Why I Believe The Surge Is Working

March 3, 2007

I believe the surge is working. I have noticed a lack of reporting in the mainstream media lately about the Iraq war.

Does this mean nothing is happening over there? Of course not. What it means is that the surge is working. The mainstream media has taken great pleasure in giving us the death toll every chance they get. We hear about evey suicide bombing, and attack on our troops. The lack of reporting on Iraq means the attacks, bombings, and violence are way down.

Freerepublic.com reports the following:

Early indications are that the troop surge into Baghdad is working. It hasn’t been reported on widely, but murders in Baghdad are down 70%, attacks are down 80%, Mahdi Army chief Moqtada al-Sadr has reportedly made off for Iran, and many Baghdadis who had fled the violence now feel it’s safe enough to return.

Does the media deem it necessary to report this? No. Why? Because the surge is working, and that makes the president look good. American troops are securing Baghdad.Does this mean there will be no more American casualties? No. Casualties are an unfortunate part of war.

As soon as there are more casualties to report, rest assured the war will be in the media again. Do you ever hear about our soldiers performing acts of bravery? Or all the good we have done over there? No, because that would also make the president look good.

Even our victories are potrayed as losses. Remember when we killed Zarqawi, this wasn’t portrayed as a victory. The media just said this would increase the violence because we angered our enemy.

So the old adage really does apply here, no news is good news. Unfortunately good news is bad for the Democrats, so it isn’t reported.

Even as the Democrats oppose the surge, the surge seems to be having grea success. This is very bad news for the Democrats as they look to the whitehousr in ’08. As America takes control of Baghdad, and eventually turns the country over to Iraqis, the Democrats will have no clear choise but to support it, which they won’t.

This will end up spelling defeat for the Democrats in ’08,but victory in Iraq for the USA.

I know Iraq will be in the news again as soon as the US takes casualties again, and someone will post a comment to this post that says something like ” how’s that surge working now”. But we have to remember that we are fighting the good fight, the noble fight. We can end Jihad once and for all if we just have the fortitude to see it through to the end. And that is the victory that Republicans(and Joe Leiberman) hope for in ’08
