New Poll June 21: Confidence in Congress at all Time Low

Just 14% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress.

This 14% Congressional confidence rating is the all-time low for this measure, which Gallup initiated in 1973.  The previous low point for Congress was 18% at several points in the period of time 1991 to 1994.

But the current 14% confidence rating for Congress is down from 19% last year and is the lowest in Gallup’s history, surpassing the 18% confidence in Congress measured in 1991, 1993 and 1994.

This is probably due to the fact that they were elected on promises they couldn’t deliver. Ending the war, which they could if they wanted to, was never a true option for them. They knew the political fallout of surrendering. The culture of corruption which helped get them elected has hit them also. And a domestic arenda that has gone nowhere. The true do nothing congress.

But what do American’s have confidence in?

69% of Americans have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in the military, which tops the list.

It’s too bad congress doesn’t feel the same way about the military. They keep saying the war is lost, or that we can’t win. Maybe they understand the way Americans view the military and that is why they won’t defund the war.

It would seem that the democrats are suffering the consequences of pandering to the special interest groups. They are going to find out the hard way that the special interests do not represent the majority of the American people. Sadly, I don’t think they will learn from this mistake.

The Democrats won’t learn from this, but hopefully the American people will.
