Environmentalists Blamed for Sierra Nevada Residents Losing Their Homes to Wildfires
2000 people, many who lost their homes in Sierra Nevada gathered at a meeting to voice their displeasure. Who were they mad at? Environmentalists. You see, the environmentalists made it too hard for them to cut down DEAD trees to serve as a fire break that could have possibly saved their homes. It seems trees are more important to them than people’s lives.
They said they were angry at bureaucrats and environmentalists who made cutting of trees and clearing of land difficult. There was always too much red tape, they said, and now it was too late.
In all, a crowd of nearly 2,000 people descended on the South Tahoe Middle School auditorium Monday night, wanting to be heard in the face of their losses.
And if there was an object of scorn in the crowd, it was the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, a powerful bi-state environmental land use agency charged with managing the resources of the basin.
This just goes to show you where the environmentalists loyalties lie. Nothing is more important to them than preserving the environment. It doesn’t matter how it affects a person’s life. It doesn’t even matter that trees are a renewable resource. Trees will not become extinct, we can plant new ones to replace the old ones, just in case you environmentalists don’t realize this.
“I hate to get political, but environmentalists wouldn’t let us cut down the dead trees,” he said.
Dead trees are people too, aren’t they? How can we remove dead trees? This is just so ridiculous. Putting trees above people.
You can read the whole article here.

I am watching O’Reilly now. It seems that is what caused the homes in Lake Tahoe to burn. I guess trees matter more than people.

I wrote an article tonight dealing with Lake Tahoe. I included a link to your blog dealing with Sierra at the beginning of my column.

So they could have cut down the trees, but regulations made it difficult. Poor victims. Sounds to me like they would rather collect insurance money than protect their homes.
