Democrats Cave, Plan to send Iraq War Funding bill to the President Without Timetable

Democrats plan to send President Bush a military spending bill that does not include a timeline for U.S. troop pullout or billions in congressional pork, Democratic officials said Monday. The measure would also provide funds for the U.S. military in Iraq through the end of the fiscal year – Sept. 30, the Associated Press reports. The bill is expected to be finished in time to send it to the president’s desk by Friday. It will include political and military goals for the Iraqi government, and if the Iraqis do not meet these goals, it could jeopardize some of the funds the U.S. has promised for reconstruction. Also included in the bill would be the first federal minimum wage increase in more than 10 years.

Considering the Democrats keep telling us they were sent to Washington to end the war, it sure seems like they are enabling the war to me. If they really had a mandate to end the war, why are they not doing so?

Either they are misrepresenting why they were sent to Washington, or they are letting the American people down. We keep hearing the American people want the war to end. They have the power to do it tomorrow, but they don’t have the courage to do it.

Why? Because they are misrepresenting why they were sent to congress. They know it. They know it would be political suicide to surrender in Iraq. They are trying to make it look like the president failed there by making it harder and harder to fight this war. They are undercutting the troops on behalf of their own political gain, and I find it disgusting.
