Credibility Concerns lead to Possible Fraud Probe of Carbon Offset Companies

Well who would have ever guessed it. Carbon offset companies may be fraudulent.

This destroys my faith in the green lifestyle. I hope my sarcasm reads through loud enough.

The fact that so many people buy into this whole global warming, carbon offset hoax is what really hurts my faith in the American people. It is nothing more than an attempt to tax you for your so called carbon emissions.

A Financial Times investigation has uncovered widespread failings in the new markets for greenhouse gases, suggesting some organisations are paying for emissions reductions that do not take place.

Others are meanwhile making big profits from carbon trading for very small expenditure and in some cases for clean-ups that they would have made anyway.

What, there are profits to be made here? And I thought Al Gore was paying carbon credits to himself to save the planet. Silly me.

Here are some of the problems the investigation found:

 ■ Widespread instances of people and organisations buying worthless credits that do not yield any reductions in carbon emissions.

■ Industrial companies profiting from doing very little – or from gaining carbon credits on the basis of efficiency gains from which they have already benefited substantially.

■ Brokers providing services of questionable or no value.

■ A shortage of verification, making it difficult for buyers to assess the true value of carbon credits.

■ Companies and individuals being charged over the odds for the private purchase of European Union carbon permits that have plummeted in value because they do not result in emissions cuts.

And there’s more, just check out the article. This whole scam is designed for the sole purpose of tax revenues. First they introduce the idea of carbon credits and carbon offsets as voluntary expenditures to make green people feel like they are saving the planet. It also serves the purpose of getting the rest of us used to the idea and terms of carbon offsets. Once these are ingrained in the minds of the American people, the idea of mandatory carbon credit taxes will be imposed.

This whole scam is designed for new revenue streams, we need to stop this before we face all these new taxes.
