Disturbing News on the Immigration Bill

The Senate defeated an amendment by Sen. John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, that would have barred large numbers of illegal immigrants from taking advantage of the proposed legalization program.The measure would have excluded anyone who used false documents, ignored deportation orders or committed other crimes from gaining legal status.

This is just great. On top of the fact they are criminals for the way they got into the country, they will be rewarded with legal status even if they committed forgery, identity theft and who knows what other crimes.

“This amendment would exclude hundreds of thousands from benefits in this bill” said Sen. Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat who help negotiate the measure.

Did Sen. Kennedy just admit that there are hundreds of thousands of criminals that he plans on rewarding? I think he did.

If you came here illegally you can:

steal a social security number and falsely claim benefits even though you never put into the system-and still gain legal status

obtain false documents to show you are here legally- and still gain legal status

ignore deportation orders- and still gain legal status

Only God knows what other crimes you can commit and still gain legal status.

What’s wrong with this picture? As a parent I have seen other parents try to stop a child from throwing a tantrum by offering candy to the child. This is rewarding bad behavior. By telling the child if he/she throws a tantrum they will get candy, you teach the child to throw a tantrum to be rewarded. It’s a learned behavior.

By telling an illegal it’s okay to come here illegally, you will still gain legal status you are rewarding bad behavior. You are only enticing more of them to cross the border illegally.
