You can email the RNC at info@gop.com or you can call the RNC at 202.863.8500. Let them know about this decision and about how disappointed you are in the leadership of the party. The RNC still holds the purse strings for many of these politicians…including Boehner. Maybe we need to apply pressure from this end. Clearly contacting our politicians has done very little to change their course and let’s face it they have been a pretty big disappointment since they elected Boehner as Speaker. He has failed conservatives at every level. It’s time for him to go.

Thanks for the link John, I will do my part. I am so fed up with the Republicans in general and specifically Boehner that I haven’t made up my mind to support Romney. I am seriously considering a vote for Gary Johnson because there really isn’t much of a difference between the Democrats and the Republicans at this point.

I am to the point, John, that I almost dislike the Republican party as much as the Democrat party. Is there really much difference now? Other than a handful of Senators and Representatives, I don’t feel MOST of them from BOTH parties care what We the People want. We put them there, maybe it is time to remove them. They are being paid big bucks, that WE supply. I guess maybe WE are the stupid ones for continuing to fund this mess.

There are still some good ones left in the Republican party but not many. At this point there isn’t much difference between the two parties, and yeah we are partly to blame for this because for far too long we have blindly followed them hoping they would be different.

B, I think that any one of us here are more informed and would do a better job than what we have representing us (a few exceptions of course). I know I could sure use the extra money and for so little work!!!!
