MIT climate scientist slams Bernie Sanders’ proposed amendment to the Keystone Pipeline bill

January 14, 2015

Bernie Sanders is seeking to add an amendment to the Keystone Pipeline bill which states the following:

It is the sense of Congress that Congress is in agreement with the opinion of virtually the entire worldwide scientific community that— (1) climate change is real;  (2) climate change is caused by human activities; (3) climate change has already caused devastating problems in the United States and around the world.

  Here is more:

Sen. Sanders said, “The American people need to know whether Congress is listening to the overwhelming majority of scientists when it comes to climate change. On this issue, the scientists have been virtually unanimous in saying that climate change is real, it is caused by human action, it is already causing devastating problems which will only get worse in the future and that we need to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel. Do members of Congress believe the scientists or not?”

But this amendment was met with scathing opposition from the unlikely source of an MIT climate scientist, Dr. Richard Lindzen, who had this to say:

“Climate change is of course real; change being the normal state of affairs in climate Climate change has caused catastrophic problems on occasion throughout the earth’s history While man may have contributed somewhat to climate change in recent years, his contribution to the above is highly questionable, and continues to be debated.

Moreover, the incidence of severe events shows no particular deviation from historical expectations. Attempts to claim otherwise represent an attempt to hijack science for political purposes. In the case of Bernie Sanders, a socialist, he is undoubtedly dreaming about nationalizing the energy industry.

For the US Senate to accept guidance from Sanders’ bizarre dreams is ludicrous.”

He is 100% right: this is not a scientific issue, it is a political issue and one needs only to follow the money…

Sanders exemplifies what’s wrong with the Left: crippling mental illness coupled with a ruthless pursuit of political power.

As Sanders admits he is a Socialist, he acts and thinks like one, and as such, he is devoted to destroying Capitalism. Marx predicted a peoples revolution would determine who would control the “ways and means of production”. That didn’t happen. So now the left is doing it one step at a time through government control. Throughout history “energy” has been the basis of all fighting. Energy from humans (slaves and surfs) energy from the land (food and minerals) energy from machines (the industrial revolution) and now who controls the purest forms of energy we have today (oil, coal, nuclear). Sanders and the left hate that energy is in the hands private interests. The Soviet Socialists made sure only the government controlled energy, and that is Sanders dream.

Well said Bruce! We should give Sanders credit for one thing, at least he is honest about who he is unlike the other socialists who hide behind the term democracy.

Steve, the left loves euphemisms (work place violence instead of an attack on freedom), and there isn’t a bigger euphemism in our language than the term “Progressive”. The left is rightfully afraid of using the accurate term Socialist because of all the destruction and failure associated with Socialism. But Progressivism, hell, who wouldn’t want to be progressive? You want to be regressive? Of course not, so the Progressives are able to turn universities, media, governments and the courts to Socialism.

The revolution will be complete when the language is perfect…

Bruce, you have hit the nail exactly on the head in my estimation. Progressivism is in the same devil category as Political Correctness and could, if left unchecked, be the straw that breaks the U.S.’s back… Sure, the words in and of themselves SOUND good, the right way to be and act, but they are wolves in sheep’s’ clothing just waiting to devour…IMHO

Best part, I heard he is considering running for President. He certainly would add some “color” to the Dems campaign for President.

That has been my thoughts on climate change, it is a natural course of events and WE have little to no effect on what is going on. Of course it is a money maker and a way of control on all of us. What I do not understand is IF we have such stringent rules and regulations, but alot of countries have none, does that make sense? We are all breathing the same air, but we are held accountable and others are not,,,,,hmmmmm! Something “smells” fishy to me!
Bunker, it would be good to see alot of people run on the Democratic ticket, but I have a feeling that will not happen. Only on the Republican side do the candidates eat each other.

Look at the YouTube video from Charles Krauthamer about “climate change”. He says it better than anyone I have heard and pretty much says what you did Lou, it is a money maker for those who tow the leftist line.

It is a money maker just like cholesterol drugs! They drop the number so low that EVERYONE should be on them, including 12 years old and up (just in case). Those drugs, I believe, are the biggest money maker there is for the drug companies.

Exactly Lou, what good does it do to punish America while letting other countries off the hook? It makes no sense if saving the world is really what is at stake here. Why is it the left has no problem with people enriching themselves off of this scam when they claim to be against the greedy 1%. Rhetorical question…

His opinion is based on a philosophy of lies and misinformation (like Bruce states), but hey, what does he care as long as he get his part of the poop pie. The end game for them is: CIA Flashback: “We’ll Know Our Disinformation Program Is Complete When Everything the American Public Believes Is False.”

Funny. Although I did read that you’re not far off the literal truth of what some of the Illuminati rituals include – eating and drinking. What we consider ‘waste’, not so in their book. Evidence, like this article and what they do -vs- their fair speeches. Just like the Economist cover: http://i.imgur.com/AA0R2Dc.jpg

Thanks for sharing that, I am glad to learn I am not the only one who found it more than ironic this attack occurred at the same time Obama was giving a speech on cyber-security!

They are just having a hard time fooling a handful of us now. At one point they had total control, not totally anymore. I think more and more people are starting to ask IF this is happening, what are they “really” doing!! This is a good thing, not that it will make a difference now, but at leas they don’t think WE are totally crazy now!
