Senate Votes for Cloture on Immigration Reform Bill, Republicans sell us out

June 26, 2007

Today the Senate voted for cloture on the immigration reform bill, ending the debate and sending the bill to the floor for a vote. Here there will be several amendments voted on that may still work to kill this God-awful piece of legislation.

Here is a list of all the senators who are selling our country out. First the Democrats:

Daniel Akaka, Joseph Biden, Jeff Bingaman, Barbara Boxer, Sherrod Brown, Maria Cantwell, Ben Cardin, Thomas Carper, Bob Casey, Hillary Clinton, Kent Conrad, Christopher Dodd, Dick Durbin, Russell Feingold, Dianne Feinstein, Tom Harkin, Daniel Inouye, Edward Kennedy, John Kerry, Amy Klobuchar, Herb Kohl, Frank Lautenberg, Patrick Leahy, Carl Levin, Blanche Lincoln, Robert Menéndez, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray, Ben Nelson, Bill Nelson, Barack Obama, Mark Pryor, Jack Reed, Harry Reid, Kenneth Salazar, Chuck Schumer, Jim Webb, Sheldon Whitehouse, Ron Wyden

Not suprising that only nine Democrats voted against cloture, after all this is who the Democrats are counting on for the next generation of voters. Get the illegals on welfare, promise them the world if they vote Democrat, and deliver nothing.

Now the Republicans:

Robert Bennett, Kit Bond, Sam Brownback, Richard Burr, Norm Coleman, Susan Collins, Larry Craig, Pete Domenici, John Ensign, Lindsey Graham, Judd Gregg, Chuck Hagel, Jon Kyl, Trent Lott, Richard Lugar, Mel Martinez, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Lisa Murkowski, Olympia Snowe, Arlen Specter, Ted Stevens, George Voinovich, John Warner

This is the suprising part, half of the Republicans voted for cloture, including one of my senators, Judd Gregg. I am deeply disapointed in his vote. He is not up for re-election in 2008 although my other senator, John Sununu is. I wonder if this had anything to do with their votes.

This bill has single handedly eroded what was left of the most loyal of the Bush supporters, and almost virtually guarantees a Democrat in the whitehouse as this is going to fracture the Republican party.

Please call or write your senator and voice your displeasure.

Not a surprise. This is why I decided to become a libertarian. It is extremely unfortunate, but the Republicans don’t stand for us anymore.

My senator Kit Bond explained why he voted to let the debate continue on Sean Hannity’s show today:

He says if his amendment doesn’t take hold he will vote to kill the bill on Thursday. I’m not sure how great of an idea that was but I don’t think all the senators who voted to continue the debate are going to vote in favor of the bill.
