Obamacare privacy intrusion will dwarf the NSA spying scandal

July 20, 2013

If you thought the NSA spying scandal was bad enough, and it is, you ain’t seen nuttin yet. We will soon look upon the days when only the NSA was spying on us as the good ole days.

With Obamacare set to kick in in full force we are about to give away the last of our privacy rights.

there is increasing concern in Congress over something called the Federal Data Services Hub. The Data Hub is a comprehensive database of personal information being established by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to implement the federally facilitated health insurance exchanges. The purpose of the Data Hub, according to a June 2013 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report, is to provide “electronic, near real-time access to federal data” and “access to state and third party data sources needed to verify consumer-eligibility information.” In these days of secret domestic surveillance by the intelligence community, rogue IRS officials and state tax agencies using private information for political purposes, and police electronically logging every license plate that passes by, the idea of the centralized Data Hub is making lawmakers and citizens nervous.

They certainly should be; the potential for abuse is enormous. The massive, centralized database will include comprehensive personal information such as income and financial data, family size, citizenship and immigration status, incarceration status, social security numbers, and private health information. It will compile dossiers based on information obtained from the IRS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, the Veterans Administration, the Office of Personnel Management, the Social Security Administration, state Medicaid databases, and for some reason the Peace Corps. The Data Hub will provide web-based, one-stop shopping for prying into people’s personal affairs.

If you still think Obamacare was designed to help those who cannot afford healthcare insurance obtain coverage think again, because this is, and always has been, about providing a means for the government to get its greedy little hands on the last privacy rights sill enjoyed by the people.

As a third grader in1960 I, along with each of my individual classmates, was asked my nationality. Although My sur name is of Scottish origin I considered myself Italian since my mother raised us that way. Imagine my horror when my teacher retorted that I was Irish. During the weeks and months that followed I was scared contemplating the punishment waiting for me when “they” discovered I wasn’t Irish. Thanks to Obamacare no child will suffer as I did since the “authorities will know whether a child’s grandmother used Modess or Kotex sanitary napkins during her monthly period of confinement never mind the kid’s heritage; all this before leaving the womb. Thank you Barry for making a child’s world a happier place.

Not to worry. Any European DNA ancestry will soon be in the dustbin of history here in America.

I am a bit “uncomfortable” with all our information going out to who knows what groups. Guess we might as well start leaving our doors open so anyone that wants to come in and snoop can do that, as well. So, they can get in our financial records and the medical and the personal records, anything left that we can make sure they have access to?
